Impossible to Resist: Mr. CEO Falling In Love

Chapter 99: The Last Entanglement

Chapter 99: The Last Entanglement

Of course, an important figure made an appearance at the ballroom event, but Su Lingzhi’s mind was not on that at all.

She knew Tong Yan grew up in an orphanage, and nobody clearly understood what happened back then, why she was mistakenly taken by the Su Family, or who her biological parents were.

She certainly wanted to find her own family, so hearing about someone who resembled her so closely evoked such a strong emotional response, both earlier and now.

Halfway through the event, Su Lingzhi finally could not contain her curiosity and asked Rika, "Mommy, do you have a photo of your friend? I want to see with my own eyes how much she really resembles me."

"Yes, just a moment, I’ll find it for you." Rika immediately took out her phone, found a few photos, and handed the phone to her.

The girl in the photo looked to be about the same age as her, standing with grace and poise. The simple white dress added a bit of poetic charm, and there was a slight smile in her clear eyes.

She had slightly curly hair just like hers. The photo was blurry, so her facial features weren’t clear, but from her aura, they did seem quite similar. However, the person in the photo did not appear to be of Chinese descent.

Unfortunately, she just heard they said this person had already passed away, otherwise she would have really wanted to see her in person.

Rika then said to her, "That photo was taken more than twenty years ago. She was five years older than me, a very warm and caring older sister. We met in Country F, which was her homeland."

For some reason, although this person was not of the same race as her, seeing the photo made her feel very close to her.

Su Lingzhi couldn’t help but ask her, "Was she ever married back then?"

Rika shook her head, "No."

As soon as these words were spoken, it seemed to instantly sever any connection she might have had with this person.

Su Lingzhi’s face darkened slightly as she reflected on herself, realizing she shouldn’t suspect that everyone who looked like her could be her mother.

She returned the phone to Rika, but couldn’t help asking, "Mommy, can you send me the photo? I’d like to keep it as a memento."

"Of course."

After saying that, Rika sent the photo to her Whats in her presence.

Rika comforted her, "I don’t have any children. You are my only daughter, and I will take care of you. Even if you don’t find your biological parents, it doesn’t matter."

"Mommy, I want to find them." Her tone was particularly firm and sincere.

Rika instantly fell silent, looking at her with a complex expression.

At that moment, she couldn’t say anything, as if something extremely heavy was weighing on her heart, unable to be expressed.

Glancing around, she gently patted Su Lingzhi’s head, "Good girl, I will do my best to help you find your biological parents."

"Really?" A glimmer of hope instantly appeared in Su Lingzhi’s eyes.

But, how was she to find them, after all, they were not in the same country.

Rika nodded, "However, don’t get your hopes up too high."

"I’m already very grateful that Mommy is willing to help. I won’t ask for too much."

...

Elsewhere.

Fu Yinli came out of a private box and ran into Shao Yuwei, who was leaning against the wall.

With just a brief glance, his gaze moved away from her.

"Yinli." Shao Yuwei quickly chased after him, reaching out to block his path.

"What’s the matter?"

A cold and indifferent aura swept over her, and Shao Yuwei immediately felt the oppressive vibe emanating from him.

"I want to talk to you alone."

Fu Yinli replied, "You’re the one who can’t let it go; talking any number of times won’t change anything."

"I came to England alone and secretly. I wanted to see what kind of environment you’ve been living in for seven years. This is my first time here, and I’m very unfamiliar with it. Can you not leave me behind?"

Fu Yinli looked into her tearful eyes, her clear eyes carrying a pitifully alluring charm.

Seeing through her ploy with a single glance, he frowned and asked, "What does it have to do with me?"

"Even if you’re unwilling to forgive me, you shouldn’t abandon me in this unfamiliar country, for the sake of the Shao Family and my brother."

Fu Yinli snorted coldly, his deep gaze locking onto her, "Do you want me to take you home so you can watch me being affectionate with her?"

Shao Yuwei’s face suddenly darkened.

His eyes were filled with disdain towards her, avoiding her like the plague, and a sense of shame instantly flooded her heart.

Time and again she lost her dignity, humbly begging for his sympathy and love, yet every time he spoke harshly, deliberately using his new love to provoke her, without ever showing any intention of looking back.

"Yinli, is this your way of getting back at me?"

"I never considered you worth my attention, so how could it be revenge?" Fu Yinli frowned at her, giving a final warning, "I hope this is the last time you bother me."

After saying that, Fu Yinli bypassed her and stepped into the venue.

Shao Yuwei watched his resolute departing back through tears, her body suddenly becoming weak, supporting herself against the wall.

The last time she bothered him...

His heartlessness pierced her heart like a knife, making it hard for her to breathe.

A wave of confusion and helplessness engulfed her, invading her mind; she really didn’t know what to do.

She found Su Lingzhi by a floor-to-ceiling window.

Fu Yinli embraced her from behind, planted a tender kiss on her cheek, "Why did you come here?"

Su Lingzhi turned around, looking into those deep lake-like eyes, "Have you eaten?"

"Not yet."

Earlier, at the start of the dinner party, he wasn’t at the table, presumably discussing matters with someone, and had only just come out now. Su Lingzhi led him to the hot food area, scooped some dishes, and took him to sit at a small bar table.

Su Lingzhi leaned on the table, watching him eat. Their own small world was cozy and quiet, seemingly detached from the clinking and clanking around them.

After a few bites, Fu Yinli noticed her mind wandering and called out to her, "Zhizhi."

"Hmm?" Su Lingzhi responded instinctively.

"Do I look good?"

She paused, slowly understanding what he meant.

Su Lingzhi’s lips curved into an elegant smile, looking at him brightly, "You look good."

She moved her long bench closer to him, freely admiring his looks.

Being stared at so closely, Fu Yinli finally couldn’t take it, laid down his knife and fork, and said, "I’m full."

"But... you haven’t eaten much yet."

After wiping his mouth with a napkin, Fu Yinli pulled her up, leaned in, and whispered something in her ear, instantly making her ear turn red and hot.

Su Lingzhi followed his steps.

At the parking lot entrance of the club, in the dim shadows, he suddenly pressed her against the car for an intense kiss.

Witnessing this scene, Li and the surrounding bodyguards silently moved far away, all turning their backs, not daring to make a sound.
