Chapter 158: Lightning Fire Spike!
Chapter 158: Lightning Fire Spike!
Without bothering to explain its properties, Madam Violet spat a concentrated mist of spiritual energy onto the spike. The artifact immediately began pulsing with red light and started emitting intense waves of heat that rapidly spread throughout the entire hall.
The temperature climbed noticeably within seconds, becoming uncomfortable even for cultivators with protective techniques active.
As experienced as they were, both Marcus and Mr. Yun immediately recognized that this object was far from ordinary. They unconsciously took several steps away from the woman while observing her spike with newfound respect and caution.
Sean, standing near Vogue, revealed genuine shock upon experiencing the heat wave firsthand. He quickly raised a defensive barrier around himself, but even through the protection, he could feel scorching temperatures that would have been unbearable for a normal person.
Vogue himself felt the intense heat but didn’t bother activating any defenses. His dragon physique was naturally resistant to both extreme heat and cold—this level of temperature was merely uncomfortable rather than dangerous to him.
With a flash of white light accompanying the red glow, the spike suddenly began emitting crackling sounds. Small arcs of electricity started dancing across its surface.
Everyone’s eyes widened as they focused more intently on the artifact. They discovered that intertwined with the red flames, there were now faint pulses of white lightning flickering along the spike’s length.
This is a dual-attribute ancient treasure combining both lightning and fire elements! Vogue realized with genuine amazement. No wonder Madam Violet was confident enough to negotiate for priority selection. An artifact of this caliber is extraordinarily rare.
The other cultivators looked upon Madam Violet with varied emotions—respect, envy, greed, and calculation all visible in different faces.
The woman ignored the attention entirely and stared intently at the blue crystal wall before her with deep concentration. Her wrist suddenly shook with a precise gesture, and she thrust the Lightning Fire Spike directly toward the barrier.
Fiery light flourished brilliantly, and muffled explosive sounds rang out continuously. The spike began rotating above her head at increasing speeds, creating a blur of red and white energy.
Within moments, the rotation had accelerated to such incredible velocity that the spike became completely invisible—just a faint disc of blended red-white light spinning at impossible speeds.
The assembled cultivators all watched with genuine amazement and no small amount of nervousness.
Vogue was particularly alarmed by what he was witnessing. This is the first time I’ve seen such an extraordinarily swift ancient treasure. The rotational speed alone would make it nearly impossible to defend against—even Luminous Realm cultivators would struggle to block or dodge something moving this fast.
If I had to fight against such a weapon, Vogue calculated mentally, I would have essentially no conventional defense available. My only option would be to use Time Stop to freeze it mid-flight, or perhaps employ spatial evasion through Clone Jump. Even my dragon scales probably couldn’t withstand a direct hit from something spinning at that velocity with dual elemental energy.
After building up sufficient momentum, Madam Violet pointed decisively at the blur of light hovering above her and shouted with solemn authority:
"Go!"
Suddenly, red and white light flared with blinding intensity. The Lightning Fire Spike shot forward like a meteor and struck the blue crystal wall directly in front of the woman with devastating force.
"BOOM!!"
A massive explosion erupted on impact. Lightning and flames ruptured outward simultaneously, completely engulfing that section of the wall in a catastrophic display of elemental fury. The resulting light made the entire scene blindingly bright, forcing several cultivators to shield their eyes or look away.
Vogue’s pupils contracted sharply as he observed through the glare. Although he couldn’t see the spike itself anymore, he could clearly sense the spiritual energy fluctuations it was producing. The power output was genuinely formidable—easily capable of destroying any normal building or defensive formation.
However... Vogue thought with certainty, against a Saint-level protective barrier specifically designed to resist intrusion, this level of power isn’t going to be sufficient. I can already tell the attack has failed.
Before Vogue could finish formulating his complete analysis, the lightning and fire effects had already faded away, the energy dissipating harmlessly.
The Lightning Fire Spike was floating motionlessly in the air several inches away from the wall’s surface, gently bobbing up and down. But more importantly, when everyone looked at the blue crystal barrier itself, they discovered it appeared completely unscathed—not even a scratch or scorch mark remained from the devastating attack.
The wall was as pristine and flawless as if nothing had struck it at all.
Marcus couldn’t quite hide a trace of disappointment that flickered across his face, though he quickly masked it with a diplomatic smile. "While the destructive might of your artifact is quite impressive, Madam Violet, it seems to still lack the necessary strength to break through this particular barrier. Nevertheless, thank you for making the attempt. Are there any other Fellow Cultivators who wish to try their hand at breaching the formation?"
Madam Violet appeared deeply unsatisfied with this result. She snorted with frustration and declared stubbornly:
"When did I say that previous strike represented my treasure’s true maximum power? That was merely a probing attack to test the barrier’s properties and resistance. It seems that anything less than its complete stress output won’t suffice for penetrating this defense."
Marcus’s expression brightened considerably, hope rekindling in his eyes. "Oh! If you’re willing to continue the attempt with full power, Madam Violet, please don’t hesitate! We’re all quite interested to see what your artifact can truly accomplish when pushed to its limits."
The elderly woman didn’t waste time with further conversation. She immediately held her hands in a complex incantation gesture, fingers weaving intricate patterns in the air.
The floating Lightning Fire Spike obediently returned to hover directly above Madam Violet’s head in response to her summoning. Then, under the influence of her continuously forming hand seals, the spike began rotating in place once again.
This time, however, the rotation speed increased far more dramatically than before. The artifact spun faster and faster, gradually merging its lightning and blazing fire elements into a unified force rather than keeping them separate.
As it built momentum, it began emitting a strange, high-pitched humming sound that made everyone’s ears ring uncomfortably.
