Chapter 56: Yuanjing
Chapter 56: Yuanjing
Hearing about the enhanced absorption of statues after his breakthrough, Wuyi was not surprised.
He had been storing energy in statues diligently for a while so he could use them later. It was a pleasant surprise that he would be able to absorb more but nothing too shocking. That was what he thought until he got the new information from the Statue of knowledge, which said the larger the amount of energy statues receive, the sooner the statues will be able to show their full potential.
Right now, the statues were showing only around 0.1% of what their full potential was. This shocked Wuyi; if the power of the statues was just 0.1% right now, then what amazing things would they be able to do when they reach 100%? He had been feeding these statues for a few years now, and still, only 0.1% energy was absorbed. What kind of energy black hole were his statues?
It might take thousands of years to get them to 100%, given that he did not use them for anything or energy will deplete. After being thoroughly shocked, Wuyi left the chamber, went to have a bath, and then headed to the tower for his daily training.
Time continued to pass Wuyi threw himself into the daily routine of cultivating all night and taking fake lessons during the day. He ignored every word Gao uttered, just pretending to care. He knew Gao might spit blood if Wuyi revealed he had higher cultivation than him.
But Wuyi decided against it; reaching Qi adept so soon would raise doubts. Wuyi had no reason to get himself into trouble without being powerful enough. He believed only once he was a Qi lord would he be safe.
There are always hidden dragons; take Boluo's example, he was supposed to be weaker than Gao, and now Gao regrets it.
Gao kept training the children, after a month the children opened their second vital points. All their impurities came flowing out of their bodies like a dam was broken. The odor became unbearable, a pungent mix of sweat and impurities that filled the air.
Gao would often end the session at this point, sending them off to bathe.
He was very pleased; in just almost a year, he was able to help his students open two vital points. It was no surprise, though, that the children were able to open two vital points this soon.
Gao would personally sit with them and even use his qi in helping them open the vital points for them. Though this quickened the process, it led the children to have no understanding of how to channel or control the Qi properly. They could not nurture the vital points properly without Gao's help.
Wuyi could only feel pity for these children. The way Gao was using his Qi to enhance their cultivation left their foundations shaky, preventing them from advancing beyond Qi adept. They would only realize this if they ever reached the Qi adept stage.
The session ended with Gao satisfied with all the kids' progress. He used some foul words against the girls, even though they had succeeded too. With Wuyi, he had kept interaction to a minimum ever since the incident with Boluo.
After sending the children away, Gao returned to his chambers. He tried to get some rest but couldn't; his injuries were still not fully healed. He decided to walk around his lavish chambers, yet he found no peace. The humiliation he had suffered at the hands of that wretched boy Wuyi and Boluo still burned fresh in his mind, even months later.
In Lujingbao, after Congming, he was one of the well-respected people. No one had ever dared to lay a hand on him before. He was determined to make Wuyi and Boluo pay dearly for it. He knew about Chao too. And more than Boluo, it was Chao who concerned him most because of his poison methods.
He knew if he harmed Wuyi, Chao would sooner or later take revenge on him, so he had to find a way to eliminate all three of them.
It was not the first time that Gao was acting this way in his chambers. He had spent his nights contemplating the best solution for his revenge for a long time ever since the incident with Boluo occurred. While lessons had continued, and everything seemed the same.
An insidious plan had began forming in Gao's mind, which finally matured one day. If he wanted revenge, he would need help. Though strong in his own right, he was no match for Boluo, let alone if he had to face Chao and Boluo both for the damn bastard. He needed someone stronger to take revenge for him.
The next morning, Gao summoned an influential merchant from the lower town. He paid the man a thousand gold taels and instructed him to discreetly deliver a sealed message to the Yuanjing clan within a month. He also provided five low-grade spirit stones to ensure swift travel through teleportation channels.
The merchant agreed eagerly to the lucrative assignment and took off immediately to deliver the message to the Yuanjing clan.
The Yuanjing was a very large clan with many branches and followers, and many powerful elders. The Clan was nestled in the northern expanse of the Tianbao Kingdom. Their dominion, a vast tract of land rich in resources, stretched across the Fengming Province, with their ancestral seat just a stone's throw from the bustling capital city of Yuanjing.
This city, home to over half a million souls, thrived under the clan's influence, with nearly one hundred and fifty thousand of its denizens tracing their lineage back to the Yuanjing bloodline. Yuanjing's main trade was beast cores and hides. These cores, the essence of beasts, and the hides, each a tapestry of protective enchantments, were in heavy demand all over the continent.
But, selling beast cores and hides wasn't their only business. The Yuanjing clan was also famous for their skill in making special textiles. Their craftsmen didn't just make cloth; they also added enchantments to it, creating silks and brocades that were sought after by nobles and sects alike everywhere. The city's markets were full of life and color, showing off how good the clan was at business.
There were many merchant groups and workshops in the city flourishing protected by Yuanjing.
