Kill Me, My Love

Chapter 37

Chapter 37

"Abaddon"

The road was long. Samael firmly held Lina in his arms and confidently walked down.

The girl felt a turmoil within. What awaits them ahead? There were exactly two weeks left until October thirty-first. And they had only vague ideas about salvation and a bunch of enemies closing in from all sides. Lina felt that there was no longer a safe place. Surrounding them was nothing but treachery and deceit. People, light, dark... Each had a grudge against her, each had their own plan and goal, and each needed only her.

– What are you thinking about? – Sam started the conversation first.

– Oh, nothing special, – the girl replied. – Olivia is going to have a hard time because of us.

– She’s immortal, – Sam answered briefly. – Besides, she's got more than a hundred years behind her, so she’ll manage.

– Why is she like that? Like the Snow Queen... Put a finger to her lips, and she’ll bite off a whole hand.

– Life with her father wasn't easy. And, don’t forget, besides being a mother, she is, first of all, dark. And the dark ones aren’t known for having a gentle nature, – Samael smiled ironically.

It’s true, it’s true, even his temperament couldn’t be called “gentle”...

– And why are your parents...

– Not together? – Sam finished Lina’s sentence. – Dad cheated, mom cheated, they never loved each other. They were together just because Lucifer said so. One day, there came a moment when both of their patience ran out. Mom immediately moved to Earth, and dad stayed in Abaddon, and that’s it. They haven't seen or communicated with each other since then. Each lived their own life.

– Can they really have had no feelings for one another? – the girl asked.

She couldn’t understand how a couple could live together for decades, have an adult son, and feel no affection, or even basic respect for each other.

– Of course they had feelings. Hypocrisy, hatred, pride, greed. A whole spectrum of various emotions that are as far removed from what we call the word “love” as Elysium is from Abaddon.

– Did it concern you?

– No. Never, – Samael shook his head in denial. – The main thing is that they don’t meddle in my affairs, and the rest they can solve on their own. And, by the way, we’re almost there, so we should change.

The man set Lina down on the stairs and snapped his fingers. In his hands appeared two black cloaks. The fabric felt pleasant to the touch, cool, and wrapped the girl from head to toe. Even her face was obscured, as low as Sam pulled the hood over her.

– Now, about the essentials. Be quiet; I’ll do all the talking. Don’t make any sudden moves, don’t touch me. Act restrained and cold. No one should suspect who you are and what our purpose is for being here.

– Alright, – Lina nodded. – What should I do if they guess and try to separate us?

– That won’t happen, – the man said firmly. – I don’t want you even considering the possibility of such a turn of events.

Samael looked at the girl with eyes full of absolute faith in their strength. Then he gently sunk his hand into her hair and kissed her. Tenderly, enveloping her with his lips, gently teasing her with his tongue. He savored every moment of this kiss, holding his beloved close.

Lina froze, filled with a sense of wonder that encompassed her heart. Happiness poured through her body like a river, making her tremble in his arms. She felt like a porcelain doll, cherished so gently that she wished to dissolve in these feelings forever.

And though both of them wished to turn these moments of kissing into eternity, they had to pull away from each other. The man slowly withdrew, adjusted the hood on the girl once more, and said:

– I’ll go first, you follow me. If you feel scared, just look at the floor, okay?

– Yes.

Samael walked ahead, and Lina followed him.

The stairs ended abruptly. Ahead stretched a long, straight corridor. Shiny and black, like a brand-new shoe polished to a shine. And the smell was appropriate. Cigarette smoke and a sweetish scent that immediately evoked distaste.

They walked not long, for at the end of the corridor a surprise awaited them.

A man with cunning, prickly eyes, dressed in a black suit, a tie, attractive, young. With a bright white smile that shone in the darkness like a precious gem. Lina did not know what role he played. She expected to see something else: rows of sharp teeth, a stench, bloodshot eyes, claws. Instead, the first inhabitant of Abaddon truly surprised her.

– Payment? – asked the handsome one.

Without further ado, Samael pulled two green bills from his pocket and handed them to the stranger.

– Americans, – the stranger smiled. – I love Americans.

He inhaled the aroma of money, licked it with the tip of his tongue, and stuffed it into his wallet.

– Go ahead... – as soon as he said this, something reSambling an elevator appeared in the darkness behind him.

A red light turned on, and the elevator opened. They followed the guide and stepped inside. The sweetish aroma reached its peak. Lina realized that from now on she would forever hate similar smells. The handsome one pressed the lowest floor button - 666.

Something wild happened: the black walls, like tar, suddenly became transparent. Then the glass capsule began to fall rapidly downwards. There was no point of support, only free fall into the abyss, while tongues of flame danced around and charred bodies of people screamed in agony.

Twisted faces in the fire surrounded the elevator; they tried to jump in, crawl onto it, to somehow escape the torture. However, all in vain, the capsule continued to plummet downwards. Worse was yet to come. Behind the wall of fire awaited a river of blood. Thick, viscous blood bubbled around, pulling them into its crimson whirlpool.

Lina closed her eyes, knowing that in a few moments she would feel nauseous. She desperately wanted to find Sam's warm palm, squeeze it, and feel safe. However, that couldn't be done.

The road continued. Ten minutes passed before they reached their destination.

– That's it, hellish suffering awaits you, my dears, – the man said as the elevator stopped.

Sam was the first to step out, followed by Lina... As soon as they did, the strange device shut closed and shot upward.

– Where are we? – the girl asked, looking around in wonder.
