Chapter 100: Young Master Black
Chapter 100: Young Master Black
This bunch of useless warriors under Master Yinhua command were not even Qi initiates; they bullied the weak, mistreated women, and extorted local merchants. Yet, they were wealthy, thanks to their right to invest in trade caravans from the north. The beast cores, furs, and exotic materials from Lianhua were highly sought after.
All one needed to do was venture into the untamed lands to the north or east and return alive
Master Yinhua Han's window offered a view toward the northwest. Once again, he forced himself to look away and took up his brush. With great care, he penned a letter:
"Honorable Lord,
Yesterday morning, a well-organized group of Qi warriors crossed the bridge into our town. They were members of the Black Brotherhood's outer branch. All were dressed in black, with their faces covered, except for their group leader. This group leader was a young man who seemed to have been born into a high noble clan. This young master identified himself as Young Master Black.
His banner bore the symbols of three black lanterns. They claimed to be warriors of the outer branch of the Black Brotherhood organization of our Empire of Longzhi. He mentioned that they had recently returned from conflicts in the Six Provinces. Given their proper documentation, I saw no reason to detain them"
He frowned at the memory. No one had informed him that a force of Qi warriors was approaching from the southwest. Dressed in a simple silk robe and aged trousers, he had been called to the gate early in the morning. Initially, he was left in awe and fear upon seeing the group, but later, he felt shame when the Young Master looked at him as if he were a peasant.
The young leader was adorned in luxurious silk garments and a mystical black cloak, and rode a majestic horse that was a lower spirit beast. Behind him were more than fifty Qi warriors. Master Yinhua Han had neither the manpower nor the authority to detain them, and he was relieved that the encounter had been peaceful
His eyes drifted back to the mountains.
Master Yinhua remembered that Lady Xueyan, the Pavilion Mistress of the Lotus Blossom Pavilion who controls Yushan stronghold, had requested fifty warriors last autumn, a request he had to decline due to his own shortage of men. He had like two Qi initiates; how could he assist her?
Master Yinhua sighed again and continued with his letter:
"I humbly request that you either relieve me of my duties or allocate the necessary resources to bolster our warrior ranks to the appropriate level.
Your most obedient servant,
Yinhua Han"
He had done his duty by informing the king about the empire sending these warriors to the Tianqin kingdom. After he was done writing, Yinhua Han leaned back in his chair, contemplating an invitation to dine with the head of the local beast traders. Deciding he had done enough for the day, he left the letter on his desk and prepared to retire.
* * * * *
A lot of changes happened in the last two years.
As the caravans of top noble clans of Kaliyuan and Huanghou, which included the Jinxiu clan, Haoling clan, the Liangshi clan, Yuenfeng clan, Huanzhu clan, and Xiangyu, were being robbed too, they decided to help the traders and merchant group by ambushing the New Demonic Ten.
It was not like all of their caravans were lost; the Qingyang clan, which was the leader of the area, protected some of the caravans of these nobles but they had a limited number of Qi warriors, only four Qi adepts, from which they could only dispatch two Qi adepts at a time.
Tired of the Demonic Ten's relentless pillaging, the nobles and trading leaders of the region between Kaliyuan and Huanghou decided to form a group of Qi warriors to ambush the Demonic Ten. They brought not just normal warriors but Qi Initiates of level five and above. Leading them were two Qi adepts who were from the Qingyang clan.
Since the Demonic Ten only had one Qi adept, they were certain they would be able to successfully ambush and capture the new Demonic Ten.
To ensure the ambush succeeded, they decided to spread the rumor that expensive cultivation material was being transported while in reality, they were transporting the Qi warriors ready to ambush the new Demonic Ten.
The procession for the ambush left, and the traders and nobles waited for the news patiently. But news never came. Just like many other trade caravans, this procession had disappeared into thin air with no news of what happened to them. But one thing was clear: the ambush had failed.
Instead of being furious, this failed ambush made the nobles and traders fearful. After this, the nobles and traders were left with no choice but to ask for help from the empire. While they waited for the empire to send people to help the region, most of the traders and nobles had to depend on Wuyi's trading vanguard for assistance.
Wuyi's warriors helped the traders and nobles diligently without any extra cost, leading them to earn deep gratitude from everyone. The Traders Vanguard faced some challenges from a few clans, but after the untimely death of the Patriarch of the Qingyang clan, who was a Qi master, no clan tried to challenge Wuyi's group.
Even after a year, when the empire did not send anyone to solve the nobles' problems, Xuebi humbly requested the nobles and merchants to send a letter of request to the empire and get his Traders Vanguard approved as an outer faction of the Black Brotherhood, which was a special faction belonging to the empire.
Black Brotherhood was a special group of warriors who responded to the calls of nobles and people all over the empire against the demonics. They were always fighting battles against demonics on many fronts. They rarely had time to respond to merchants and nobles from some lower trading region of the six provinces about a problem involving 10 bandits.
