I'm an Undercover Witch, Not a Bed-Warming Witch!

Chapter 23

Chapter 23

23. New Dress

Modu pushed an exquisite gift box in front of Meng Lian, who looked at it with some surprise.

"Senior Sister, this is too valuable, I..."

Meng Lian hadn't expected the clothes Modu bought her to be packaged so luxuriously. Modu simply shook her head.

"It was only three hundred credits. Not expensive at all. The packaging just makes it look fancier than it is."

Yeah, right.

This outfit was custom-made by Modu and cost her ten thousand credits.

Of course, Modu didn't mention this. As a seasoned player in the game of romance, she had already begun setting her trap.

Sure enough, just as Modu expected, Meng Lian hurriedly pulled out her phone. "But that's still a lot. You spent too much on me. Let me transfer it to you right now."

Modu didn't refuse and happily accepted the transfer.

After all, Meng Lian would definitely learn the true price of this outfit someday. When she found out and recalled this moment, seeds of panic, shame, and guilt would plant themselves in her heart. The next time she saw Modu, she would naturally be put on the back foot, making it easier to set up the next moves in this game.

Meng Lian couldn't have known about Modu's little schemes. She was just marveling at how thoughtful Modu was, wrapping the clothes in such a beautiful gift box.

"All right. As your Senior Sister, I won't play games with you. You've paid, so this outfit is yours now."

Modu swirled the coffee in her hand, the corners of her lips curving upward.

"It's getting late. My Junior Sister hasn't eaten yet, right? How about I treat you to a meal? Consider it a small gesture from your Senior Sister."

"Huh? Well... okay then."

At this point, Meng Lian couldn't very well refuse.

Besides, Modu was her Senior Sister and had helped her tremendously. Meng Lian didn't want to disappoint her.

Modu was very measured. The restaurant she took Meng Lian to was a mid-sized establishment. Since it was already mealtime, the place was crowded.

The meal cost one hundred twenty credits for the two of them. Just right.

Modu certainly had the means to take Meng Lian somewhere fancier, but she knew well that sometimes the best option wasn't actually good. Just right was what worked best.

They both enjoyed the meal. Meng Lian learned a lot about the Witch Academy from Modu, and Modu conversed with perfect propriety. They got along wonderfully.

"Thank you, Senior Sister! I'll head back now. Bye~"

After the meal, Meng Lian held the gift box and thanked her sweetly.

"Bye. I'll find you again after your entrance exam ends."

Modu smiled, gave Meng Lian a hug, and then walked off in the opposite direction.

Modu smelled wonderful, like the cool, woody scent of sandalwood intertwined with pine. But on the second breath, a gentle hibiscus fragrance emerged, soft and delicate, just like Modu herself, cool on the outside but intricate and alluring on the inside.

Watching Modu's tall, slender figure walk away, Meng Lian felt a wave of emotion.

So nice. Senior Sister Modu was truly wonderful.

Beautiful, reliable, humble and polite, with a strong sense of boundaries. Being around her was a pleasure.

The only pity was that she seemed to have too many romantic entanglements.

But Meng Lian understood. Someone as wonderful as her Senior Sister was bound to have many girls who liked her.

Only natural.

She had no idea that Modu was already considering whether to raise the child herself or hand it over to the government if she and Meng Lian ever made a baby.

Meng Lian returned to the dormitory with the gift box and opened it up. Her eyes instantly lit up.

So beautiful!

Modu had bought her a white and gold dress, complete with white and gold leather boots and white over-the-knee stockings.

But the most important piece was that cream-white brassiere. Meng Lian couldn't wait to try it on and immediately discovered a whole new world.

This was way too comfortable.

The fabric was thin as a cicada's wing, yet soft and silky. The size was a perfect fit for her Big Sister, as if they were made for each other. When Meng Lian fastened the clasp, there was neither any digging into her flesh nor any looseness. She took a few steps and was amazed to find that her Big Sister behaved beautifully, not swinging around mischievously like before.

"Perfect."

Meng Lian admired herself in the mirror. Her reflection looked alluring yet innocent.

"But wait. Is this really the kind of material you get for three hundred credits?"

At this point, Meng Lian noticed something was off. If three hundred credits could get this level of quality, then she could only admire the witches for doing honest business and not treating consumers like fools.

Meng Lian certainly wasn't stupid. She quickly figured out that Modu had lied to her. This outfit definitely wasn't that price.

But she didn't panic. Instead, she started planning to earn more credits so she could pay Modu back the few thousand credits as soon as possible.

That's right. Meng Lian estimated this outfit should cost around two thousand credits. Two thousand credits. If she tightened her belt, she could manage that.

Modu: (smiles)

Meng Lian didn't dwell on it further. She put on the new dress and braided her hair into a plait that circled the back of her head.

She walked to the mirror and found herself staring in amazement.

The girl in the mirror wore an outfit that blended practicality with fashion. The upper body was clad in a fitted white cropped top that perfectly showcased her slender waist. The neckline gaped slightly, revealing a small patch of fair skin and adding a touch of effortless allure. The sleeves tapered at the cuffs, tied with delicate blue ribbons into bows, which prevented any inconvenience during movement while adding a playful charm to the overall look. The lower body featured blue shorts with irregularly cut edges, paired with white stockings that kept her warm without sacrificing style. The stockings were dotted with golden patterns that echoed her golden hair, making the ensemble look even more magnificent.

They say clothes make the person, just as a saddle makes the horse. Meng Lian already had an excellent foundation, and with this obviously expensive dress, that proud, confident, and lovely aura shone through instantly.

The outfit fit perfectly. Meng Lian could finally move freely without the inconvenience she had felt before.

She took a few narcissistic photos and sent them to Modu.

Lian (Big Stack Junior Sister): "Senior Sister, it's so pretty. Thank you, Senior Sister~"

Modu felt her phone vibrate. She opened it and saw the photo Meng Lian had sent. She couldn't help but gulp.

Damn, that stunning?

"What are you looking at? Your eyes are practically popping out."

Modu was in a textile shop. Standing beside her was a girl with cherry-blossom pink hair that faded to black at the tips. The girl seemed very familiar with Modu. She leaned in to look at Modu's phone screen and her eyes instantly lit up.

"Hey, isn't that the outfit you commissioned from me? I really am amazing. It looks great."

Modu rolled her eyes at that.

"Zhizhen, that's because my Junior Sister is beautiful. Your clothes are just the icing on the cake, okay?"

"This is your Junior Sister? I thought it was another girlfriend you'd seduced from somewhere."

Zhizhen was a bit surprised, but quickly understood. After all, she knew Modu's character all too well.

"So, what script have you prepared this time? Are you going to have your way with your Junior Sister in front of her girlfriend while she sleeps, or is it the classic script where you use illusions to disguise yourself as her girlfriend?"

"My Junior Sister doesn't have a girlfriend yet. I'm planning to switch scripts and handle this one personally."

"Pfft!"

Zhizhen nearly choked on her own saliva. She touched Modu's forehead. "Strange, you don't have a fever."

"What? Can't I pursue a pure romance?" Modu said, annoyed.

"Pure romance? You?"

Zhizhen seemed to have heard something hilarious. She scoffed and walked into the shop.

"A leopard can't change its spots. Once a homewrecker, always a homewrecker. You want pure romance? Hah. Go to sleep and dream about it."

Modu ignored Zhizhen's mockery. She was busy chatting with Meng Lian.

Modu: "Very beautiful. It suits you well."

Modu: (Kitten giving thumbs up.jpg)
