Chapter 1097 - 819: The Mysterious High Priest (Part 2)
This sentence was like a bucket of cold water poured over Liz’s head.
Immediately, Liz hastily explained.
"She is an old lady around seventy or eighty years old, with an appearance roughly like this..."
Liz clearly remembered Grandma Mia’s appearance, describing it well enough for Reiger to vaguely imagine the figure.
But despite Liz’s explanation, Ivy still looked confused.
"An old lady of seventy or eighty... there are many like that where we come from, but as far as I know, I’ve never seen an old lady exactly as Your Highness described."
In other words, Ivy was completely unfamiliar with Mia, having never even heard of her name.
This left Liz inevitably disappointed.
"Well, well, do you know who my parents are?"
When asking this question, Liz herself had little hope.
There’s no way anyone could know such a random thing, right?
Just as Reiger and Liz were thinking this, Ivy’s response surprised them both.
"I don’t know who Your Highness’s parents are," Ivy replied honestly. "But the High Priest seems to have some idea about this matter."
Upon hearing this, both Reiger and Liz’s expressions brightened.
"Then, who is this High Priest?"
Liz quickly asked.
"The High Priest is just the High Priest."
Ivy’s answer remained straightforward.
Later, under the persistent questioning of Reiger and Liz, they finally came to know who this so-called High Priest was.
Simply put, the High Priest was the highest leader in the Hidden Land.
According to Ivy, unlike the many smaller nations on the continent of Akasha, the Hidden Land had only one official authority, and that was the Temple.
The Temple was like the Guild of Maze City Orario in the Earth Mistake World, having the authority to manage the Hidden Land, a sanctuary for the continuation of humanity, responsible for maintaining its order and peace. It served as both the Guardian of humanity and the Guardian of the Hidden Land, holding a truly extraordinary status.
Within the Temple, the position of highest status belonged to the Priest.
The Priest was a servant of "God."
The Hidden Land adhered to the traditions of the Ancient Magic Civilization, always regarding "God" as the sole faith.
During the Ancient Magic Civilization Period, it was the heroes of the Reinnaier clan who listened to the will of "God" and received power, but the ones who served "God" were these Priests of the Temple.
They were like saints in common religious beliefs, enjoying an extraordinary status and noble identity. Even in ancient times, they ranked only below the royal family.
The High Priest was the one among all Priests with the highest status, noblest identity, and greatest strength.
In a Hidden Land where the royal family no longer existed, this High Priest was the leader of all Priests, the supreme leader of the Temple.
If not for the rule that Hidden Land’s people would never call themselves kings, considering only Reinnaier worthy of the title, this High Priest would be the king of the Hidden Land.
According to Ivy, during the Ancient Magic Civilization, the High Priest even had the honor of sitting beside the king, truly a position of one standing below only one but above all others.
So, in other words...
"Does this High Priest know about my origins?"
Liz whispered.
"It should be like that," Ivy said with confidence. "When we were summoned, the High Priest’s attitude gave the impression that they were very familiar with Your Highness’s affairs."
"Leo and I even heard from other Priests that the High Priest had seen you when you were just born."
In this case, this so-called High Priest was indeed very likely to know who Liz’s parents were.
Having seen Liz when she was just a newborn, it would be hard to believe that they didn’t know who her parents were or where they were now, and Reiger would be the first one not to believe it.
Unfortunately, Ivy obviously could only disclose up to here, the rest was unrelated to her.
Liz fell into a conflicted silence, stopping her speech.
Reiger continued to pat Liz’s head and after a while, seemed to casually ask Ivy a question.
"Do you know what the dimension cube is?"
Liz’s reason for seeking out the Hidden Land was to uncover her origins.
Reiger’s reason for seeking out the Hidden Land, however, lay in wanting to learn the origin of the dimension cube.
Including Ivy, everyone who inherited from the ancient magic civilization referred to the dimension cube, now whirling in Reiger’s mind, as "God."
If so, where exactly did this "God" come from, and what secrets did it hold that he didn’t know? Reiger could only seek answers from the people of the Hidden Land.
"Dimension cube?"
At Reiger’s seemingly nonchalant inquiry, Ivy’s face once again showed confusion.
"What’s that?"
...Alright, I knew it would be like this.
Reiger remained expressionless on the outside but sighed internally.
After Ivy showed a total lack of knowledge about certain secrets, Reiger had roughly guessed this outcome.
However, isn’t this just reasonable?
Be it matters related to Reinnaier or the dimension cube, in the ancient magic civilization, these were considered top-tier affairs, even top-secret matters.
Such secrets would naturally only be held by the relevant high authorities.
Though Ivy and Leo were skilled individuals sent by the Hidden Land to fetch Liz, they were ultimately only that.
They were there to carry out a mission, and they simply couldn’t be considered high-ranking themselves.
"It seems that to acquire what we want, we still need to rely on that High Priest."
Reiger laid out the next steps clearly.
The High Priest was a figure whose status during the ancient magic civilization was second only to that of the royal family and was the most exalted of the priests serving the "God" in the temple.
As for Liz’s origins, it was obvious that this High Priest held some clues in hand.
Similarly, concerning the dimension cube, this High Priest surely had a clearer understanding than others.
After all, the dimension cube was essentially their cherished "God"...
"One last question."
Reiger tentatively asked Ivy.
"Can you reach this High Priest?"
The answer to this question was naturally negative.
"The High Priest’s status is so noble that we can’t easily contact or reach them at will," Ivy shook her head and said, "Were it not for this task involving the royal family, we wouldn’t have even come into contact with the High Priest."
Two skilled experts, with one being a Sword Saint whose strength not only equaled but often surpassed the veteran Sword Saint, and another being a practical Magician no less powerful than the former, were both unable to even meet one High Priest?
Just how exalted and mighty was this High Priest?
If this were on the continent of Akasha, individuals like Ivy and Leo would be treated as honored guests no matter which nation, with even the king having to be courteous towards them.
But in the Hidden Land, such individuals could not even see a High Priest’s face day-to-day?
"This is really intriguing," Reiger squinted his eyes and said, "Then, how can we get to the Hidden Land?"
Yes, this was indeed the final question.
However, Ivy’s answer this time surprised Reiger.
"It’s quite simple to come out of the Hidden Land, you just need to use the teleportation array provided by the temple."
"But to return to the Hidden Land, you must find the space junction point through which humanity retreated into the sanctuary and open the passage from there."
"This is also to prevent the disasters of the past from affecting the Hidden Land."
This Hidden Land is indeed a place where it’s easier to leave but difficult to enter.
"Where is the space junction point?"
Reiger focused his gaze on Ivy.
Facing Reiger’s gaze, Ivy gave the somewhat unexpected answer.
"To the north, in the Tistis Kingdom."
Upon this statement, not only Reiger, but even Liz was stunned.
"Tistis Kingdom..."
The master and servant pair exchanged looks for a moment, then both smiled wryly.
Well, great.
It seems visiting this queens’ country is a necessity.
