Chapter 251 251: Peaceful Mode

Chapter 251 251: Peaceful Mode

The Minecraft "Peaceful Mode" is a game difficulty setting. Under this mode, hostile mobs cease to spawn, and the hostility of all existing mobs disappears.

The single drawback is that it directly removes any hostile mobs that already exist in the world.

For example, the hostility of neutral mobs like wolves would simply be canceled, but undead mobs like Piglins would be outright deleted.

Therefore, once Peaceful Mode was activated, there was a possibility that half the living beings in the Warhammer universe would be classified as hostile mobs and evaporate into thin air.

Zeke felt this possibility was relatively low. The categorization of "hostile mob" was inherently ambiguous to begin with. Judging from the minimap mod, only creatures that harbored malicious intent toward him were marked red as hostile mobs.

This meant that if there were creatures who hadn't seen Zeke, or who changed their minds and chose to be friendly toward him, they could shift from hostile to friendly or neutral mobs, and thus wouldn't be purged by Peaceful Mode.

This was exactly what Zeke most wished to see: a genuinely peaceful Warhammer universe.

Zeke chose to try it. Even if it failed, he still had ways to salvage the situation.

Having thought it through, Zeke decisively chose to execute the command.

[Game mode has been updated to Peaceful]

The very rules of the entire universe were pried open.

As the God of War, Khorne was the very first to sense this terrifying change. A look of sheer astonishment crossed His face.

Within His War Domain, the ceaseless roars and the clashing of blades were uniformly vanishing.

Whether it was the Bloodletters or the Skullcrushers, they all simultaneously lowered their weapons. The very concept of hostility was being stripped from their existence.

With their hostility gone, this horde of daemons, who knew nothing but combat, stood frozen in place, looking around blankly, completely at a loss for what to do.

"It looks like I succeeded." Zeke let out a breath of relief. The fact that Peaceful Mode was implemented by erasing hostility rather than erasing the entities themselves is absolutely fantastic.

"What have you done?!" Khorne's voice rumbled from deep within His chest.

In a fit of rage, He suddenly discovered that He could no longer actually be angry.

The raging flames of fury that always burned fiercely within Him were extinguishing little by little from the bottom of His heart. He could not muster a single shred of hostility or anger toward Zeke; only a vast emptiness remained.

Khorne's gaze bypassed Zeke, casting out into the mortal realm and the Warp, looking toward every place where war existed.

Relying on the few remaining authorities of war He possessed, He could see that war was steadily disappearing from this world.

On a forgotten, desolate world at the edge of the galaxy, the Greenskin Orks—born purely for battle—ceased their WAAAGH!

Amidst the Great Crusade, the Space Marines locked in fierce combat with the Rangdan xenos uniformly lowered the muzzles of their bolters on the front lines. Both sides laid down their weapons simultaneously, staring at each other with eyes full of confusion.

In the underhive of Hades Hive, a Genestealer attempting to infect an underhiver suddenly halted its ovipositor and quietly let the human go.

Even more bizarrely, on a Plague Planet occupied by Nurgle, a human who was actively being infected by plague zombies stopped transforming halfway through the process.

He ultimately stabilized as a creature that was half-human and half-zombie.

Khorne realized that within this human's body, the battle between the zombie virus and the immune cells had ended.

The two had somehow reached a ceasefire in the most incomprehensible manner, coexisting peacefully within a single body.

The world was being reshaped by a pair of invisible hands.

Zeke leaned in, inspecting Khorne's face. He confirmed his eyes weren't playing tricks on him: Khorne's ferocious, canine-like face was genuinely taking on a kind and benevolent look.

Khorne was not only the God of War but also the God of Courage and Honor. When Peaceful Mode stripped away negative aspects like combat and anger, the only emotions left composing Khorne were positive ones, like honor and courage.

"Look at that. Once you stop losing your temper, your whole face changes," Zeke marveled. Khorne is about to completely turn into the God of Courage.

Khorne could, of course, sense the fundamental changes occurring within Himself, but He was utterly powerless.

He could not take any action. His capacity for thought was being corrected and rewritten. He even began to feel that this change might not necessarily be a bad thing.

Ultimately, Khorne gave up. He fell to His knees, unable to support Himself any longer. His massive torso slumped forward, collapsing like a crumbling mountain, as He lay there, staring blankly at the sky.

"What exactly have you done...?" Khorne couldn't fathom what a world without battle would look like in the future. How empty and lonely it would be.

Zeke remained silent. He felt he ought to offer some comfort to this god who had dared to face him.

Khorne's collapsed frame was still colossal. When Zeke crouched beside Him, his line of sight was exactly level with Khorne's eyes.

"Actually, that battle just now was quite thrilling, right? It serves as a fitting final battle to cap everything off," Zeke looked at Khorne, beginning his attempt at consolation.

"Hmph!" A bleak smile briefly crossed Khorne's face.

Silence stretched between the two for a while before Khorne finally spoke.

"In the battle just now... you didn't use your full strength at all, did you?"

"Hm?" Zeke blinked. Before he even had the chance to reply, a roar utilizing every last ounce of strength Khorne could muster erupted from the giant form slumped on the ground.

"Possessing this kind of power—the power to completely erase war from the world... you clearly could have killed me instantly from the very beginning! But you didn't! So tell me..."

Khorne's hands slowly clenched into fists at His sides.

"Your fight just now... you were just toying with me the entire time, weren't you?!"

"This is absolutely not the battle I wanted."

Khorne's voice cracked on the final few words.

The facts laid it bare before Him: this human had never actually taken Him seriously.

Unable to bear this truth, His pride was deeply wounded.

Hearing this, Zeke felt a complex mix of emotions. I really did take the fight with Khorne seriously just now. It was just that, initially, he hadn't thought of the ultimate trump card that was Peaceful Mode. It was only because of Khorne's own words that Zeke was reminded of this method.

At the very borders of the War Domain, several majestic auras surged forward.

Both Zeke and Khorne sensed them.

"Those three have arrived." Khorne did His best to conceal His wretched state, preventing His three colleagues from mocking Him.

Using the minimap, Zeke identified the arrivals. It was exactly the other three Warp Gods, alongside the Emperor.

It seemed his little disruption had made some people unable to sit still, prompting them to pay a personal visit.

That's fine too. Saves me the trouble of seeking them out one by one.
