Chapter 93: Slow Progress
Chapter 93: Slow Progress
When Wuyi met Bolou's brothers, he expected their nature to be like Bolou, the righteous drunkard. However, they were nothing like their brother. Instead, Jin, with his deep beliefs in the heavens and readiness to contradict Wuyi while trying to teach him the righteous path, reminded Wuyi of Bolou more than the two brute brothers did.
Sometimes, Wuyi felt that Jin could see the truth in beings, as if he were able to discern the truth in Wuyi without having a tool like the statue of harmony.
The fourth person who had the freedom to interact with Wuyi was Xuebi. This greedy but loyal official was someone whose talents Wuyi appreciated. Wuyi had plans for this man. So, he allowed Xuebi to help Lin in managing the inn for the time being, and later, he planned to take this official with him. He had already sent some warriors to ensure Xuebi's close relatives were moved to Huanghou.
Officially, in Yuzhao City, the Scholar Xuebi was declared dead, and his family had decided to leave the city.
Once everything was settled and it was time for Wuyi and his followers to leave and return back to Huanghou. A letter had been sent in advance to Tumu in Huanghou, tasked with arranging the necessary setup for the Young Master's new group.
At the Jade Serenity Inn, Wuyi had left two warriors to watch over his investment and hired mostly local people to work in the inn, while he left Lin to maintain and manage it.
Wuyi had enough wealth at the moment, but he still planned to invest wisely in this world. The accountant in him might never forgive him if he didn't make the most of the income.
On their return journey, Xuebi was permitted to share a carriage with Jia, while Zhen and the others followed on their horses. Wuyi brought along some merchants and other workers he had encountered who might be beneficial for his new clan in the future. Among them was a winemaker known for producing excellent wines. Additionally, there were women highly skilled in creating silk garments.
These women reminded him of Mistress Jizao. Yun Ming and Meiying had already been dispatched ahead with the prisoners.
The procession moved slowly until they were a day's distance from the city of YuZhao; then, the procession was asked to camp near a river for the night. When morning came, the procession that consisted of ten warriors protecting it suddenly transformed into a procession of thirty warriors.
The merchants and workers in the procession were surprised; when they went to sleep, there were ten warriors watching over them, and when they woke up, there were more than thirty warriors on horses waiting around the camp to wrap up and start moving.
Wuyi had sent the rescued prisoners in advance to avoid complications. He had rescued more than thirty Qi initiates from prison, but as not many of them were loyal, only about twenty-plus prisoners were left to serve him, while the remaining became nourishment for his statues.
Now that everyone had joined, the procession moved swiftly. Still, Huanghou was far, and they had to make many stops during their journey.
Through daily meditation and consuming the Qi of warriors, the statues had regained the level of power they possessed before Wuyi had summoned them and overextended their energy, nearly crippling himself. Fortunately, he had acquired a significant quantity of spirit stones from the Lujingbao treasury; otherwise, Wuyi might have been forced to consume Yun Ming.
However, a few spirit stones could never provide the amount of energy and nourishment that the soul of a being offered to the statues.
Now that the statues had sufficient energy, Wuyi resumed his cultivation. Unlike others, he never encountered any issues with breaking through during his cultivation. His only ever-present challenge was the scarcity of energy. As the journey progressed, his previously stagnated cultivation began to improve once more.
Wuyi mostly cultivated at night. During the day, he would select one person from his warriors, often from the rescued prisoners, and have them join him in his carriage. He would get them to cultivate in the carriage while he aided them with his pure Qi to enhance their cultivation.
By doing this, Wuyi was able to achieve three outcomes in one go: first, the cultivation path he was showing the warriors with his pure Qi and guiding them on how to process the Qi—this cultivation technique was a special cultivation technique custom-created by the Statue of Knowledge, so they saw quick growth in their cultivation.
Second, this made them dependent on Wuyi; they could cover the minor realms in cultivation by themselves, but when they needed to break through a major realm, they would require his pure Qi from the statues. Third, while they were vulnerable and dependent on him for enhancing their cultivation, he used the Statue of Harmony to instill deep loyalty within their souls.
He was doing the same thing with these new subordinates as he had done with his past subordinates.
As the journey continued, the cultivation of his new warriors began to grow more rapidly compared to Wuyi.
Wuyi's cultivation was increasing too, but since he had already reached the Qi Adept muscle-strengthening phase and was forging bones, this was a slow process. He could feel his bones devouring his Qi and strengthening themselves every moment.
As one reached higher levels in cultivation, raising one's cultivation to every minor realm becomes more and more slow process. Even if he did not get bottlenecks because of his statues , Wuyi had to face this challenge.
If compared with others his cultivation growth was not slow, but as it grew, it was not going to be the same as before when he could cover a minor realm in a month. If Wuyi wanted, he could speed up the process more using his statues' energies to speed up things, which could assist him in many different ways.
For example, there was the option where statues kept cultivating his body and forging his bones while he engaged in other activities, such as traveling, talking, or helping his subordinates. The Statue of Knowledge would keep watch over the absorption and flow of Qi in every statue.
The Qi from each would flow to the Statue of Harmony, which would then be released into Wuyi's body, forging his bones every minute. This was like setting an automated process of cultivation. But Wuyi had made sure to communicate to the statues that he wanted slower progress.
