Chapter 39
Chapter 39
39. Jiang Jiang
"These are the student IDs. Hand them out in a bit."
Bai Wei took a stack of red student IDs from the drawer and handed them to Meng Lian.
How would I know who they are!
Of course, Meng Lian wouldn't say that out loud. She'd agree to whatever the boss asked first and figure it out later.
"Got it."
"Also, bring your phone here. I'll teach you how to unlock the other locked features. In a bit, you go help the other students unlock theirs using the same method."
"Got it!"
The Class Monitor really was the ultimate drudge. There were over fifty students in the class. Helping them one by one, Meng Lian already felt like she was about to die of exhaustion.
But this was an assignment from the boss. She didn't dare complain.
The unlocking process was very simple. It was done in less than a minute. After finishing this, Meng Lian returned to the classroom holding the student IDs.
By now, quite a few people had arrived in the classroom. Some lit up when they saw Meng Lian and greeted her enthusiastically. Of course, there were also people lurking in the corners, silently watching Meng Lian with hostile gazes.
Meng Lian returned a smile to those who greeted her. At the same time, she noticed the hostile gaze from the corner.
It was actually a zombie.
In the corner was a zombie loli wearing a very retro slate-grey robe. The zombie loli had slate-grey skin. Seeing Meng Lian look over, she didn't dodge. She just kept staring at Meng Lian. Her hollow eyes seemed to say:
I will always stare at you. Always.
Weird.
Meng Lian didn't know this zombie loli, so she didn't take it to heart. After all, for a zombie, being weird was just normal.
Seeing that about half the class had arrived, Meng Lian started flipping through the student IDs and handing them out to those present first.
"Shen Ning, here are yours."
Meng Lian gave Shen Ning and her two friends their IDs. Qingluan took them but also took the opportunity to stroke Meng Lian's small hand, making Meng Lian's heart itch.
Sister, you are playing with fire!
If this were in Nordlin, I'd definitely have my way with you.
As for reality, better not.
Meng Lian coughed and didn't pursue it. Qingluan had a smug look on her face. After Meng Lian left, she even let out a silvery giggle. Meng Lian vaguely heard the words "smooth and soft," making her a bit embarrassed.
Just then, another group arrived in the classroom, including Gabriel and Phoeby.
"Here are your two student IDs."
These two were acquaintances. Meng Lian quickly found their IDs, her tone relaxing.
"Thanks."
"Hehe, thanks Class Monitor~"
Gabriel smiled gently, while Phoeby thanked her with a carefree grin.
By now, most of the class had arrived, only about ten people missing. Meng Lian picked up the last student ID and found it belonged to that zombie loli.
"Hel-lo... I... am... Jiang Jiang... This... seems... to... be... mine."
Just then, Meng Lian heard a voice without emotion from below. She looked down and found her "Big Sister" blocked her view. She could only see half of the other person. A flash of awkwardness crossed her eyes. Meng Lian stepped back and saw who it was.
It turned out to be that zombie loli. This zombie loli named Jiang Jiang spoke in broken sentences. Her hollow eyes stared fixedly at Meng Lian's Big Sister. Her small face was written full of grievance.
Meng Lian realized now that the other party wasn't hostile toward her, but toward her Big Sister.
Hmm, was that really necessary?
"Sorry, here you go."
Meng Lian handed Jiang Jiang her student ID. Jiang Jiang took it but didn't turn around. She actually walked backward facing Meng Lian and returned to the corner, staring dead at Meng Lian.
Meng Lian didn't bother with her. Just a zombie loli craving Big Sister. Why bother with her?
It was 9:50 now. The rest finally arrived one by one. But Meng Lian found the student IDs were all handed out.
Meng Lian looked at these people, including boys. Even the girls had no magic fluctuation. She understood. These were people who hadn't successfully transformed, so Bai Wei hadn't prepared student IDs for them.
These people were silent, in stark contrast to the chatting classmates around them. This included "Simp." He sat in his seat without a word. Not far away, Shen Ning saw him and covered her mouth laughing, pointing at him. Gloating was practically written on their faces.
"Simp" seemed to hear their mockery too. His freckled face was pale. He clenched his fists tightly but soon loosened them, lowering his head without a word.
Seeing this, Meng Lian was helpless. She knew the grudge between "Simp" and Shen Ning's group. She had heard the whole story, even getting dragged into it herself. For "Simp," she didn't have much resentment or sympathy. It was just his choice. She shouldn't interfere.
Whether joining the Witch House to serve clients or working hard to pay off debts, these were everyone's own choices. Judging others by one's own standards felt a bit like moral blackmail.
Meng Lian shook her head and ignored it. She returned to her seat. Soon Shen Ning left Qingluan and the others to sit beside her.
"Ha, I knew that Simp didn't succeed. Look at him, just seeing him makes me happy."
Shen Ning was gloating. Seeing this, Meng Lian was helpless.
Sister, isn't that a bit too petty of you?
"By the way, Meng Lian, what do you think of the Witch House?"
Just then, Shen Ning suddenly asked. Her small face showed no expression, seeming not to care, but her tightly clenched hands revealed her inner anxiety.
"It's a good place. Why?"
Meng Lian knew what she meant. After all, none of them were born witches. The ethics of their original culture still constrained them. Although they acted like they didn't care when arguing with "Simp" earlier, only they knew if they truly didn't care.
"Nothing, nothing. I was just asking casually."
Shen Ning's eyes darted. Seeing this, Meng Lian smiled.
"It's fine. We're witches now. The Witch House and such completely fits the witch worldview. Don't feel too pressured."
Hearing this, Shen Ning secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
Just as she was about to say something, Bai Wei pushed open the door.
Bai Wei got straight to the point. First, she congratulated those who had successfully transformed. Then she called out the names of those who hadn't successfully transformed, telling them to follow her to the office.
Finally, Bai Wei asked Meng Lian to help the remaining students unlock the other features one by one. Hearing this, Meng Lian sighed.
What a workhorse!
Meng Lian went down to guide them one by one. To save time, she found one person in each small group, taught her, and then had her teach the others. This way, from point to surface, most succeeded quickly.
But when she came to Jiang Jiang, Meng Lian almost lost it.
"Ex-cuse... me... what... is... a... phone?"
