Infernal Entity: Evolving With My Demonic System

Chapter 86: Energy mix

Chapter 86: Energy mix

"Die, you bloody animal!!" Nile screamed as she threw both arms forward.

Two sharp bolts of lightning tore through the air and slammed straight into the Skavvern’s chest. The electricity pierced its skin, burning dark lines into it, but the creature barely staggered.

It laughed. Then it moved.

The Skavvern lunged at Nile in a blur, closing the distance between them almost instantly. Its tail whipped around again and again, slicing through the space where her head had been moments before.

Nile gritted her teeth and kept moving. She ducked. She twisted. She rolled away, making sure to avoid every strike.

Each tail strike came fast and heavy, slamming into stone and cracking it apart when it missed her. Her heart pounded as she barely stayed ahead of it.

If this thing had two tails, she knew she would already be dead.

She slipped low, rolling between the Skavvern’s legs just as the tail cracked down behind her. The ground exploded where it hit.

Nile didn’t stop. She grabbed both of its heels with her hands and held on.

Electricity surged through her body as she forced her power outward. Bright arcs of lightning wrapped around the Skavvern’s legs and shot up its body.

The Skavvern roared in pain

Its muscles locked up as the current tore through it. Its body vibrated violently, claws digging into the cave floor as it fought against the electrocution.

But still, it didn’t fall. With a violent jerk, the Skavvern broke free, twisted its body and kicked backward with both legs.

The blow caught Nile square in the chest, sending her flying across the cave and slammed into the wall, hitting hard before dropping to the ground.

"Ahh!" She winced.

The Skavvern took a step, then another. It winced slightly as smoke rose from its skin.

Then it smiled.

"Moreeee!" it growled, spreading its arms.

"There’s a saying you humans have, right? Whatever doesn’t kill you only makes you stronger."

It rolled its shoulders and cracked its neck, power rolling off its body.

"Your attacks are only fueling me! I need more of the good stuff."

It turned toward Nile, raising its clawed hand to finish her.

But Nile wasn’t on the floor anymore. She was standing and beside her Axel stepped forward with Godrend in his hand, bits of infernal energy rolled off him in waves.

Kinsey moved beside him, ice forming around her hands despite the fear in her eyes.

Ares stood at the front, calm and steady. Two different energies moved through him at once. Blue ice crept along one arm. Sparks of electricity moved along the other.

He had absorbed both Kinsey’s ice and Nile’s lightning.

Seeing all these different energies before it, one would think the Skavvern would cower in fear, but it did the opposite. Excitement was written over its scarred face.

It was a known fact that the Skavvern’s were suckers for pain. For some reason, pain motivated them. The more pain they went through, the better they were at fighting. Some people even made a claim that the Skavverns absorbed energies and stored them. Those energies helped them evolve and grow another tail. Once again, this claim backed up the question, where did abilities originate from?

"You guys look cute," The Skavvern said, laughing at the four of them.

"Yeah?" Axel shot back, stepping forward. "You’d know what cute looks like because you can’t relate to that, you ugly fuck!"

He launched himself forward without waiting for the others

Inside his head, Aurora’s voice cut through the chaos, sharp and urgent.

"That tail is the problem. Get rid of the tail. Without it, the Skavvern will be vulnerable... Also, you shouldn’t call someone ugly. That’s low, even for a demon..."

Axel’s grip tightened on the sword as he charged, eyes locked on the whipping tail behind the monster.

This time, he wasn’t aiming for its body. He was aiming to take something away.

The plan was simple. "Cut the tail."

Axel was the only one with a blade, so the job fell on him.

He kept his eyes moving, never locking onto one thing for too long. His eyes moved from the Skavvern’s body, its claws. Most of all, the tail. He wasn’t going to repeat the mistake that took 10 of his HP before.

The Skavvern hissed and swung its tail again. This time, Axel dropped low just as it swept over his head, the wind from it still strong enough to sting his face. At the same time, Kinsey raised her hands and fired sharp ice spikes at the Skavvern’s chest.

The creature snarled and turned slightly toward her. That was all the opening Nile needed.

Electricity exploded outward from her body, spreading across the ground like a glowing web. The air crackled as the field wrapped around the Skavvern’s legs, slowing its movement and locking it in place.

Axel felt the heat and static crawl over his skin.

"Great! Now you’ve got three jobs now. Avoid the tail. Avoid the Skavvern. And don’t get cooked by Nile!"

"Damn!" Axel grit his teeth and kept moving.

He stepped, twisted, rolled. The tail lashed again, slamming into the ground where he had been a second earlier.

The Godrend was only at an advanced level. Kinsey’s upgrade had helped, but it still wasn’t enough on its own to cut the Skavvern’s tail.

"Infuse everything you have. Infernal energy mixer with the Energy Burst, Fire Infusion and Ruin Echo... All at once.

Axel’s heart slammed against his chest.

"That much power—"

"Do it!" Aurora snapped. "With all three together, the ugly fuck is fucked!"

***

The Skavvern roared and raised its tail high. It came down like a hammer.

Axel kicked off the ground.

The floor cracked under his boots as he launched himself upward. His body was stronger than it had ever been. Being a demon had changed him. Strength flooded his limbs as he rose into the air.

More Infernal energy poured into Godrend, the blade glowed. Hellrand Slash surged within the sword, waiting to be released but Axel held it back

Then came the Energy Burst. Blue light wrapped around the blade. Then fire. Then the Ruin Echo.

All four energies from different cores, infused into one blade strike.

The sword trembled violently, layers of power stacking on top of each other until the air around it warped.

When the tail met Axel mid air. He swung the sword as hard as he could.

Axel couldn’t place the sound of the blade slicing through the tail because the explosion that came on impact was deafening.

Fire, light, and infernal energy tore through the cave in a massive shockwave. Stone shattered. The ground buckled. The force blasted outward in every direction.

Kinsey reacted instantly. She slammed her hands down and raised a thick wall of ice, shielding Rick, Jayden, and Kora. Their bodies lay still behind it, Rick was unconscious, the others were still unmoving. No one knew if they were alive.

The blast washed over the cave, then faded.

When the dust finally settled, something heavy lay on the ground.

A large blue tail.

The Skavvern stood frozen, staring down at the place where its tail had been as horror slowly spread across its face.
