Chapter 67: Threads of Divine Beast
Chapter 67: Threads of Divine Beast
[Your comprehension of *Pure Mana Weaving* has slightly increased!]
Kitsune’s eyes flickered for a moment as she realised what had just happened through their mental connection.
Then her smile widened.
"...Oh?"
Damon’s pupils dilated.
With his Absolute Comprehension active, he managed to catch a glimpse of how Kitsune manipulates mana to this extent.
But before he could get any serious understanding of it, she stopped.
"Do it again," he suddenly said.
Kitsune’s ruby eyes stared down at him for a moment. Then her finger brushed against his chest for only a second before she suddenly stopped and leaned closer toward him.
Damon frowned. "Why did you stop-"
"Can’t tell you all my secrets at once, can I?" she whispered into his ear.
Damon’s eyes narrowed slightly.
She was enjoying this, dragging things out and teasing him without restraint.
With the warmth of her body pressed against his, focusing would’ve been impossible if not for Absolute Comprehension still running in the background.
His gaze sharpened.
If she wasn’t going to let him observe her mana manipulation...
Then he’d simply turn his attention elsewhere.
Suddenly, Damon summoned an item from his inventory and no less than a second later, a golden chalice materialised in his hand.
Immediately, Kitsune’s eyes lit up, her grin widening.
"Here," he said, and without even a hint of hesitation, Kitsune snatched the relic from his hand and got up to her feet.
Although he wasn’t very keen on giving away any of his relics, this one in particular was a lot more useful to her than it was to him. Besides, if she regains more of her power, he will have a stronger ally in the future.
With his inventory still open, Damon turned his attention to the other relic he had received in his last rift.
[Relic]
[Name: Midnight Scale Armour]
[Type: Full Set Armour]
[Stats: +25 Vitality, +20% Damage reduction to Physical Attacks]
Damon’s breath caught for a moment as he read the stats. It was not only his first time seeing a percentage bonus, but it was also a stat he had not seen before, one able to decrease actual physical damage.
His heart hammered against his ribs as he jumped to his feet.
"Let’s see what this thing looks like," he thought as he summoned the armour.
In an instant, black scales formed around his body, while larger metal plates layered over his shoulders, arms, and legs. The armour was completely dark, covering him from neck all the way to his feet.
Immediately, Damon felt its weight, at least fifty pounds. Yet despite the heaviness and countless scales, it was surprisingly flexible. He moved a couple of times, testing his range of motion, only to be pleasantly surprised at how smoothly the armour shifted with him.
For a moment, his movements caught Kitsune’s attention as she spared him a glance before turning to her own treasure, the Chalice of Restoration.
"I might be out of it for a little while," Kitsune’s voice suddenly cut through Damon’s excitement as he continued to study his armour.
"What do you mean?" His gaze lifted to meet hers.
"If the restoration with the chalice is successful, it will be stronger than last time. The tails aren’t equal, so the higher the tail, the more mana there will be to refine." She paused for a moment as if searching for a good way to describe it before continuing. "You could think of it as a state of meditation. I’ll have to refine most of the mana before I’ll be able to move around."
Damon’s eyes widened slightly as she explained.
Although she was bedridden last time, she could still move around to some extent. This, however, sounded a lot more serious, especially considering the lack of teasing-
She suddenly moved toward him, her feet hitting the wooden flooring with soft thuds before she leaned toward him.
"Try not to miss me too much~"
Then, she fell dramatically onto the bed, only to lift herself up slightly and begin to pour mana into the chalice.
Instantly, it began to fill with golden liquid, and once it reached its fullness, the girl began to drink it.
With each sip, a heavy weight fell onto the entire room, the girl’s mana shifted violently, and small particulates of pale blue light began to dance around her.
At first, Damon simply watched her drink from the chalice, but as his focus tightened because of his still activated Absolute Comprehension, he suddenly became blinded by a flash of white light.
’What the hell is going on?!’ he cursed inwardly, grimacing at the stinging pain in his eyes. He tried to move his hand to block the light, only to realise his hand wasn’t there, nor were his eyes.
’Huh?’
The blinding white light began to slowly create shapes, and quickly he realised what they were.
Threads.
This was the exact same place where he watched his class evolve and tried to force his own evolution, but with one small difference.
It wasn’t his, it was hers.
And instead of there being thousands of threads, this looked more like millions, perhaps even billions.
[Your comprehension of *Restoration* has significantly increased!]
The complexity of her single tail went far beyond the threads of all his classes and abilities combined, it was simply otherworldly.
Even with Absolute Comprehension running at full speed, it was impossible to grasp what went into creating such things.
’I guess Divine Beast isn’t just a random title...’
Luckily, he didn’t have to comprehend the entirety of her tail to grasp an understanding of Restoration, only the threads that were being restored.
His focus narrowed in.
Restoration, in many ways, was a lot like Evolution, creating new threads to replace the old ones, with the only difference being that restoration simply re-created the broken threads while evolution expanded on them.
As Damon watched the broken threads being restored, his understanding of the process quickly began to increase.
[Your comprehension of *Restoration* has significantly increased!]
But just then, a sharp pain struck his abdomen, snapping him away from the threads and back to the present. Then an even sharper pain shot through his head, and his vision swayed.
’Shit!’ he began to curse as his entire body lost balance. ’Out... of mana.’
Damon’s world swayed once more before everything went dark.
Thud!
