Chapter 71: Worse Than The Demonics
Chapter 71: Worse Than The Demonics
Mistress Jizao shook her head. "Wuyi was angry, but that's not the reason he burned the granaries and killed the cattle. It was just a warning. He is telling them not to think about looking for him or to trifle with him again. The demonics attack borderlands, raid farms, and kill cattle, but they do it in the borderlands, never coming close to the fort. But he did it right in the fort.
He is telling us he is worse than the demonics on the borderlands."
One of the girls spoke up, "He is so young, how is he so strong and vicious?"
Mistress Jizao replied, "Boluo was his guardian and was killed. He has the Yunajing noble bloodline. What did you expect—that his guardian would be killed, and he would bring roses for us? It's a good thing he did not kill us all, seeing how easily he overpowered Lord Congming. Gao and the warrior who had killed Boluo were like weeds to him."
A few days later, Lord Congming sat at the center of the main hall in Lujinbo Castle, a frown etched deeply on his face. The hall was filled with key members of the Luyao clan—Zhenli, Wangzhe, his trusted advisor, and a few other people, including Lady Meixiu and Yun Ming. Also present was Yun Xunze.
After the debacle, Lady Meixu and Yun Ming had sent urgent messages to the clan. Yun Xunze was a cultivator with the cultivation of a Qi master of the Initial layer. He was a respected elder. He was sent at the orders of the core elders—he was a neutral party and had come to get a full report of what had transpired.
The death of the warrior and interference of Qi masters for a mere bastard made things serious. A Qi master had the strength to become the clan's inner elder, and the boy apparently had summoned three entities that had the powers of a Qi master.
Yun Xunze, too, wore a frown, having heard all the details from every witness. He understood the clan had handled this situation very poorly. He did not care about Luyao or Lujingbao, nor the death of that warrior. But that kid, who was so powerful at such a young age.
The atmosphere in the hall was somber, each face reflecting a mix of confusion and concern.
Lady Meixiu broke the silence, her frown deepening. "Now that everyone is here, who can tell me exactly what happened?"
Lord Congming sighed. "Lady Meixiu, I had informed you of the complications that would arise from letting him cultivate."
Lady Meixiu's Qi swirled around her as she retorted, "I told you to train him, help him cultivate, not make him an enemy of the clan. Why was his guardian killed? And who taught him to use his other bloodline and summon such powerful beings? He is too young to use such powerful bloodline power. The talent such as summoning, which is rarer than a drop of water in the desert."
Zhenli spoke up, "Boluo and Chao, who took care of Wuyi, were killed on the orders of the Yuanjing clan. Wuyi was supposed to be killed too, but you already know what happened. It seems Boluo or Chao taught him how to use his other bloodline."
Yun Xunze frowned upon hearing about the other bloodline power.
As they contemplated the situation, a guard entered the hall, announcing that one of the watchers assigned to wait for the students' test had returned and requested an audience with Lord Congming.
The man entered, bowing deeply. "Speak. What do you have to say for yourself?" Congming ordered.
The man hesitated, "My lord, all the children sent for the test by Mister Gao have disappeared. We only found a few tracks, not sure what happened, but we think it was a demonic attack."
Congming sighed. So, Wuyi actually did it. The punishment was too harsh, but Wuyi had the power to destroy his clan, and still, he did not.
So, Congming decided to console himself with the thought that he did not mistreat the boy, or the consequences might have been more dire. Still, he had lingering regret, as the boy had said, "He was but not wise enough."
If he had treated the boy well, today he might have had Qi masters in his clan from the boy's summons. The Yuanjing would have rewarded him very well for bringing the spirit-calling bloodline into the clan. But he had handled things very badly. He had given Gao too much power, and he let him have freedom in greed of acquiring a new unit of Qi warriors.
The boy was way more valuable than thousands of Qi warriors. But it was too late now.
Wangzhe, who had been quiet so far, stood up, "He spoiled our food, killed our children, robbed our treasury, and took our trainer hostage. Should we not chase him down and kill him?"
Congming frowned, "You think you can defeat him with those powerful summons around him?"
Wangzhe responded, "If we deploy all desert clan warriors, there will be thousands of them; we should be able to hold off his summons."
Congming shook his head, "We are already low on food, our warriors are stretched thin protecting our borders, and now with summer approaching, raids will increase. You want to take thousands of warriors and chase the boy who even I cannot defeat?"
Reminded about the food problem, Wangzhe spoke again, "This is the Yuanjing clan's problem, and it's their responsibility to resolve it. Also, we followed Yuanjing clan's instructions. The Yuanjing should help with our food and resources—we should not die of poverty and hunger because of strife between Yuanjing members."
Xunze shook his head and spoke, "The boy was your clan's responsibility. While you did follow the orders, you handled things very poorly. You gave too much freedom to a lowly teacher and let him plot under your nose, which led to such a disaster on your clan. Yuanjing has lost a talented seed with the bloodline of a spirit caller because of your incompetence.
You believe Yuanjing will take your responsibility. If you utter such words again, Yuanjing might just destroy whatever is left of your clan."
Hearing this, all the members of Luyao shivered.
