Gu Li was infuriated by his attitude, as he had clearly made presumptuous accusations without investigating the truth. How could he question her so self-righteously?

Thus, she raised her hand and forcefully slapped away the hand on her chin. With Gu Chen looking on in astonishment, she roared, "Gu Chen, you’re a damned jerk! That gentle and gentlemanly facade of yours is all an act! What gives you the right to expect me to listen to everything you say? What right do you have to wrong me like this without knowing the truth?!"

Caught off guard, Gu Chen’s hand was knocked away. Staring at her in disbelief for quite some time, he finally regained his voice, "You’re finally losing your temper."

She reached for the car door, only to find it locked, making it impossible to open, and then tried to roll down the windows, which turned out to be locked as well.

After realizing these issues, Gu Li was clear that if she wanted to leave the car, she’d need this man’s permission. Not wanting to ask him, she simply crossed her arms in front of her, leaned back in the seat, and feigned sleep!

Gu Chen’s lips were pressed tightly into a straight line.

This was the first time Gu Li had lost her temper at him, the first time she had spoken her true feelings from the bottom of her heart.

He knew she didn’t normally lose her temper at him not because she had none, but because whenever he saw Gu Li express a range of emotions towards others, he would inexplicably feel unhappy and secretly want to provoke her anger.

However, now that she had finally vented her anger on him, he couldn’t feel happy about it at all.

The inside of the car was as silent as the grave.

After what felt like an eternity, Gu Chen’s voice broke the silence, "Speak properly."

His words sparked her anger once again.

She opened her eyes wide and glared at him, "Gu Chen, Uncle~ Can you please stop following me? I just want to find a quiet place to think things through and then I’ll come back. But you keep chasing after me; I can’t have a moment of peace."

Gu Chen: "... Move back~ If you move back I won’t bother you again."

Gu Li found that talking to Gu Chen wasn’t the hardest part; getting him to understand her was the real challenge.

She took a deep breath and said, "I slept in the guest room last night, your family’s guest room."

At that, Gu Chen tensed up all over. What had she just said?

But Gu Li did not elaborate further: "Let me out of the car. There’s a supermarket right there, I’m going to buy some groceries and cook at home."

Gu Chen did not know when he had allowed her to leave the car; he only knew that immense joy was rampaging through his heart, so overpowering that he almost lost himself in it.

He thought, as long as she came back, he would make sure she never left again.

She reached out for his abs again but before she could withdraw her hand, it was caught by a large hand.

Looking up, she met his gaze as he looked down at her with eyes full of dissatisfaction, "Stop fidgeting, or I can’t promise I won’t do something beastly."

Seeing his dead-serious expression, as if he were preparing to do something naughty, Xiao Qing pouted, "It’s no fun. Staying at home every day is worse than doing postnatal confinement." Besides, it was only a minor surgery she went through; she felt that he was making too much of it.

"Yeah, it’s indeed no fun at night." Lu Jinyang changed the subject abruptly, "Get well soon, then you can have fun however you want."

Xiao Qing’s eyes lit up, "Really?"
