In The Cultivation World, Are There Only Demonesses Left?

Chapter 35: You Will Be Controlled by Him for Life

Ninefold Heavenly Palace, a lonely peak surrounded by clouds.

Here stood a grand hall, its walls carved with countless scriptures.

Standing here, one could look down upon all living beings.

It was said—

From this place, immortals could gaze upon the entire world each day.

At the rear hall, behind a veil-draped bed, a delicate figure, brimming with spiritual vitality, seemed to be lying on her side.

A dazzling streak of crimson shot up the snowy peaks at extreme speed, finally halting before the palace gates.

“A great demon has emerged.”

She stood before the palace gates, speaking calmly: “Judging by its aura, it should be a great demon who once entered Jade Radiance. He must not be absorbed by the Desire Demon, or else the Desire Demon will become even harder to deal with.”

From within the palace came a single reply: “I already know.”

The voice was calm and undisturbed.

The immortal who dwelled upon the Ninefold Heavenly Palace did not seem to care much about the emergence of this so-called great demon.

The crimson figure spoke: “Will you draw your sword, or shall I?”

A gentle voice floated out from behind the veil: “I shall.”

Her voice was like the flowing of wind and water, like drifting snow at the peak of a snow-capped mountain.

One clearly heard it in their ears, yet it felt distant and ethereal; searching carefully, it was as elusive as a blue lotus hidden in the mist.

The crimson figure said: “You are becoming more and more like him—without emotion.”

The white veil drifted gently in the breeze: “He is my master. I will change myself according to his will.”

From behind the veil, a single feather floated out, caught the wind, and grew into a sword.

This sword was three feet and six inches long, with a blue-glass body, poised across the heavens as though it would tear through the winds.

It was said—

The Sect Master of the White Domain Dao Sect stood eternally upon the Ninefold Heavens.

When demons arose in the world, she could smite them all with a single sword from here.

This had only been a legend.

But today, one could see it was true.

After Daoist Chang’an disappeared, the strongest sword in this world was hers.

“Hm?”

Suddenly, the Dao Sect Master’s voice carried a note of puzzlement.

For something to cause this immortal, who had cultivated for countless years, to sound like a curious child was astonishing in itself.

The crimson figure seemed equally shocked: “Someone has borrowed a sword from Sword Solitary Sun… That is… ‘One Sword from the West’!?”

The ethereal mountain peak fell utterly silent again.

The sword that was about to pierce the heavens slowly faded away.

After a long time—

From behind the veil came a soft command: “There are fluctuations of law at Jade Palace. It seems someone intends to ascend Jade Radiance. Go and see for me, but do not interfere.”

The Dao Sect had always been like this.

As long as mortals were not involved, the Dao Sect could not be bothered to descend the mountain.

The crimson figure stared steadily at the silhouette behind the veil: “Then what of this sword?”

“Wedding Garment, must I explain such things to you in detail? Why don’t you come into my bed, and I shall tell you slowly there?”

The woman in red, named Wedding Garment, remained expressionless, her tone faint: “I understand.”

In this world, besides the two of them, no third person should be capable of unleashing “One Sword from the West.”

Thus, she must bring this person back to the Dao Sect.

The Dao Sect Master lay back down again, her voice drifting like a dream: “Remember to check the person’s shoulder, or perhaps the stomach… or maybe the hips… See if there is a Demon Mark.”

The Demon Mark exuded a cool current, flowing into her five viscera.

The beautiful fairy nearly let out a soft moan.

“True constancy responds to things, true constancy attains nature. Ever responsive, ever tranquil, ever pure… Just what sort of man is that fellow?”

Qiu Yuehan drew her circulation of spiritual energy to a close and slowly stood up.

The Fifth Realm was within reach.

But she was in no rush to break through, because she had already entered the Supreme Pure-Spirit Forget-Immortal Technique.

In cultivation, one must first cultivate the heart.

Every great sect’s heart technique was its most closely guarded secret, and also the hardest to master.

Qiu Yuehan still remembered that when she first learned the Jade Palace’s heart technique, she had to soak in the sect’s cold pool for a whole month before she could barely grasp a single thread of comprehension.

It had taken her another half year to reach the first layer.

But this Supreme Pure-Spirit Forget-Immortal Technique was different.

It had been less than ten days since she was taken away on the immortal crane, yet she had already entered the doorway of this technique, which was said to surpass even the Jade Palace’s heart law.

This was proof of how well-suited it was to her.

Thus, the path she had originally chosen would have to be altered slightly.

The sword she had cultivated before was a fierce sword that cut forward without retreat.

Naturally, her Dao comprehension had been the Dao of the Sword.

But now, with this new heart law, which Dao should she enter? She had to think carefully… or perhaps wait until that man stormed Jade Palace, then ask for his opinion?

Qiu Yuehan gently slapped her own cheeks.

“Qiu Yuehan, how can you think like this? Don’t forget—he is the thief who inscribed the Demon Mark on you while you were weak. You will be controlled by him for life.”

If that old monster ordered you to strip naked and practice swordplay before him, you would have to obey.

How could you harbor a good impression of him?!

Yet if being controlled by someone could grant such a powerful heart technique, then surely this cultivation world would be full of people smashing their heads bloody, kneeling at that man’s feet, lining up to offer him everything they had.

“Senior Sister Yuehan, Senior Sister Yuehan?!”

Someone knocked at the door of her pavilion, the voice soft—it was a woman.

Qiu Yuehan did not open the door, but instead said faintly: “What is it?”

She had always been this way within the sect.

If not exactly amiable, at the very least she was like frost and ice—cold to women, and even colder to men, to the point she was nearly ready to kill with her sword.

The junior sister at the door knew well Qiu Yuehan’s temperament, so she did not mind: “True Person Han Yi asks Senior Sister to come to the main hall.”

“I understand.”

Ever since returning to the sect, Qiu Yuehan had been healing her injuries within the cold pool, and had only returned to her pavilion yesterday.

She had not seen True Person Han Yi even once during this period.

Now, what business could True Person Han Yi have with her?

Though she thought so, Qiu Yuehan still quickly made her way to Jade Palace’s main hall.

Three True Persons sat within the grand hall.

In the past five hundred years, Jade Palace had suffered a decline in talent.

Aside from the Palace Mistress who had not appeared for a long time, no one had broken through the Seventh Realm Jade Radiance.

Some years ago, True Person Hanshui had seemed close, but failed in the attempt, and died of old age in meditation.

Even so, Jade Palace still firmly held its place as one of the Nine Sects and Twelve Palaces.

One Seventh Realm Jade Radiance and three Sixth Realm Dawning Sun were enough to sweep across the world.

When the Palace Mistress was in seclusion, the important affairs of the sect were decided by the three True Persons together.

Qiu Yuehan raised her head: “True Person has summoned me. Is it for an urgent matter?”

True Person Han Ze’s voice was stern: “True Person Han Yi has said that Xia Lianxue betrayed the palace, colluding with the demonic path to harm her fellow disciples. Since you were the one involved, we wish to hear your account.”

Qiu Yuehan replied: “I fainted at that time, and do not know what happened.”

“Then look at the memory projection.” True Person Han Yi raised her hand, and before them appeared a fragment of memory—captured from her own recollections.

Naturally, the vision was from Han Yi’s perspective.

It showed her approaching the carriage, the first thing she saw being Xia Lianxue falling into demonic ways and attempting to kill Qiu Yuehan.

True Person Han Ze said: “With this memory revealed, the palace must punish Xia Lianxue. True Person Han Yi and True Person Han Qiu have already agreed to expel Xia Lianxue from the palace and strip her of her True Disciple title.”

True Person Han Qiu, the third True Person, sat to the left in silence, saying nothing.

Qiu Yuehan took a deep breath.

In truth, she did not believe Xia Lianxue had fallen into demonic ways.

But she could not directly refute them, so she said: “True Person Han Yi, without sect trial, has expelled Junior Sister Lianxue and abolished her cultivation. Is this not against the rules?”

Xia Lianxue was no ordinary disciple.

She was a True Disciple raised in Jade Palace since childhood, and moreover the only disciple left behind by True Person Hanshui.

To expel her, all three True Persons should have agreed unanimously.

Han Yi’s actions were clearly against the rules.
