A fierce light glinted in the Wolf King’s eyes. "Say that again. Who’s the prey?"

"You can talk?"

Tan Wu was taken aback, then nodded. "That’s good; it makes communication easier. From now on, you will follow me. I guarantee you a life of peace."

"Follow you?"

The Wolf King gave Tan Wu a strange look. Is this fool for real? He grinned mockingly. "Alright!"

Tan Wu laughed heartily. "So direct! I like your style."

The corner of the Wolf King’s mouth twitched as he fought back a laugh. He asked, "What’s next?"

"Isn’t it obvious?" Tan Wu’s eyes glinted with murderous intent as he glanced at Qin Feiyang and Shen Mei. "Of course, we’ll kill the two people behind you together."

"Kill them?"

The Wolf King turned his head to look at Qin Feiyang and Shen Mei, his expression unreadable.

A chill ran down Shen Mei’s spine. She nervously asked Qin Feiyang via voice transmission, "Is the Wolf King... alright?"

If the Wolf King truly betrayed them, it would be like adding frost to snow for the Spirit State.

"What could possibly be wrong?" Qin Feiyang shook his head and chuckled.

In this world, anyone might betray him, but never the Wolf King.

The Wolf King suddenly turned his head to Tan Wu. "Haven’t you realized I’m with them?"

"With them?" Tan Wu frowned instantly.

The Wolf King shook his head mockingly. "It seems your brain isn’t working too well!"

The Wolf King pondered for a moment, then nodded. "There’s some truth to what you say. How about this: I happen to be short one human pet. Why don’t you follow me? Not only will I ensure your life is glorious, but I’ll also bestow upon you a great Fortune."

Tan Wu, initially pleased, felt his expression darken upon hearing the second half of the sentence. Once the Wolf King finished, he spat, "Shameless!"

The Wolf King sneered. "Damn! Who’s the shameless one here? You think *you’re* qualified for *me* to follow *you*?"

"How dare you speak to Senior Brother Tan Wu like that! Are you looking for death?"

"Kneel and apologize, and we’ll grant you an intact corpse!"

Just then, the group of burly men reached the mountain peak. Upon hearing the Wolf King’s words, they immediately started berating him.

"So many of them?" Qin Feiyang raised an eyebrow and asked quietly, "Shen Mei, what are their cultivation levels?"

Shen Mei quickly scanned them and replied via voice transmission, "Four One-star War Ancestors, eight Nine-Star War Emperors. The others are between Four-star and Seven-star War Emperors. But I can’t see through Tan Wu’s cultivation; he should be a Two-star War Ancestor."

"This lineup is stronger than ours too!" Qin Feiyang sighed. It seemed that among the nine great states, Spirit State was truly at the bottom. After all, even now, Spirit State didn’t have a single Two-star War Ancestor protecting it.

Shen Mei felt the same.

The burly men nodded repeatedly, a distinctly playful glint in their eyes.

Tan Wu said, "I didn’t say you were wrong. I just meant we should usually keep a low profile, understand?"

"Understood, understood."

"Low profile, simple enough," the burly men chuckled.

"Teachable, indeed." Tan Wu nodded with a satisfied smile, then turned back to the Wolf King, still smiling. "Don’t listen to them. As long as you kneel and apologize, I’ll still consider letting you follow me."

The Wolf King shrank to palm-size and landed on Qin Feiyang’s shoulder. Looking down at Tan Wu condescendingly, he said disdainfully, "You kneel and apologize, and *I* might consider letting you continue as *my* human pet."

"Are you truly seeking death?" Tan Wu’s gaze darkened.

The Wolf King burst out laughing, then his eyes turned cold as he said, "Hahaha! I think the one seeking death is you. Is a Two-star War Ancestor supposed to be a big deal?"

Before the Wolf King could finish, Tan Wu’s body trembled, and a terrifying aura erupted from him. In that instant, he was like a savage beast that had chosen its prey, sending shivers down their spines!

Shen Mei’s eyes trembled slightly. She whispered, "He really is a Two-Star War Ancestor. Wolf King, are you confident you can handle him?"

The Wolf King retorted, clearly displeased, "Little Shen, how can you ask such a foolish question? Who am I? I am the heroic and mighty, peerless Divine Wolf, invincible in this world! Understand?"

Shen Mei’s face twitched. She wisely chose to remain silent, lest the Wolf King call her a fool again.

The Wolf King then looked at Tan Wu arrogantly and said, "Stop wasting my time! Bring your whole motley crew; let’s get this over with!"

"Motley crew?"

"How dare you look down on us?"

The burly men were enraged.

"To deal with three little runts like you, we don’t even need Senior Brother Tan Wu to act! I alone am enough to make you kowtow and beg for mercy!"

A skinny young man stepped out from the crowd. He scanned Qin Feiyang, Shen Mei, and the Wolf King, his eyes filled with contempt.

"More arrogant than I am?" The Wolf King grinned, baring his sharp fangs. "Then I’d like to see if you truly have the skills to back that up."

"Then keep your eyes wide open!" the skinny young man roared. His aura exploded outwards, and he lunged towards the two humans and one wolf.

"A One-star War Ancestor?" A hint of surprise flashed in the Wolf King’s eyes. He then said, "No wonder you’re so cocky; you do have some strength. Unfortunately for you, meeting me seals your doom!"

He leaped down, landed on the ground, and then executed the Evacuation Step, rushing towards the skinny young man.
