Chapter 461: Exchanging Contribution Points

Chapter 461: Exchanging Contribution Points

What Liu Feng said made sense. Each student had only one Identity Token, which served as their sole identifier within the academy. Even if someone wanted to grab the wrong one, they would need to have more than one, to begin with.

However, Ye Qingchen’s situation was special. After all, even his Divine Wood Order had been given to him by Elder Yang. He didn’t actually have his own Identity Token.

The commotion caught the attention of Zi Xing, who had just turned in a mission. Curious, she walked over and was surprised to find Ye Qingchen at the center of the crowd.

Zi Xing approached Ye Qingchen and asked, "Junior Brother Ye, what’s going on?"

"Senior Sister Zi Xing," Liu Feng said irritably, "this guy is a complete scoundrel. He somehow got his hands on an Identity Token, and now with only three contribution points on it, he has the gall to try and redeem a Treasure. He’s infuriated the supervising teacher, who’s about to drag him to the Enforcement Division for questioning!"

"I bet he’ll be expelled from the academy soon! Good riddance. A morally corrupt person like him, who harbors ill intentions toward you, should have been kicked out long ago!"

Zi Xing frowned. Seeing Ye Qingchen’s innocent expression, she suspected there was more to the story. After a moment of thought, she took out her own Identity Token and handed it to the teacher. "Teacher," she said, "if a student is sent to the Enforcement Division, their entire academic career is practically ruined. Please, just deduct the points from my account instead."

The teacher wasn’t actually that angry. He had only threatened to punish Ye Qingchen because the crowd’s jeering had put him in a position where he couldn’t easily back down.

In truth, the teacher knew that sending Ye Qingchen to the Enforcement Division would be a bad idea. Given that old man from the Divine Wood Academy’s overprotective nature, he knew he would likely be the one to suffer in the end.

Now that Zi Xing had offered him an out, the teacher had no intention of making things difficult for Ye Qingchen. He took her Identity Token, glanced at Ye Qingchen, and said, "I hope this is the last time something like this happens."

A surge of jealousy washed over Liu Feng as he watched this unfold. "Senior Sister Zi Xing, you can’t!" he said hurriedly. "The sword he wants is worth 50,000 contribution points! Is it really worth it for someone like him?"

Zi Xing shook her head. "Junior Brother Ye saved my life. As it happens, I earned these points from the mission I just completed in the Training Mountain Range. If he hadn’t saved me back then, I wouldn’t have them at all. Redeeming a Treasure for him is the least I can do."

Liu Feng opened his mouth to argue, but Ye Qingchen spoke first. "Teacher, there’s no need to use Senior Sister Zi Xing’s Identity Token. I’ll find a way to get the contribution points myself."

Ye Qingchen would not accept her kindness, especially after what she had just said.

He had originally saved Zi Xing only because he had copied her Earth Rank Martial Technique, the Fire Spirit Charm Shadow. If he accepted her contribution points to redeem a Treasure now, he would be truly indebted to her.

Hearing Ye Qingchen refuse her offer, Zi Xing said in surprise, "Junior Brother Ye, do you have any idea what it means to be sent to the Enforcement Division? At a time like this, you’re still worried about contribution points? You can just earn them back later and repay me then, can’t you?"

Liu Feng scoffed. "Repay you later? Setting aside whether he could ever earn that many points, you need those to redeem treasures for your breakthrough! You have to prepare for the Sect’s newcomer competition. If you give them to him, what about your competition?"

Zi Xing was taken aback for a moment before her expression turned resolute. "You don’t need to worry about that. I have my own methods."

Ye Qingchen waved his hand dismissively. Regardless of whether Zi Xing had a solution, he couldn’t bring himself to accept such a huge favor. He flatly refused and said to the teacher, "Teacher, give me three hours. I will return in three hours to complete the exchange."

The teacher glared at Ye Qingchen, annoyed. Someone finally gave me an out, and this kid refuses to take it. Fine. Since you’re courting death, I’ll wait three hours and see how you plan to clean up this mess.

In truth, Ye Qingchen wouldn’t have dared to make such a bold claim a moment ago. However, while he was racking his brain for a solution, he happened to see a disciple at the Spirit Pill counter trading pills for contribution points.

As a Sixth-Rank Pill King, Ye Qingchen had no shortage of Spirit Pills. If he traded all of them for contribution points, wouldn’t his problem be solved?

Moreover, if Spirit Pills could be traded for contribution points, then surely the numerous Martial Techniques he had copied could be as well.

With this in mind, Ye Qingchen headed straight for the Spirit Pill counter.

Zi Xing, Liu Feng, and the other disciples who were waiting for a show all followed along, eager to see how Ye Qingchen planned to get out of this.

"Teacher, can Spirit Pills be traded for contribution points?" Ye Qingchen asked the instructor behind the counter.

The instructor was aware of the earlier commotion and simply nodded at Ye Qingchen.

Ye Qingchen then took out a Sixth-Rank Spirit Pill, placed it on the counter, and asked, "Teacher, how many contribution points can this fetch?"

The instructor picked up the Spirit Pill and was surprised to find it was a top-grade, Sixth-Rank Spirit Pill. "A pill of this quality can be exchanged for one thousand contribution points!"

"Good. I have more," Ye Qingchen said with a nod, then dumped all the Spirit Pills from his storage ring onto the counter.

"What? How does this kid have so many Spirit Pills?"

"Trading Spirit Pills for contribution points... what a lavish display of wealth! To buy these same pills would cost at least five times as many points!"

"Did you see that? Most of them are top-grade pills! There aren’t just Sixth-Rank ones, but Fifth- and Fourth-Rank too. Did this kid rob an elixir emporium?"

Ye Qingchen ignored the incessant murmuring of the crowd around him.

Spirit Pills were precious, but he could always refine more as long as he had the medicinal herbs. A favor to Zi Xing, however, was a debt he didn’t know how long it would take to repay.

As Zi Xing gazed at the small mountain of Spirit Pills on the counter, she recalled how Ye Qingchen had unhesitatingly tossed her a Sixth-Rank Spirit Pill back in the Training Mountain Range. A flicker of understanding crossed her face, and her gaze on Ye Qingchen filled with even greater astonishment.

"H-Hold on, student. Give me a moment to tally these," the instructor said, completely astounded. He had never seen a student sell so many Spirit Pills at once.

Even Liu Feng and the other students who had come to watch Ye Qingchen make a fool of himself couldn’t help but gulp.

After a short while, the instructor announced, "All these Spirit Pills combined can be exchanged for 53,000 contribution points."

"What? How could that be so many?" Liu Feng exclaimed in disbelief. Did he really manage to gather enough contribution points just like that?
