Chapter 121: What Do You Like About Me?
Chapter 121: What Do You Like About Me?
How could she still feel so stirred by a man when she was long past being a young girl?
Adults are masters at concealing emotions, and she was no exception.
She tried her best to act indifferent towards him, her expression calm as she gazed at the deep, handsome figure in the study.
Fu Yinli looked up at her with a serene glance, "What is it?"
Jin Ya walked calmly toward him and said, "Sir, according to the plan, Miss needs to increase her exercise next week, but she’s not very willing."
"Go by her wishes, there’s no need to specifically come to ask me, as long as she’s willing to exercise."
As long as she’s willing to exercise...
With such low requirements, hiring her as a top-notch coach seemed somewhat underutilized.
But since the family has money and indulges the young lady, what could she say?
"I understand, I’ll head back then."
"Mm."
From the moment she turned to the door closing behind her, the man never once lifted his head, nor did he cast her a single glance.
But of course, compared to that young lady, in terms of youth and beauty, she had already lost thoroughly, let alone a man like him, what woman could he not have? How would he ever look at her?
Initially, she worried if the young lady had discovered her thoughts, hence the subtle criticism. But now it seemed she didn’t see her as an opponent at all; instead, someone else was the real adversary.
Half an hour later, the door to the study was knocked on again.
This time it was Su Lingzhi, freshly bathed.
Fu Yinli glanced up and saw her in a clean and fresh dress, her loose curls draped softly over her shoulders, elegant yet lively.
After Su Lingzhi entered, she circled him, wrapped her arms around his neck, and kissed his cheek, "Busy man, it’s time for breakfast."
"The temperature’s dropped, isn’t it cold wearing so little?"
Su Lingzhi leaned against him, answering, "No."
Having just finished exercise and a bath, her whole body was warm, and in a temperature-controlled room, she couldn’t feel the change in temperature at all.
Fu Yinli then put away the documents and wrapped his arm around her waist to walk downstairs.
During breakfast, he asked, "What’s the plan for today?"
"Stay home, not going anywhere." Su Lingzhi turned and asked him, "I saw lots of management books in your study, can I borrow a few to read?"
"Whatever book you want to read, just take it, no need to ask me."
"Okay."
Soon after, he instructed the butler to add an office chair in the study room.
"How’s it going working at the new company? Is the atmosphere okay?" Fu Yinli asked her.
"It’s quite good, just that the levels are too varied, and I lack management experience, so I’m a little bit under pressure."
The use of two repeated words together suggested that the pressure was not small.
"Have you thought about becoming an independent designer?"
"Of course, that’s my ultimate dream."
"Quit your job, and I’ll invest in you."
Su Lingzhi shook her head, "I’m still young, I want some experience outside first to avoid making more detours in the future."
"With me here, there’s no need for detours."
He followed up on her words without pausing, his tone not at all forceful, as if he just wanted to tell her that with him around, he would be her support.
Su Lingzhi was indeed tempted, but...
She changed the subject, "Lili, you don’t need to worry about me, I have my own ideas."
Fu Yinli’s gaze fell on her amber eyes, continuing to convince her, "With your current ability, you can totally be an independent designer, there’s no need to bear the work pressure under another brand."
Previously, during her internship at Lyrae, he was well aware of her situation at that time.
He didn’t want to see her exhausted to the point of illness from work again.
Su Lingzhi sighed and muttered to herself, "The work pressure was already high, now with my boyfriend not supporting me, the pressure is even greater."
Though her voice was small, each word was remarkably clear.
Fu Yinli was momentarily speechless, unable to do anything about her.
After breakfast, he went upstairs to the study, and Su Lingzhi followed him, hugging his neck from behind.
After being together for so long, she was well aware of his strong controlling tendencies and knew that slipping out of his control would make him unhappy, but she still wanted to stick to her ideas.
There was no other way but to coax him.
"Lili, I know you’re doing this for my own good, but I want to take it step by step, I won’t wrong myself."
"Mm."
"Can we drop this and not bring it up again in the future?"
Fu Yinli turned his eyes to her gentle face, seeing right through her little act.
She just wanted him not to meddle in her work affairs in the future.
He pulled her into his embrace and sat down, questioning her, "When have I ever stopped you from doing what you wanted?"
This question left Su Lingzhi speechless, staring at him in silence.
Upon reflection, he indeed seemed to have never done such a thing before.
But...
"You also can’t force me to do something I don’t want to do."
Fu Yinli gazed deeply at her, "For example?"
Su Lingzhi stalled for a long time, unable to recall anything he forced her to do, except... matters of the bed.
"Seems like the impression you have of me is quite poor." Fu Yinli commented.
"Yet I still ended up liking you." Su Lingzhi retorted unwillingly.
Those words indeed left Fu Yinli momentarily at a loss for words.
But his expression softened a little, the corners of his mouth lifting slightly, "What about me do you like?"
His deep eyes were filled with a thick smile, reflecting a fine gleam under the light, devoid of any oppression or threat.
His smile usually flitted away quickly, rarely lingering like it did now, and upon closer inspection, it was far more attractive than his profound demeanor.
Su Lingzhi tilted her head, leaving a soft kiss on the corner of his eye, smiling, "I’ll tell you later."
"Alright then, I won’t disturb your work, I’m going to read now." She said, getting off him, her gaze skimming over the rows of books on the shelf before picking a few and settling in opposite him.
The entire study gradually descended into a peaceful silence, with only the sound of pages turning.
During that time, Su Lingzhi sneaked several glances at him, observing him fully absorbed in his work. When she stepped out for a breath of fresh air midway, she instinctively lightened her steps.
It had to be admitted that working in the same space as him was especially oppressive.
Perhaps it was due to his authoritative presence; any slight noise from those around would seem like a harbinger of trouble when he was focused.
Though she knew for sure that Lili would never scold her.
Yet, as she descended the stairs, an imposing elderly man leaned on a cane and stepped inside.
When their eyes met, Su Lingzhi’s expression instantly froze.
