Chapter 368 - 29 - You There? How About Signing a Contract First?
Chapter 368 - 29 - You There? How About Signing a Contract First?
In a certain corner of the world, Gray Serpent spoke cautiously to the projection on the throne before him.
"Venerable One, what do you think..."
"Pay it no mind. Do what you are supposed to do."
Kevin waved a dismissive hand at the humble Gray Serpent.
"Yes."
Gray Serpent bowed his head respectfully, turned, and slowly walked out of the secret chamber.
"It is not yet time for the Serpent to surface. As for the outside world, let them continue..."
Kevin's azure eyes were as placid as an ancient well. He was driven now by a single obsession... for the sake of a promise... and for that final moment. As long as the ultimate goal could be achieved, then the process...
---o---
"Did you forget something?"
That evening, the Dragon suddenly spoke to Wende through the system panel.
"Forget what? What are you talking about? Stop being a riddler and spit it out!"
Wende glared resentfully at the glowing light screen. He had already turned off the lights and was about to fall asleep, and this thing suddenly decided to hit him with a midnight... Aeon flashbang?
"You'll get burned with a temper like that. Even from an Aeon's perspective, I'm your senior. Can't you show a little respect to your elders?"
The Dragon complained at Wende. If Wende didn't know what His voice sounded like, he would have thought it was some old man chattering on and on.
"There's only one person I have a temper with. Guess who?"
Wende retorted to the Dragon before him, his face impassive. Never mind that this thing was hiding in his body for various reasons; the fact that it acted all mysterious and played the riddler every day was enough to make him suspect that the one inside him wasn't Long of [The Permanence], but Mythus of [The Enigmata]!
"If you're going to be like that, then I won't say anything either. We can just have a standoff and see who's more stubborn. What do you think?"
The Dragon immediately went into slacker mode. It wasn't like He had to tell him things. Without His reminders, would the universe really collapse into the [Finality] with no hope left?
Alright, that was actually a possibility. After all, the future was unknown, and the futures that could be foreseen had already become blurred and indistinct. But overall, they all pointed to that one ending...
"Then don't disturb my sleep."
Wende decisively pulled the small blanket over his head, shutting out the world. Why couldn't this thing tell him in the morning? Did it have to toss a flashbang at him in the middle of the night? And right when he was about to sleep, no less. He wouldn't believe it wasn't intentional. Don't give him any excuses like not having enough energy or being afraid of being spied on. Who could possibly see this sneaky bastard?
"Sigh, fine. You're the busy one, and I'm the unemployed bum, happy now? I won't keep you in suspense. Do you remember that you're the boss of a company now?"
The Dragon suddenly brought up the matter.
"Hm?"
Wende's brow furrowed slightly. Why was He talking about this? Could it be that the planet actually had some other use?
"I'm guessing you're now wondering what use that broken planet and that company-in-name-only actually have, right?"
The Dragon's tone was still as smug as ever. Wende rolled his eyes at the light screen.
"Spit it out! I have an 8 AM class to teach tomorrow."
Wende said, his patience wearing thin.
"Fine, fine. You really can't take a joke."
The Dragon made the system's light screen wobble, as if sighing in disappointment.
A vein throbbed on Wende's forehead.
"Alright, I'll just remind you of one thing. Since this [miHoYo Interstellar Inc.] of yours is a company, as the boss, have you ever considered the fact that, to this day, your entire company doesn't have a single employee?"
Fwoosh~
Accompanied by the Dragon's prankish sound effect, another golden light flashed across Wende's vision, illuminating the entire room.
Wende: "..."
"That's the second time you've flashed me tonight. I advise you to say something useful, or tomorrow I'll set up a monument for you in the backyard of St. Freya and plate it with the most vicious words you'll ever hear in your life."
Wende said, his face still devoid of expression.
"Are you twelve?"
The Dragon looked at the dejected Wende and couldn't help but retort with some helplessness.
Couldn't this guy treat Him the way he treats everyone else? He was, at the very least, one of the most ancient Aeons. Give him some face, would you!?
Wende didn't reply to the Dragon's jab. Instead, he directly picked up the object that was still glowing before him.
"This is... a contract?"
Wende looked at the document in his hands, his face filled with confusion.
"miHoYo Employee Contract." Did this mean that anyone who signed it would become an employee of miHoYo Interstellar Inc.? But what was the point of that?
Wende flipped to the next page, and a series of very official-looking clauses came into view.
"All employees who sign this contract shall enjoy the benefits provided by miHoYo Interstellar Inc.
Benefit 1: Exclusive miHoYo Employee ID. This ID is bound to one person for life and can be terminated at any time with the consent of the binding person. All holders of this ID will receive a 50% discount when playing games or purchasing merchandise from miHoYo Interstellar Inc.
Benefit 2: All contracted employees will receive a one-time teleportation binding opportunity, linking a designated location to miHoYo Interstellar Inc. You can teleport directly from anywhere in the cosmos back to miHoYo Interstellar Inc. or your bound location, regardless of time or place. (PS: Only usable within the material world and the current dimension.) Perfectly solves the problem of long employee commutes!
Benefit 3: One (1) complimentary leg ring."
"?"
"Are you serious about Benefit Three?"
Wende looked up at the light screen with an expression of disgust.
"Are you talking to me? I didn't make this stuff, how would I know? If your system hadn't been acting up recently and making me deliver things to you, I wouldn't have even known this existed."
If the Dragon had a physical body right now, He would definitely be shrugging and looking at Wende with disdain.
"Oh, right, there are prerequisites for signing this thing. Remember to check, it's on the back. I'm leaving now. If you can't sleep after this, don't blame me!"
With those words, the Dragon truly vanished. Wende didn't mind; His presence only served to make his stable blood pressure skyrocket.
"Prerequisite for Contract Signing: The signing employee must be a well-known miHoYo personnel. Certain non-essential personnel should choose a different contract for signing."
"Well-known miHoYo personnel? This requirement..."
Wende frowned, thinking hard. Why did that phrase sound so familiar?
"It couldn't be miHoYo's well-known actors, could it? No, there are only a few of those, so that's not it either... Could it be... all the playable characters in the games?"
Wende felt like he had just hit upon the crucial point.
