Chapter 728 - 728 718 Dragon Disaster
Chapter 728: Chapter 718: Dragon Disaster Chapter 728: Chapter 718: Dragon Disaster “A young dragon and a fully grown red dragon, to claim this kind of battle power, I’d have to pay some price.”
Green Dragon Bill squatted on the hillside, weighing his options, “There are plenty of opportunities to get rich, no need to risk my life just for the treasure of a young dragon. After all, you lose if you fight to death, better to call a few dragon allies! Even though we’d have to share the loot, we wouldn’t get hurt. Later on, we could recruit them to ambush other wild dragons—still wouldn’t be a loss!”
Having figured everything out, Green Dragon Bill brought out a Communication Crystal then poured his magical power into it. He immediately got in contact with a young dragon he knew.
“Hey, is that you Marcus? There’s a big deal I want to discuss with you.”
“Bill?” An astonished voice came, then it turned somewhat impatient, “What big deal? Hurry up and spit it out. I’m busy, and don’t want to waste my time.”
“I found a wild red dragon.” Bill got straight to the point.
…
“Your Majesty, this is a view sent back by the patrolling Storm Giant and I think you need to take a look.” After receiving a message, Dragonborn Maid Mia started fiddling with the Magic Array, connecting to the viewpoint of a Storm Giant, and displaying what he saw to Muria.
“Hm, what happened?” The half-asleep Muria opened his eyes and slightly turned his head. After releasing all the five Colored Dragons that he wanted to tame on Xena Pus, he had also sent his own Personal Guard, the Storm Giants, as supervisors to follow them. Otherwise, Muria worried that a lack of supervision might lead these dragons to party too hard and forget their boundaries.
“As you can see, this is happening right now.”
A projected hologram appeared before Muria, then a scene, that rendered him speechless, unfolded—two green dragons were teaming up to pound two red dragons into the ground.
Notably, after the fight, the two green dragons used magic to bind the red dragons and tossed them aside. Then brashly began to loot the treasure from inside a dragon’s lair. One dragon even kicked the other red dragon a few times, seemingly because the loot wasn’t enough. While the other green dragon began to interrogate the bigger red dragon, asking for the location of its nest—a robust bandit-like aura was exuding from them.
If they were seen, not as dragons but humans, these two green dragons were basically two brazen robbers robbing a house. Not only did they empty the male’s house, but they were also asking where the female’s house was.
“Your Majesty, should we intervene in this behavior?” Mia frowned as she watched the scene unfold, “According to the Storm Giant’s investigation, these red dragons did not provoke the green dragons. It was the green dragons who initiated the fight, reducing them to this state.”
“There’s no need for that.” Muria vetoed Mia’s suggestion, “You need to understand, these are wild Five Colored Dragons, unlike the ones on the island. We can’t treat them alike. They need to receive formal Dragon Race education. Have the Storm Giant inform them to bring these two dragons back to Xena Pus.”
“What about the treasure they’ve acquired?”
“It’s what they’ve earned through their own efforts and should naturally belong to them.” Muria had yet become shameless enough to rob these dragons of their winnings.
To be honest, the dragons in Xena Pus were somewhat bitter. Most of them didn’t have wealth that matched their abilities and status. Most were basically the paupers of the Dragon Race. After all, Xena Pus didn’t offer them the opportunity to accumulate wealth through primitive means. Any dragon attempting to do so would be taught by Muria what it meant to wish they were dead.
Muria’s orders quickly reached the ears of the two green dragons, and his attitude was also conveyed among the circle of Five Colored Dragons. All dragons understood that Muria didn’t oppose them plundering their wild Five Colored Dragon brethren, and even their loot could entirely belong to them.
This situation caused all the Five Colored Dragons to become excited. As they committed to taming those Beastman villages, they also began to keep an eye on the traces of wild dragons on this continent. Then, one battle after another between the giant dragons was set off in the wilderness.
Then naturally, all conflicts with the wild dragons ended with the victory of the Xena Pus giant dragons. The wild dragons’ were robbed of their wealth, they themselves were sealed, and then sent to Xena Pus to receive formal Dragon Race education.
Even if the Xena Pus giant dragons encountered unbeatable dragons, they, who were skilled in magic, could easily escape. After all, their opponents were basically magic illiterate and had no means to stop them.
And the escaping Five Colored Dragons would call their friends and siblings or even know powerful dragons. Then go back to seek revenge—if two dragons weren’t enough, they would summon three, if three weren’t enough they would keep calling… until they won.
A Dragon Race war silently occurred in this remote corner of the continent, unnoticed by most powers. The conflicts that took place here usually involved single-digit Giant Dragons. They weren’t large scale, but they occurred quite often.
…
In a small woodland area, a frail hatchling dragon hid in the dense shrubs, cautiously concealing its aura. It fixed its gaze on a wild boar not far away that was busy rummaging in the mud, munching on plant roots. The boar was newly matured, its four gleaming fangs a terrifying sight.
The boar, constantly scavenging for food, came near the shrub where the baby dragon was hiding. As it nosed through the dirt, excitedly eating the sweet roots, the young dragon fiercely sprang out from his hiding place. The sunlight glinted off his black scales; this was a newly hatched black dragon, hunting alone for some unknown reason.
Unfortunately, the black dragon’s long-planned hunting operation failed. When he leapt at the boar, which was just beginning to resist, the boar flung him off and then fleed. The hatchling dragon’s strength was too weak to overpower a boar of similar size.
The hunt-losing little black dragon extended his claws in despair, peeling off tree bark nearby and stuffing it into his mouth, chewing it before swallowing. He needed to eat. After gnawing on leaves and roots for a while, the poor hatchling pitiably began to eat some dirt.
An observer, hidden nearby, couldn’t bear it any longer. His figure appeared out of nowhere and quickly materialized. He extended his claws to lift the black dragon from the dirt hole, setting him in front of him, as they eyed each other.
“Listen, kid, even though you’re a newborn baby dragon, the fact you’ve sunk so low as to eat dirt is sad enough. But where’s your mom? Doesn’t she care about you?”
The baby dragon, still with bits of earth around his mouth, stared blankly at the huge beast who lifted him. That’s right, even though the creature before him bore black armor scales like him and exuded Dragon Prestige similar to his mother’s, he didn’t believe they were of the same species.
Besides the color, there was nothing about this creature that resembled his mother. Even though it was also a dragon, the explosive muscles this dragon was endowed with were impossible for a black dragon to possess; its scale armor was angular, it didn’t look natural at all. And on his face, instead of the withered bonelike faceguard of black dragons, there were clear, bulging muscles adding an imposing air to his appearance.
“My mom is asleep.” The hatchling dragon instantly cowered and trembled in front of this unusually strong black dragon. In his memory, there was no such thing as kin sincerely conversing, so, he immediately sold out his mother.
“Unacceptable.” Hearing the baby dragon’s words, the monster-like black dragon snorted coldly; sparks burst from his nostrils, leaving the little black dragon even more bewildered. Black dragons could never spew sparks – this wasn’t a black dragon, this was a monster.
“But even though your mother is irresponsible, you’re pretty good, kid. You have some hunting skills. They aren’t great, but they’re something. And you’ve got traces of training on you, which is rare!”
The overly robust, strange black dragon looked up and down at the small hatchling, very satisfied. If he could take him back to Xena Pus, he would get a handsome reward. Judging from his just-concluded performance in the Dragon Race, the hatchling was quite an anomaly – and anomaly equals genius.
“Point out direction for me! Take me to your mom; I’ll help you demand justice. How irresponsible she is as a mother, to be thus negligent, deserves a punishment!” The indignant Black Dragon Aleo Mandel from Xena Pus said. He remembered that he too was an abandoned black dragon cub, not yet in his teens. Fortunately, he was picked up by a black dragon from Xena Pus and taken in; thus, his dragon life took a massive turn.
“Oh, okay!” Finding that this dragon didn’t seem to mean him any harm, the dazed hatchling nodded obediently and pointed out the location of his mother’s nest.
Boom! Boom!
Huge, tremulous roars echoed, accompanied by the sounds of trees breaking and falling. All these signs indicated that a giant creature was approaching. As the roar grew louder, a familiar Dragon Prestige permeated the air. The sleeping black dragon in the damp dragon cave opened her eyes, turned her head towards the direction of the nest entrance, her expression filled with puzzles. “There’s an adult black dragon visiting! Seems male? But I gave birth recently!”
But the ever-strengthening aura did not allow the mother dragon much time to think. She glanced at the two hatchlings huddled in fear in a corner, noticing one few.
“Where is Caesar?”
Before she had a chance to ponder over where her oldest but eccentric son had run off to, the mother black dragon hastily stood up, crawled out of her nest, and saw a very robust black dragon standing on the edge of her nest. This black dragon, that walked in an upright position, was insatiably examining his surroundings. Having seen her living condition, a scowl of undisguised contempt marred his eyes.
“What a shame you live in a stench-filled place like this your mother has taken you to,” grumbled the grotesquely strong black dragon, as he lowered his head to look at the little black dragon squatting by his foot. He showed total disregard for the mother black dragon who was exerting her Dragon Prestige to her utmost.
