Chapter 505 - 503: Where Did Lu Jinyang Go
Immediately following, a voice carried over, neither loud nor soft, audible from where Xiao Qing and the others were standing.
"Look, that’s Actress Xiao."
"Tsk tsk, look at that figure, she’s smokin’ hot~"
"For real, that man’s luck with the ladies isn’t shallow. Having caught Actress Xiao’s eye, he’s in for a treat tonight."
"....."
As the indecent remarks reached his ears, Leng Yixing exuded a chill all over. He turned and walked toward the source of the voices.
"Leng, don’t go over. If you do, they’ll make something out of nothing," Xiao Qing immediately called out to stop him. Seeing him pause, she lowered her voice and said, "I’ll head in first, you follow a little later and go straight to your seat when you get inside."
Forehead creased into a "川" character, Leng Yixing said, "I’m an outsider to these circles; it won’t affect me much."
"But you are still known as one of Lu Jinyang’s people. Don’t be impulsive, it’s just idle chatter; they won’t get any real advantage from it."
Reassured by Xiao Qing’s words, Leng Yixing’s emotions finally eased, though his expression remained grim.
Xiao Qing passed by him, nonchalantly heading toward the hall. As she passed the entrance, she glanced to the side reflexively and caught sight of two men with cameras ogling her blatantly.
She suppressed the disgust within her heart and kept walking. But she hadn’t gone far when she came face to face with Lu Xiao, a heavily made-up woman striding by his side, wearing a bright red dress – likely the bride.
"Xiao Qing, I thought you weren’t going to show up," Lu Xiao smiled.
"Oh, I just saw a friend and stopped to chat a bit."
"A friend?" Lu Xiao’s gaze shifted subtly. Wasn’t she suffering from memory loss? How could she have friends?
If he wasn’t mistaken, her closest friend should only be Qin Huaixin.
Xiao Qing nodded, "Yes. Congratulations on your wedding!"
Lu Xiao gazed at her searchingly, his thoughts unreadable.
At that moment, the bride beside him nodded toward her, "Thank you~" and then turned to Lu Xiao, "Honey, aren’t you going to introduce me to her?"
Only then did Lu Xiao turn back from his scrutiny, exchanged a loving glance with the bride, "Xiao Qing, a friend."
A friend?
Xiao Qing’s doubts grew because he knew very well about her relation with Lu Jinyang, yet he did not disclose that connection, leaving her to wonder what he was up to.
However, no matter what he intended, the fact he didn’t reveal her connection with Lu Jinyang was a relief.
Xiao Qing reached out her hand, "Nice to meet you, I’m Xiao Qing. You look beautiful."
The bride smiled pleasantly and took Xiao Qing’s hand, "I’m Leng Wanxi. You also look gorgeous. But, have I seen you somewhere before?"
Xiao Qing was about to answer when Lu Xiao interjected, "It’s getting late, time to change dresses."
"Then I won’t disturb you two further," she said.
After speaking, Xiao Qing walked toward her seat.
From a distance, she noticed that Si Nanchen was no longer at his previous spot, which made her sigh with relief. Yet, what puzzled her was the whereabouts of Lu Jinyang. It was already this time, and she still hadn’t seen him.
Not long after she sat down, she saw Leng Yixing return. His face looked even more displeasing than it had on the lawn.
Thinking he was upset because of an encounter with the two journalists outside, she did not dwell on it further.
Xiao Qing idly flipped through her phone, not very familiar with the people at her table. Occasionally someone would greet her, and she would respond, but the conversations didn’t go further.
Before too long, the host appeared on the stage, spouting words Xiao Qing couldn’t grasp. She glanced over at Leng Yixing, still not seeing Lu Jinyang.
But Leng Yixing had just told her that Lu Jinyang would be sitting with him~
