Chapter 118: Cuckold Dad (11)
Chapter 118: Cuckold Dad (11)
After being abandoned by her son, Zhong Jin was fuming with anger. She couldn’t understand—was this child mentally deficient? His biological father had both power and status. If he didn’t try to flatter and win him over, fine—but why was he still daydreaming about Qi Sheng, that adoptive father of his? Even if Qi Sheng had a bit of money, how could he compare to the Kang family?
To someone who only cared about greed and vanity, watching another person give up wealth for the sake of emotion only made them seem like a fool. Thinking of how Qi Yuancheng still hadn’t come to his senses, Zhong Jin decided it was time for stronger measures. “You still want to be taken back by Qi Sheng?” she thought. “Then I’ll cut off your path entirely!”
At that moment, Zhong Jin was determined to make her eldest son completely give up on Qi Sheng. She didn’t care about anything else anymore. She went to a struggling telecom shop and bought an anonymous SIM card. After checking into a nearby hotel, she sat on the bed and began sending text messages to Qi Sheng.
That night, while the father and son were having takeout for dinner with no appetite to cook, the phone placed between them suddenly vibrated.
Qi Yuanzhe was sitting right next to Qi Sheng and caught sight of the phone screen before Qi Sheng did. The content of the message flashed quickly, but a few terrifying words jumped out at him. He instinctively tried to grab the phone, but unfortunately, Qi Sheng had also caught a glimpse of it while picking up food. At this point, pretending not to have seen anything would only make things more suspicious.
Qi Sheng’s expression darkened. He turned to Yuanzhe and said coldly, “Take your hand off.”
Qi Yuanzhe burst into tears instantly. He looked at Qi Sheng with pleading eyes. “Dad, someone must be trying to stir up trouble. Please don’t believe it, okay?”
Qi Sheng wanted to agree with his son, but reality didn’t allow it. He gently but firmly removed the boy’s hand and picked up the phone to read the message.
Before he could finish reading it, Qi Yuanzhe threw himself over, hugging Qi Sheng around the waist and trying to snatch the phone. Crying, he sobbed, “Dad, please, don’t read it, okay? Daddy… woo…”
Qi Sheng glanced at him but still focused on reading the message. Its contents were explosive: “Qi Yuanzhe has no blood relation to you. He’s also the child Zhong Jin had with another man. If you don’t believe it, go get a paternity test! Also, Qi Yuancheng and Qi Yuanzhe have long known they aren’t your biological children. They hid the truth from you on purpose just so you’d keep raising them like a fool!” The message didn’t just reveal Yuanzhe’s real parentage—it ended by driving a wedge between the three of them, trying to ruin the bond between father and sons.
Yuanzhe had also seen the message. He was now crying so hard it sounded like he was tearing his heart out. Seeing Qi Sheng’s grim expression and silence, he wanted to explain but didn’t know how. In the end, he could only sob, “Dad… sob… it’s not like what the message says… sob… we didn’t mean to hide it from you…”
That made it worse. By saying that, he had admitted that the message was at least partly true. Realizing what he’d just said, Yuanzhe became even more terrified. “Dad… sob… no… that’s not… that’s not…”
He had no idea what else to say, so he just clung to his father’s waist and refused to let go.
Qi Sheng felt a bit suffocated from the tight grip. He wanted to pry the child off but didn’t want Yuanzhe to think he was being abandoned, which only made the boy cling to him harder.
Qi Sheng had just finished eating. If not for the overly tragic atmosphere, he might have protested, “You’re squeezing me so hard I’m about to puke!”
The child was crying so hard he couldn’t breathe. Qi Sheng’s heart ached for him. The boy was still young—letting Qi Yuancheng go was one thing, but if he kicked Yuanzhe out too, both children would be left homeless. How could he not worry?
Qi Sheng simply couldn’t harden his heart against the child. He suppressed his emotions and gently comforted Yuanzhe, “Be good. Go back to your room for now. I have something to deal with.”
Yuanzhe didn’t want to go, but Qi Sheng’s tone was firm. Not daring to throw a tantrum, he returned to his room while crying, looking back every few steps.
Once he was gone, Qi Sheng tried calling the sender of the message. After waiting for a long time, no one picked up. He wasn’t surprised. Then, he called Zhong Jin.
At that moment, lying on the hotel bed, Zhong Jin sent the message and immediately removed the SIM card. She maliciously thought, “This time, Qi Sheng will surely be furious. It’s best if he becomes even harsher on the two kids, so that Qi Yuancheng can quickly realize the reality.”
When Qi Sheng’s call came in, she initially thought he was going to question her about Qi Yuanzhe’s background. However, as soon as she picked up, she heard the voice on the other end say, “Was that message you sent just now? Are you in such a hurry to sever ties with me and the two kids? Zhong Jin, do you really think I can’t see through your intentions?”
Zhong Jin was caught off guard that Qi Sheng had figured it out so quickly. She stubbornly denied, “Qi Sheng, are you out of your mind? What message? What intentions?”
Qi Sheng laughed, “Zhong Jin, your plan is quite elaborate, but remember, we’ll meet at the Civil Affairs Bureau at 9 AM tomorrow.” After saying that, he hung up.
Qi Sheng had initially planned to cut off Zhong Jin’s financial resources, but he didn’t expect this woman to be so crazy. In order to change her eldest son’s attitude and bring him back to the Kang family, she was now completely reckless. She hadn’t considered the possibility that the Kang family would be out of reach and the Qi family wouldn’t take them back. What would happen to the two kids then?
The Kang family, such a large clan, with Xu Ruhuan’s family keeping an eye on things—if even Kang Hongxian was willing, it would still be extremely difficult for Qi Yuancheng to become the heir. This woman wasn’t thinking about Qi Yuancheng’s future at all; she was just obsessed with entering high society!
While Qi Sheng was sitting in the living room, thinking about how to handle Zhong Jin, Qi Yuanzhe, after returning to his room, couldn’t resist calling Qi Yuancheng.
At that moment, Qi Yuancheng was still lying on the hotel bed in a daze, wondering what to do next, how to slowly get his dad to accept him. He hadn’t come up with a good plan yet, but when he received his younger brother’s call, he thought Yuanzhe was calling to comfort him. He smiled, but as soon as he heard the voice on the other end, his expression immediately changed to concern.
“Xiaoze, what happened? Are you okay?!”
Yuanzhe, still crying heavily, couldn’t answer right away. His silence alarmed Qi Yuancheng, who was frantic. Just moments ago, everything had seemed fine, so why was his brother crying so hard now?
Could it be?… Did Dad just find out about Xiaoze’s background?
Thinking this, Qi Yuancheng immediately jumped out of bed, quickly packed a few things, and rushed downstairs, heading toward the Qi family home.
As he ran, he tried to comfort his brother on the phone, “Don’t cry, I’m coming right now.”
Yuanzhe, with a crying tone, responded, but he didn’t hang up. He wanted to go out and find his dad but didn’t dare. Instead, he cried miserably on the bed.
He listened carefully as he heard his dad talking on the phone, holding his breath and straining to listen. When he heard the name “Zhong Jin,” he froze in shock. Why was his mother doing this to him?!
Yuanzhe was so stunned that he forgot to cry. He stayed in his room, waiting for his brother to come. When he saw that his dad was still sitting in the living room and hadn’t responded, he became even more anxious. Was Dad about to kick him out too?
His worries continued until Qi Yuancheng finally arrived home. At that point, his emotions broke free. He no longer feared his dad. He rushed out and threw himself into Qi Yuancheng’s arms, crying all over again. Qi Sheng, seeing this, felt both heartbroken and a little amused.
Looking at his eldest son’s worried face, Qi Sheng said, “Put your backpack back in your room. You’re staying tonight.”
Both kids froze, staring at him in disbelief.
Qi Sheng deliberately put on a stern face. “What, you don’t want to?”
Qi Yuancheng immediately nodded, eager to please. Afraid that Qi Sheng would change his mind, he quickly pulled Yuanzhe into his room.
Later, when Qi Sheng knocked on their door again, Qi Yuancheng was still a little unsure.
“Dad, you?” He looked at Qi Sheng anxiously, hoping he hadn’t changed his mind.
Qi Sheng, looking at his nervous eldest son, asked, “Have you had dinner?”
Qi Yuancheng was momentarily taken aback, then quickly shook his head. That’s when he heard his dad say, “I’ll order takeout for you.”
After that, Qi Sheng didn’t interrupt their conversation anymore. He took out his phone, ordered food for the boys, and returned to his room to rest.
Now that he could finally get some rest, the two brothers, however, couldn’t calm down.
“Wu… Brother, when Dad and I were eating just now, Mom sent him a message revealing my background. She even said that we deliberately kept it from him just to trick him into continuing to support us… Wu… Brother… How could Mom do this? Why is she hurting us like this?!”
Qi Yuancheng frowned. “It was Mom who told Dad?”
Qi Yuanzhe nodded heavily. “I overheard Dad’s call just now. It sounded like it was Mom.”
Qi Yuancheng thought back to what Zhong Jin said that afternoon and realized the chances of it being her were quite high. His expression darkened. So his mother, just to make him willingly return to the Kang family, intended to completely sever their relationship with Dad?
A chill swept through Qi Yuancheng’s heart. Whatever faint affection he still had for Zhong Jin vanished completely. This woman was totally unworthy of being a mother!
The next morning, the father and his two sons ate breakfast in unusual silence. Qi Sheng looked at the boys sitting across from him and said, “You two don’t have to go to school today. I’ve already asked for leave for you. We’ll be going to the Civil Affairs Bureau shortly.”
The brothers obediently replied “Okay” in unison and exchanged a glance, each seeing worry and nervousness in the other’s eyes.
When they arrived at the Civil Affairs Bureau, Zhong Jin was already there waiting. She was surprised to see both boys getting out of Qi Sheng’s car, but quickly assumed that the message she sent last night must have worked. Qi Sheng must be planning to cut ties in front of the kids once and for all?
Zhong Jin couldn’t help but feel a little pleased. After today, her son would finally start focusing on returning to the Kang family!
The divorce was quickly finalized. As they exited the Civil Affairs Bureau, Zhong Jin, seeing that Qi Sheng had something to say, looked relaxed and unbothered.
“You have something more to say?”
Qi Sheng sneered at her demeanor. “Just to inform you—going forward, both children will be staying with me. They will only carry the Qi surname.”
While the two brothers lit up with joy at the news, Zhong Jin was utterly stunned. She stared at Qi Sheng in disbelief. “Qi Sheng, are you insane? They aren’t even your biological sons! Why should they stay with you?!”
Qi Sheng laughed. “They’re not three-year-olds without agency. Why don’t you ask them who they want to stay with?”
Before Qi Yuancheng could respond, Qi Yuanzhe immediately shouted, “My brother and I are staying with Dad!”
Zhong Jin glared at him, then turned to mock Qi Sheng. “Qi Sheng, are you not tired of wearing that green hat? They’re not even your flesh and blood, yet you’re still eager to raise them? You’re mentally ill! Don’t you think you should ask for my permission first?”
Qi Sheng was unfazed by her words and retorted, “That’s still better than you, using your own sons to latch onto a rich family. Zhong Jin, as long as I’m around, I will never let Xiao Cheng go back to the Kang family. Stop dreaming!”
Zhong Jin was livid at his words. Just as she was about to lash out further, Qi Yuancheng stepped forward. His tone was calm as he asked, “Was it you who sent that message to Dad yesterday?”
Zhong Jin was thrown off by her son’s unexpectedly composed expression. If he had come at her angrily, she wouldn’t be this nervous. Looking flustered, she immediately denied it. “No, no, it wasn’t me, Xiao Cheng. Don’t believe your dad’s nonsense!”
But Qi Yuancheng clearly didn’t believe her. He looked at her calmly and said, “From now on, just pretend you don’t have me as a son. Xiao Zhe too. If you want to chase your rich dreams, that’s your business—don’t interfere in our lives anymore. I will only listen to Dad, and from now on, I have nothing to do with the Kang family.”
Zhong Jin panicked. This wasn’t what she had planned at all. Qi Sheng was supposed to kick the boys out in a rage, they’d be homeless, and Qi Yuancheng would feel heartbroken and disillusioned. So why? Why was Qi Sheng acting so differently today?
She looked between Qi Sheng and the children, as if grasping at straws, and suddenly had a realization. She grabbed Qi Yuancheng’s arm. “Xiao Cheng, listen to Mom. Qi Sheng didn’t keep you because he cares. He’s doing it to get back at me! He’s deliberately keeping you from returning to the Kang family. Don’t fall into his trap!”
Qi Yuancheng gently removed her hand from his arm and smiled as he said, “As long as Dad is willing to let me stay by his side, I don’t care what he’s trying to do.” Then he turned without another look at Zhong Jin and led his brother straight back to the car.
Qi Sheng took one last glance at Zhong Jin’s furious and colorful expression, then turned away, uninterested in engaging any further.
Zhong Jin called after him. “Qi Sheng, don’t be so smug. Even if Xiao Cheng won’t go with me now, do you think you can stop the Kang family from coming to claim him when they want to?”
Qi Sheng laughed. “Whether I can stop them or not is one thing. But Zhong Jin, do you really think that even if Xiao Cheng returns to the Kang family, it would have anything to do with you? Let me give you a word of advice: some dreams are best left in your sleep—don’t take them too seriously!”
With that, Qi Sheng opened the car door and got in, ignoring Zhong Jin who was still yelling by the window.
As the car sped off, its exhaust blasting her in the face, Zhong Jin stared at the receding vehicle. Recalling the look Qi Yuancheng gave her—one that didn’t even linger—she finally fell into full-blown panic. If she lost Xiao Cheng… what would she do?
