Legend of The Young Master

Chapter 74: Debatable

Chapter 74: Debatable

Wuyi could speed things up by powering up his statues through devouring, but he had to be careful about that; it was something even demonics might frown upon. The Statue of Knowledge had already warned him about it.

The Statue of Knowledge had given him a strict warning in dreams that if he used the ability without any care, it would have dire consequences. They were stealing beings from this world for their self-use. He had to keep it to a minimum as possible so he could stay hidden from the truly powerful of this world.

If he wanted to devour, he had to make sure they were not mortals, as mortals would not give him enough energy and he would require a large number of them. When they consumed a living being, that being permanently disappeared from this world and turned into energy for their use. It was theft of the highest level.

So, they needed to be as careful as possible because, in case any of the truly strong beings of this world noticed their existence, they might get devoured themselves.

So, Wuyi planned to use devouring to the bare minimum. Gao was a special treat and an exception, but from now onwards, he was going to be very careful about it.

Wuyi was in a very weak state right now. He might have had a difficult time battling even a qi initiate, but his statues were wise enough to think of a solution in advance.

When the warrior Yun Ming jumped in to protect him. The Statue of Harmony had made sure to use a large amount of energy to control this Qi adept warrior. So now, Wuyi had one official loyal adept level follower to protect and watch over him. Earlier, the plan was to make Congming his follower, but when this warrior arrived, they decided to make some changes in the plan.

Wuyi knew the journey was just beginning, but now he felt he had a good understanding of what he had to do. Now he was fully in control. Not a tool of any clan, no more burden of any bloodline. He was going to live his way. He was free now.

Was he truly free? It was debatable.

Yun Xunze and Lady Meixiu arrived back at the clan within a few days, thanks to the special grand teleportations that had been activated.

Years ago, when the clan first heard the rumor that one of their heirs had sired a bastard, they initially thought it was just a rumor, not true. There would always be many rumors about large clans like Yuanjing, so unless the clan confirmed it, members did not take it seriously.

So, when they heard it again, the news was new to most of the clan members as it was a very old rumor that had been forgotten.

Another reason they did not believe the rumor was that they knew Xuan of the clan was in the Sacred Sword Sect, and they knew Xuan was the righteous heir, so they found it difficult to believe Xuan would bed any woman and sire a child without the blessing of the sect or clan.

At the time the rumor began, some of the inner elders did look for confirmation of the news on orders of the core elders who had an interest in Xuan. And they received confirmation too. But since it was years ago, almost everyone had forgotten it.

Except Xuan's closest relatives, who had kept tabs on the boy, but still, it was a minimal amount of attention that was given to the boy.

Xuan's father, Yun Baihe, and grandfather, Yun Minzhu, when informed about Wuyi, gave minimal concerns.

When the rumor spread for the first time and Wuyi's grandfather received confirmation, he took the initiative and one of the official orders was sent from the clan to the Luyao clan, asking them to keep the child there and make sure the child was safe. But that was all he could do.

In general, any member of the clan would sire many heirs in their lifetime, but very few talented ones would be born. One of the drawbacks of being from a large clan, even if the bloodline was good, not all would be able to master its power.

The clan had very strict regulations when it came to marrying and siring an heir. Xuan, being so talented, had some leeway, but that did not mean Xuan's father and grandfather or anyone would go against the clan to try to make contact with the child unless approved by the clan.

Being deep in clan politics, they did not consider the child worth the effort to raise this topic in a core elders' meeting. Only core elders and the Patriarch could decide if the kid was worthy of being brought back to the clan.

They would not have interfered and sent Yun Ming to check if they were not informed about a few outer elders trying to take advantage of a certain situation. They did this, not because they cared about the child, but because of Xuan, their talented heir.

Xuan was their future; they needed him to be happy. If it turned out the child was killed or was not demonic and it affects Xuan in some way, that would be a problem for his father and grandfather, who were heavily invested in their heir.

After that, there was no mention of Xuan's bastard until one time, in a general outer clan governance meeting, the outer clan overseer elders were informed the boy was showing some talent in controlling beasts, handling horses, and hounds. His assigned guardian was a beastmaster.

The outer clan decided not to consider this even worth discussing or worth informing the inner or core elders. Wuyi's father, Xuan, had one of the rarest talents of the mind. But unlike his father, handling beasts was not considered any talent worth even thinking about.

Xuan, being busy with the Sacred Sword Sect, the boy was almost forgotten by the clan. His importance would have only risen in the clan maybe in the future if Xuan was chosen as the final heir to the clan.

So, the topic of the boy almost never came to the core elders or inner elders. Mostly, outer elders received news once or twice. When they received news that the kid was showing some maturity and the subordinate clan decided to give some education to the boy, they allowed the Luyao clan to educate the child.

Besides Xuan's family, maybe only one other person who might have cared enough to know more about Wuyi was Lady Yufei. She was supposed to be Xuan's future partner.
