Legend of The Young Master

Chapter 76: Spirit Calling

Chapter 76: Spirit Calling

But things changed the day Lady Meixiu returned with Xunze and directly went to Lady Yufei to inform her about what had transpired. Yufei took her time to vent on her subordinate for interfering and complicating things. When she heard that the boy hated the Yuanjing clan and had warned the clan to stay away from him, some hope arose in her mind. Maybe the boy will never come back to the clan.

Spirit calling was not a simple ability; they had to inform the elders. So, she directly went to Xuan's grandfather - she was the only one who could go directly to the core elder of the faction, and the elder would have to listen. Besides, Xuan was his grandson, so Yun Minzhu cared about his talented grandson.

When Yufei went to meet the core elder, she brought Meixu with her and met with Yun Minzhu. She made Meixu tell him everything impartially, especially the part that his great-grandson had the mythical bloodline ability of spirit calling, how his guardians were killed, and the boy might harbor hatred towards the clan.

Xunze, the elder who brought Meixu back with him, had come and informed the inner clan officially about what had transpired. Since the news concerned the Spirit Calling ability, when the inner official elders heard about it, they had to send news to the core elders of their faction.

Soon, many of the clan elders were aware of the situation. Many who had not taken the rumors seriously were surprised as it turned out there actually was a bastard of Xuan. Rumors also began that the little bastard was more talented than Xuan. The kid's bloodline ability was summoning spirits, known as the ability of spirit calling, one of the mythical rare abilities.

But news also spread that the kid's guardians were killed by the clan and now he has a vendetta towards the clan.

In the more than millennia-old Yuanjing clan, many types of bloodline ability users were born, but there had not been a summoner - it was only heard of in stories.

Xuan had Guzhi Insight, an ability to foresee his enemies' actions. This talent was the reason why Xuan was appreciated everywhere. When heard the news about the spirit summoner, the clan began to consider things seriously about maybe they had made a big blunder about Xuan's bastard.

Xuan, the talented heir of the clan, was righteous had future insights; they started contemplating that he would not bed just any woman easily - she had to be very special. So, if the woman he bedded was special, the child certainly would have a more special ability. At the time they did not send for an inquiry in Sacred Sword Sect to ask Xuan if any of it was the truth which they should have.

Now, the problem was the clan found out about the bastard's talent the wrong way. Four outer elders of the clan, who were from the Yun Tianxing faction, had ordered the death of the boy without understanding the consequences. The warrior sent to kill the boy had ended the life of the boy's guardian, to whom the boy was very attached.

The boy had used his abilities in front of Meixiu and another outer clan member. In anger, he had summoned formidable spirits and took away and killed the adept warrior. He promised revenge if he was not left alone and had promised to collect the debt. The clan had to consider these things seriously.

If it wasn't for Meixiu and Xunze, who were true loyal servants of the Clan, no one would have believed the rumor hundreds and thousands of miles away that their bloodline had a seed with the ability of spirit calling.

But now, the clan governance had to make a decision. The boy was not the most important thing for the clan, but spirit calling was too rare to ignore, and the boy harbored a seed of vengeance against the clan. There had been many stories of clans getting destroyed by their own seeds.

So, the elders had to consider these things thoroughly and seriously, either to acquire the child and nurture him or to give him a quick end before other clans found out about him and nurtured the child against the Yuanjing clan.

The Yuanjing was a very large clan with many branches and followers, and many powerful elders. But seeds of the clan with rarer abilities were limited. If they could, they had to do something to get the child back in the clan or get rid of him before he spawns and becomes a problem for them. No matter how rare the ability it was not more important than the clan.

This was going to be one of the topics of discussion in the core elders' meeting at the Clan's Ancestral headquarters.

The clan's ancestral headquarters sat just beyond the city walls of Yuanjing city, nestled amid the misty peaks of Mount Jing. The compound spanned over a thousand acres, encompassing temples, archives, training grounds, gardens, and living quarters for the core elders of the Clan.

At the heart of the headquarters lay the Grand Hall of Yuanjing, an ornate pavilion built from phoenix wood and jade stones. Inside, the patriarch presided over clan meetings while treasured artifacts lined the walls. The Grand Hall connected to the meditation gardens and training yards used by the main branch disciples.

The quarters for the core elders radiated outwards, each housing their inner circle and faction members. The heads of the factions lived in the sprawling Cloud Pavilion, which contained multiple courtyards, libraries, and shrines to venerated ancestors. The Grand Courtyard served as the nucleus where key clan events, ceremonies, and hearings were held.

Today was one of those days when a clan governance meeting was going to be commenced.

The Patriarch sat in the center in his white robes; golden threads of the clan emblem stood out proudly on the patriarch's robes. The emblem of the clan portrayed two trees intertwined together.
