Invincible through Touching Corpses

Chapter 147 - 146: Distributing the Bonus

Chapter 147 - 146: Distributing the Bonus

After parting with the women, Lin Xinghai soon arrived at the Heaven-Sundering Mercenary Corps’ headquarters.

A good number of people had already gathered at the headquarters. Everyone wore a smile, clearly in high spirits.

As Lin Xinghai passed through the first-floor training room, people called out greetings one after another.

"Brother Hai!"

"Brother Hai’s here."

"Hello, Captain Lin!"

Everyone looked at Lin Xinghai with a mixture of worship, admiration, and envy.

Lin Xinghai nodded in acknowledgment as he headed for the second floor.

In the second-floor office hall, a space had been cleared in the middle for a desk where Fang Tianhe sat imposingly. Across from him, a mercenary looked at a form, nodding continuously as he listened to Fang Tianhe speak.

The look of pleasant surprise on the man’s face was impossible to hide.

Finally, when Fang Tianhe finished, the mercenary immediately took out his Identity Card and handed it to a member of the logistics support team to process the Points transfer.

"You’re finally here. You’re the only one left who hasn’t settled their bonus," Fang Tianhe said, unable to resist stretching his neck. It let out a series of CRACKS, a clear sign he’d been sitting there for quite a while.

"So, how much do I get?" Lin Xinghai asked without ceremony, plopping right down onto a stool.

"This is a spreadsheet I put together myself. Take a look." Fang Tianhe pushed the form across to Lin Xinghai.

Lin Xinghai raised an eyebrow, but he had a vague understanding of what Fang Tianhe meant. For previous missions, the logistics support team had always calculated the bonus distributions based on video recordings. This ensured every single transaction was absolutely fair, just, and transparent.

But this mission involved a war between two major Mercenary Corps, not to mention the weapons provided by the military and the Morgan Conglomerate. None of these details could be leaked.

Therefore, a task like distributing Points couldn’t possibly be handed over to the logistics team members. Fang Tianhe had to handle it personally. But in doing so, it was inevitable that there would be some minor discrepancies in the Merit distribution.

Lin Xinghai took the spreadsheet and glanced at it. He noticed that instead of a specific number of Points, a percentage was listed next to each person’s name.

Regular members received a bonus of 0.5% to 1%, depending on their performance on the battlefield.

Even Roger and Shen Han only received 3% and 4% of the bonus, respectively.

A bonus of 3% or 4% might seem small, but that wasn’t the case at all.

Just selling the weapons and Mecha to the military had earned them 650,000 Points. Add to that the 80,000 Points from hunting Zombies during the mission and the 8,000 Points for completing it, and the grand total came to 738,000.

Even a 1% bonus amounted to 7,380 Points.

That’s why even those who received a 0.5% bonus were all smiles. Under normal circumstances, it would have taken them who knows how long to save up such a fortune.

As for Lin Xinghai and Fang Tianhe, their bonus percentages were 40% and 35%, respectively.

At the bottom of the spreadsheet, there was a note explaining why the two of them received such large bonuses.

Lin Xinghai’s contributions were obvious. He had secured the Mountain and Sea Mercenary Corps as an ally. At the start of the battle, he had risked approaching the Wild Wolf Mercenary Corps and used a Plasma Grenade to disable their cloaking device.

Then, he destroyed the Heavy Machine Gun on the Wild Wolf Mercenary Corps’ Armored Vehicle, breaking through their defense system and allowing their side to gain an overwhelming advantage.

Of course, more importantly, he had turned the tide by single-handedly holding off the Fierce Tiger Mercenary Corps.

With these Merits as his foundation, no one could complain about Lin Xinghai taking a 40% bonus.

If not for Lin Xinghai, the final outcome of this battle would very likely have been the complete annihilation of their Heaven-Sundering Mercenary Corps.

As for Fang Tianhe, his performance in combat this time wasn’t particularly outstanding, at least not compared to Lin Xinghai.

Fang Tianhe’s main contribution was contacting the military to obtain thermal weapons like personal missiles. Of course, the fact that this equipment could later be recovered and sold to the military was also to his credit.

So, it was perfectly normal for him to receive a 35% bonus.

"Your 40% bonus also includes the contribution of the Mountain and Sea Mercenary Corps. As for how to distribute it, they’re your Affiliated Mercenary Corps, so you can decide for yourself. If you have no problem with this, sign it, and I’ll transfer the Points to you now," Fang Tianhe said as soon as Lin Xinghai finished reading.

"No problem," Lin Xinghai said.

Fang Tianhe worked quickly. Before long, Lin Xinghai saw a transaction notification appear on his wrist-mounted computer: a deposit of 295,200 Points.

However, right after receiving this transfer, another deposit notification popped up for 55,000 Points.

"That’s the Points you lent the Mercenary Corps before. I’ve paid you back, with interest," Fang Tianhe explained.

Lin Xinghai checked his account balance. It was now a staggering 414,073 Points.

’My Points actually broke 400,000.’ Lin Xinghai reflected. With his current wealth, he could even buy a Mecha.

"By the way, there are two more things I need to discuss with you," Fang Tianhe said seriously once the transfer was complete.

"Go on," Lin Xinghai replied, adopting a posture of listening intently.

"The first thing is your position. Your strength was on full display this time, and I don’t think there’s any need to hide it anymore. How about I promote you directly to vice-commander?" As Fang Tianhe asked, he felt a little apprehensive.

He was afraid Lin Xinghai would say something like, ’No thanks, I’m going to strike out on my own.’

"No problem, you can make the arrangements." Lin Xinghai wasn’t too concerned about such things.

Although he hadn’t been in this world for long, he had come to thoroughly understand the nature of this apocalypse. The strong are respected. As for things like positions, as long as he had the strength, he would get them sooner or later.

"The second thing is, I’d like to discuss what percentage of the profits you’ll take when we go on missions in the future," Fang Tianhe said in a consultative tone.

"What do you think is appropriate?" Lin Xinghai asked in return.

"Fifty percent of the net profit." This was the percentage Fang Tianhe and Shen Han had ultimately decided on after discussing it.

He was afraid that if the percentage was too low, Lin Xinghai wouldn’t be happy, and worried that other Mercenary Corps would poach him. But if it was too high, it would hinder the development of the Heaven-Sundering Mercenary Corps.

"No problem," Lin Xinghai agreed readily.

He was indeed satisfied with this profit-sharing ratio. Besides, the stronger the Heaven-Sundering Mercenary Corps and the Mountain and Sea Mercenary Corps became, the more it would benefit him. He didn’t mind sharing some of the profits.

Hearing Lin Xinghai’s decisive answer, Fang Tianhe finally let out a long sigh of relief.

This way, he no longer had to worry about Lin Xinghai being poached by other Mercenary Corps.

"Is there anything else? If not, I’ll be going," Lin Xinghai said as he sent a message to Gao Mountain, asking to meet up to settle the Points.

"Actually, there is one more thing. A big shot wants to see you," Fang Tianhe said, his words making Lin Xinghai’s heart race.
