Chapter 479 - 477 Anesthetics

Two hours had passed.

Lu Jinyang’s eyes were wide open, not blinking as he watched over the person on the bed, looking for the slightest change.

Even though her anesthesia had worn off, there was not a single sign of her waking up. If she weren’t still breathing, Lu Jinyang would have definitely reached out to check for her breath.

Another half hour went by, and Li Yan came over with the nurse, his brows deeply furrowed at the sight.

"She hasn’t woken up?"

Lu Jinyang: "Mm."

"Any movement?"

"None."

Li Yan’s brows were furrowed like an old man’s. After inspecting for a while, he discovered the anesthetic in Xiao Qing’s body hadn’t dissipated and immediately said to the nurse, "Go call the anesthetist over."

Based on the dosage, the patient should have woken up by now. But the fact that Xiao Qing’s body still had anesthesia in it was unscientific.

The nurse quickly brought the anesthetist over, who upon examining the situation, was immediately scared out of his wits.

He didn’t hide it from Li Yan: "Dean Li, this patient still has residual anesthetic in her body, but the dose of anesthetic given to each patient is the same. The only possibility for this patient’s condition is that she was injected with anesthetic before entering the operating room."

The ward was dead silent.

Xiao Qing had been with Lu Jinyang all the time before she fell unconscious, and afterwards Li Yan was there too, then they went to the hospital, into the operating room, all along those two men stayed close by her side, there was simply no chance for anyone to make a move.

So, Li Yan suspected that Lin Xiaoxiao did something in the room.

But upon closer thought, it didn’t seem right.

The surveillance showed Lin Xiaoxiao had only touched Xiao Qing’s stomach with that punch, and with the quilt in between, it was impossible for her to have done something then. The knife in her hand, Li Yan had seen it at the Lu Family’s house, it was a mini fruit knife from the kitchen, unlikely that Lin Xiaoxiao prepared it in advance. If she had been prepared, she would have readied the knife as well.

For a moment, the truth of the matter became even more elusive.

Li Yan looked towards Lu Jinyang, just as Lu Jinyang also turned to look, their eyes met briefly before quickly shifting away.

He said to the anesthetist and the nurse, "There’s nothing more for you here, go on with your duties."

As soon as they left, Li Yan couldn’t wait to ask Lu Jinyang, "Think carefully, before your sister-in-law fainted, did anything happen to her?"

Lu Jinyang glanced over coldly, "You know everything I do."

Li Yan was troubled, unable to figure it out.

The anesthetist wouldn’t make such a low-level mistake, and what he knew was the same as Lu Jinyang, which was Lin Xiaoxiao hitting Xiao Qing’s stomach...

Something flashed through his mind, so fast that Li Yan couldn’t catch it. He scratched his head in irritation, "You continue to stay here, there isn’t much anesthetic left, she should wake up in at most another hour."

After speaking, he left the ward without looking back.

Back in his office, Li Yan shook his head, took off his lab coat, sat down and pulled the tray on the desk in front of him to take a closer look.

Inside the tray were the Contraceptive Rings that had just been taken out of Xiao Qing’s stomach. He was curious as to who was so skillful to have placed five, and each at different positions.

He put on rubber gloves and examined each one carefully, just as he picked up the fourth Contraceptive Ring, he suddenly stopped, brought it close to his nose to smell, and immediately, his entire demeanor changed.

Li Yan immediately took the tray and ran out of the office to find the anesthetist they had just met with, and after the two verified together, they came to a conclusion: The anesthetic was carried on the Contraceptive Rings themselves!
