Chapter 245: The Unique Charm of Old-School Mods: Unbalanced as Hell

Chapter 245: The Unique Charm of Old-School Mods: Unbalanced as Hell

What’s the first thing you do when you activate Creative Mode?

Of course, it’s time to process an insurance claim against the creator of the universe.

Zeke opened his inventory, which had now transformed into the Creative Mode inventory interface. It contained every item obtainable in Survival Mode, as well as items completely unobtainable through normal means, such as Bedrock.

Because the number of unlocked mods was overwhelmingly massive, the Creative inventory felt somewhat crowded. Utilizing the search function of the JEI (Just Enough Items) mod, Zeke swiftly and efficiently armed himself to the teeth.

First, a Sword of the Cosmos.

The ultimate melee weapon from the Avaritia mod. The blade looked like a solidified galaxy, flowing with the deep blue luster of the stars. Just its name and appearance alone radiated absolute dominance.

This sword possessed 9,999 durability points—which, under most circumstances, made it practically indestructible. A single strike was enough to instantly kill the vast majority of entities.

However, crafting it was incredibly troublesome. It required over 500,000 diamonds, along with countless other rare materials. A player who could grind this out purely in Survival Mode could only be hailed as the emperor of all grinders; it was a choice between keeping your life or staying in the mineshaft.

Next, a World Breaker pickaxe.

Its mining speed was heaven-defying; almost all blocks were like wet paper before it. It even supported Area of Effect (AoE) mining. With just a few swings, an entire mountain could be leveled to the ground.

And finally, a full set of Infinity Armor.

When fully equipped, it provided a staggering 1,000 armor points. Of course, that number was mostly just for show. The true terror of this armor lay in its underlying mechanics:

When wearing the complete set, it directly absorbed the vast majority of incoming damage. From the /kill command, to being swallowed by the Void, to all sorts of negative status effects—everything was outright rejected and nullified.

It possessed both absurd stats and broken mechanics. Many old-school mods were exactly like this: throwing in ingredients with complete disregard for balance, mainly focusing on filling in stats with their feet.

There were many other useful mods in the list. Basically, for any seemingly unsolvable problem you might face, one of the mods would provide an answer.

Zeke stopped there and didn’t delve deeper into the catalog. He would call upon them when he encountered specific problems. Right now, he didn’t have much time to waste.

Zeke pulled out a new Reaper’s Scythe and attempted to slice open a spacetime rift.

Behind the rift was a new timeline. Zeke took a cursory glance and realized it was clearly not his original main timeline.

This is a bit troublesome, Zeke rubbed his head. He didn’t really have a good way to immediately lock onto his own main timeline among countless others.

But just because I don’t have a way doesn’t mean others don’t. I’ll just ask the Emperor of this timeline. If that doesn’t work, I’ll directly threaten the four gods and force them to figure out a way to send me back. Otherwise, I’ll send them to their graves.

Zeke launched into the air and flew away from the desert.

After flying for just a few seconds, he found the Creative Mode flight speed far too sluggish. He decisively canceled it and pulled up his world map.

Waypoint teleportation from the minimap mod was unlocked. This allowed players to mark locations on the map and teleport directly to them, which was infinitely faster than flying.

With a series of teleports, Zeke’s figure vanished from the desert planet, appearing suspended in the void of space the next moment, and then hurtling forward at blinding speeds in the next.

He was pushing as fast as he could toward humanity’s homeworld: Terra in this timeline.

On the command deck of the Emperor-class Battleship Might of the Faithful, there was an 800-foot-wide observation window. However, the surging, rolling tides of the Warp currently occupied almost the entire field of view.

Admiral Quarren spoke in a low voice, "Just how many of them are there?"

This was, by far, the largest surge of the Eye of Terror Quarren had ever witnessed.

Quarren and his vigilance fleet were part of the Cadian Navy stationed near the Eye of Terror, their sole purpose being to guard against whatever Warp daemons might spew forth from it.

And today, the Eye of Terror was growing restless once again.

Quarren remembered when he had first taken this post; whenever the Eye of Terror began to tremble, his heart would plummet in his chest.

But now, that fear had long been worn down by the protracted standoff, transforming into a sea of despairing numbness.

Outside the observation window, a shocking belt of asteroids floated around the edge of the Eye of Terror.

Looking closer, they were actually skeletal remains of steel—the countless Imperial warships that had once sailed the sea of stars, silently bearing witness to everything the Eye of Terror had devoured.

They were densely packed, stretching as far as the eye could see.

Perhaps one day, the Might of the Faithful would also become part of this debris field.

Admiral Quarren slowly closed his eyes and let out a soft sigh.

"Warning! Unidentified Flying Object approaching at high speed!" The alarms on the auspex console blared. The duty officer’s voice carried an unconcealable tremble. "That’s... that’s..."

"What is it?" Quarren strode over to the console, leaning in to glare at the screen.

"It’s... it’s a person."

After speaking, the auspex operator froze for a moment himself, then looked back down at the screen before raising his head to repeat:

"It is indeed a person."

He wasn’t wrong. In the center of the screen, Zeke was constantly vanishing and reappearing, teleporting forward.

Because the world map took a little time to update, Zeke couldn’t teleport to his final destination in one go; he had to teleport forward in segments.

"The Eye of Terror. I’ve arrived near Cadia?"

The Eye of Terror here hadn’t expanded, meaning the timeline Zeke was currently in was set before the Fall of Cadia.

Zeke slightly reduced his speed, his gaze falling upon that massive entity, pulsing and swelling like a festering wound.

This Warp rift, torn open since the birth of Slaanesh, had been constantly corrupting its surroundings. The putrid power of the Warp continually seeped outward, tainting the area and causing every child born on Cadia to possess deep purple eyes.

This was something Lord Castellan Creed from the main timeline had told Zeke.

Zeke recalled that shortly after he first crossed over, he had made a pact with Lord Castellan Creed—a promise to eradicate the Eye of Terror.

However, due to his busy schedule and lack of strength at the time, the matter had been left unresolved.

But I, Zeke, never break a promise!

Zeke halted his advance and positioned himself directly in front of the Eye of Terror. "I’ve found you an eyesore for a long time."

It’s on the way, regardless.

Zeke searched for an item in the JEI search bar and held it in his hand.

It had a round glass shell and a base. The spherical belly was filled with clear liquid and countless tiny white snowflakes. With a gentle shake, the snow would flutter gracefully inside the globe, resembling a winter landscape.

It was a Snow Globe—a glass sphere with a base containing a miniature diorama, typically used as an ornament.

He raised the globe, holding it half-shading the Eye of Terror in the distance, aligning the Eye with the icy landscape inside the globe, and began to carefully observe it.

Through the glass of the Snow Globe, Zeke saw a daemon fleet surging out from the Eye of Terror. The ships were the size of battleships but were covered in tumors, horns, and staring eyes.

The daemon fleet turned its gun batteries toward the Imperial fleet and unleashed a fierce volley.

Hundreds of macro-cannon shells tore through the void, several of them striking Zeke directly.

In Creative Mode, Zeke was completely incapable of taking damage. The Infinity Armor he wore was simply an extra precaution against Void damage.

Zeke continued adjusting the position of the Snow Globe until he had perfectly encapsulated the entire Eye of Terror within it.

"Activate," Zeke muttered softly.

The Snow Globe in his hand began to vibrate.
