Chapter 668 - 639. Imperial Palace, Your Highness!_1
Chapter 668 - 639. Imperial Palace, Your Highness!_1
The gate frame above was devoid of any text or carvings, polished as smooth as a mirror. Besides a cold and mysterious aura, there was no sign of imminent danger. Behind the gate frame, the ancient stone bridge still seemed to extend into infinity. In other words, this gate frame was not the exit of the Bridge of Helplessness. But what was the purpose of this gate frame? If someone were to say that its purpose was just to decorate the Bridge of Helplessness, no one would believe them. Because, in a place like this, every single thing had its own significance and value.
Qin Feiyang pondered for a moment. He turned to look at Dongfang Wuheng, giving a faint smile. "Senior Brother Wuhen, could you please check out this gate frame?"
"Me?" Dongfang Wuheng pointed to himself, looking at Qin Feiyang in astonishment.
"Yeah," Qin Feiyang nodded.
"I might not be up to it!" Dongfang Wuheng said with a smile. "Look, in terms of strength, I am not a match for the Wolf King, and in terms of wits, I am not your equal either. So, I think it would be better for you two to scout ahead."
The Wolf King chuckled. "Senior Brother, you are too modest. I believe there’s nothing you can’t do with your abilities."
"I believe so too," Qin Feiyang nodded with a grin, adding, "Senior Brother, you aren’t scared, are you? If so, I won’t force you."
"Scared?" Dongfang Wuheng huffed. "Hmph! There’s nothing in this world I’m afraid of." He immediately began to stride towards the gate frame.
Qin Feiyang and the Wolf King exchanged glances, a look of mockery creeping into their eyes. Pride could sometimes be one’s downfall. For instance, if Dongfang Wuheng had swallowed his pride and admitted he was scared, Qin Feiyang really wouldn’t have been able to make him go and explore.
Soon enough, Dongfang Wuheng reached the gate frame. Looking at the void ahead, he seemed quite tense.
Suddenly, he regretted his decision. He understood that Qin Feiyang and the Wolf King were goading him into this. But why couldn’t he keep his composure and avoid this risk?
Seeing Dongfang Wuheng hesitating, a gleam appeared in Qin Feiyang’s eyes. He asked with concern, "Senior Brother, if you really are afraid, that’s okay. Don’t push yourself too hard."
Dongfang Wuheng cursed inwardly, Damn bastard! He forced a smile onto his face and said, "Junior Brother Qin, you’re underestimating me. Do I look like someone who quits halfway?"
"Moreover, since you have addressed me as Senior Brother, it’s my duty to shoulder this responsibility and ease your worries," Dongfang Wuheng added quickly.
Qin Feiyang’s face twitched. Give him an inch, and he takes a mile, huh? If that’s the case, then this charade must go on. He rubbed his nose and said, "Senior Brother, your righteousness and benevolence are truly touching!"
"Agreed. I’m nearly tearing up." The Wolf King nodded, blinking his large eyes and actually succeeding in squeezing out a couple of tears.
Qin Feiyang couldn’t help but curse silently, Damn, you missed your calling as an actor! He felt speechless.
The Wolf King snickered to himself, then waved a paw at Dongfang Wuheng and howled mournfully, "Senior Brother, travel safely!"
Ren Wushuang and the others’ faces turned black. Couldn’t that damn mutt curse people more tactfully? Does he think we’re idiots who can’t understand such obvious words?
Dongfang Wuheng took a sidelong glance at the Wolf King, an intense glare hidden in the depths of his eyes. Still, he didn’t say anything else, gritted his teeth and stepped into the gate frame.
Meanwhile, Qin Feiyang and the others held their breaths, watching Dongfang Wuheng intently. However, as time ticked by, he remained stationary. Because his back was facing them, they couldn’t see what his expression was like.
"What’s happening?" Shen Long wondered aloud in surprise.
The Wolf King said, "Murong Gouxiong, go and check it out."
Murong Xiong responded angrily, "Why should I?"
"Because my strength is superior to yours," the Wolf King responded arrogantly.
Murong Xiong glared at the Wolf King, clenching his fists tightly.
"What, still not convinced?" The Wolf King looked at him with a cold smirk, his threat barely concealed. "Looks like you want to take a dip in the sea."
Murong Xiong’s pupils contracted as he looked at the black sea below, his eyes full of fear. He roared inwardly, Damn beast, just you wait! One day, I’ll make you kneel and beg for mercy! Steeling himself, he reluctantly approached Dongfang Wuheng. He had no choice. Despite his immense unwillingness, faced with the Wolf King’s oppressive might, he could only compromise.
The others’ gazes converged on Murong Xiong. However, just like Dongfang Wuheng, Murong Xiong too stood still.
"There’s a problem," Lu Xingchen muttered grimly.
Ren Wushuang called out, "Dongfang Wuheng, Murong Xiong, reply if you can hear me."
However, the two neither answered nor even turned their heads, standing as if they were imprisoned there.
Qin Feiyang glanced at their backs, instructing, "Stay put and don’t move. I’ll go check."
"Be careful," Ren Wushuang cautioned.
Among all those present, there was no one more suitable than Qin Feiyang. He was cautious and resourceful. Most importantly, he possessed the Ancient Castle, allowing him to escape at the first sign of danger.
Qin Feiyang nodded, communicating to the Wolf King, "Take good care of Old Sister."
"Rest assured!" the Wolf King replied via voice transmission, hopping onto Ren Wushuang’s shoulder.
Qin Feiyang took a deep breath and slowly walked towards Dongfang Wuheng and Murong Xiong. The hearts of Ren Wushuang and the others were also on edge.
Arriving at the gate frame, Qin Feiyang did not hesitate and stepped right next to Dongfang Wuheng and Murong Xiong. Then, he turned his head, intending to observe their expressions. But at the moment he turned his head, Dongfang Wuheng and Murong Xiong disappeared without a trace!
What’s happening? Qin Feiyang rubbed his eyes in shock, then opened them to look again. This time, he saw an even more incredible sight!
The Bridge of Helplessness was gone. The gate frame was gone too. There was no sign of Ren Wushuang or the others. The black ocean had also disappeared.
In its place was a luxurious palace.
The ground was covered with white jade stones, free of any dust. The walls on all sides were embedded with various emeralds and pieces of colored glaze, emitting a hazy glow. In addition, four robust stone pillars stood at the corners of the palace. On each pillar was a Golden Dragon, its claws ready to strike, appearing incredibly lifelike. And at the front of the palace stood a gold-crafted bed, with every pattern on it intricately carved.
This place could only be described as exceedingly extravagant!
At this moment, Qin Feiyang found himself lying on the bed, covered by a gold quilt.
What happened? Qin Feiyang opened his eyes wide and stared at the splendid palace ceiling, utterly bewildered.
Gradually, a strange stirring arose within him.
This place looks familiar!
Suddenly, he sat up abruptly. In doing so, he felt an excruciating pain, causing him to let out a groan.
CLICK! Before Qin Feiyang could understand why his body was wracked with such intense pain, the sound of hurried footsteps approached, and two young women in palace attire rushed in from outside.
"Prince, you’ve finally awoken!" the two young women cried out joyfully when they saw Qin Feiyang sitting on the bed.
"Prince!"
At this title, Qin Feiyang was struck with shock, his whole body trembling!
He remembered. This was his former bedroom! This chamber had been built for him by his father, the current Emperor of the Great Qin Empire! He recalled this place being a birthday gift for his eighth birthday. It might have merely been a place to sleep, but it held extraordinary significance.
To the left of the chamber was the Imperial Palace’s Martial Arts Treasury. The right side was the Emperor’s own quarters, not even half a li away!
He still remembered his father’s intentions behind this gift at that time. One was to allow him easy access to the Martial Arts Treasury to study various Martial Arts Techniques. Because in his childhood, his greatest passion was visiting the Martial Arts Treasury. Second, it enabled his father, the Emperor, to guide him in cultivation. Due to his gifted talent, the Emperor often tutored him personally.
One could claim that the young Qin Feiyang enjoyed an exceptional amount of affection.
However, he was no longer the Fourteenth Prince he once was, so why was he here?
Qin Feiyang’s mind was in complete chaos.
The two maids ran up to him, asking with concern, "Your Highness, you just woke up and your body is still weak. Please rest." As they spoke, they gently laid him back down on the bed, holding his shoulders and arms.
Qin Feiyang was completely bewildered, allowing the two maids to attend to him.
He knew these two maids quite well. One was named Qin Xi and the other Qin Yue. Both were about fifteen or sixteen, with quite striking appearances. In the Imperial Palace, it was customary for all maids, guards, or eunuchs to change their surnames to Qin, irrespective of their original surnames. Their first names were usually chosen by the masters they served. Therefore, the names of these two maids were personally chosen by Qin Feiyang.
After arranging the quilt for Qin Feiyang, Qin Xi asked, "Your Highness, are you feeling uncomfortable anywhere?"
Although Qin Feiyang had calmed down, he remained silent, carefully contemplating the sequence of events. He was on the Bridge of Helplessness earlier, but upon entering that gate frame, he’d returned to the Imperial Palace. Did that gate have a teleportation function? But that can’t be right! If it truly had a teleportation function, why weren’t Dongfang Wuheng and Murong Xiong teleported away? What on earth is going on?
"Your Highness, please say something! Don’t scare us like this," begged Qin Xi and Qin Yue, their faces etched with anxiety as Qin Feiyang remained quiet.
Qin Feiyang looked at the two girls, a smile appearing on his face. Although these two maids did not possess the Qin Clan’s Bloodline Power, they were the closest people to him, besides his mother. In private, he used to refer to them as his sisters.
Seeing the smile on Qin Feiyang’s face, Qin Xi and Qin Yue both let out a sigh of relief.
Qin Yue beamed, "Your Highness, you’ve been unconscious for so long, you must be hungry. What would you like to eat? I’ll order the Imperial Dining Room to prepare it."
"Unconscious?" Qin Feiyang was startled, asking, "How long have I been unconscious?"
The moment he spoke, he froze. Why did his voice sound so immature? That wasn’t his current voice at all. It was the voice he’d had as a child!
