Chapter 167: A SHADY DEAL
Chapter 167: A SHADY DEAL
WONYOUNG crossed his arms over his chest while listening to Yun Dujun’s phone call with Lee Heeju.
Since there were things that they might talk about that other people couldn’t hear, the two of them excused themselves. They stepped out of the dining hall and went to the patio, where no one else was there.
An Baekya and Yun Yuhyun stayed in the dining hall with Song Sihyuk, Lim Garam, and Song Gunwoo.
"You must really be thick-skinned to reach out first, Lee Heeju."
"We should all drop the act, Yun Dujun. At this point, don’t we already know the truth? Ah, I believe it’s more appropriate to say that we’ve discovered a miracle, all thanks to your family’s shaman."
Wonyoung frowned.
Yes, the call was on loud speaker.
Hence, he could hear Lee Heeju’s bullshit loud and clear.
As expected, Lee Heeju already knew what was going on after reading the manuscript.
"I have someone you definitely want to save, and you have someone I need. So, why don’t we exchange hostages?"
Wonyoung rolled his eyes.
"Hostages?" Yun Dujun scoffed. "We did not kidnap anyone, unlike you."
"But you know exactly what I’m talking about, Dujunnie."
"Stop calling me that— we’re not kids anymore."
Wonyoung was glad Yun Dujun called out Lee Heeju on that.
He almost snatched the phone from his husband to give Lee Heeju a piece of his mind.
I know it’s just a pet name. But Dujun Hyung and Lee Heeju aren’t on friendly terms anymore. Hearing that bastard call my husband ’Dujunnie’ is annoying.
Yeah, Wonyoung was being small-minded.
But whatever.
"You’re breaking my heart, Dujun-ah."
"That’s usually what happens when someone rejects you," Yun Dujun said casually, obviously not giving a fuck. "Stop with this nonsense, Lee Heeju."
"Alright, alright. Back to the boring stuff."
To be honest, Wonyoung thought Lee Heeju was acting strange.
Has he always been this laidback? The Heeju Ahjussi I remember is always calm and collected. But he sounds childish now.
It was as if Lee Heeju was treating the entire thing like a game.
"I have An Baekya’s uncle."
Tsk.
Wonyoung clenched his hands, annoyed by the realization that Lee Heeju already knew who Lim Bada was.
"I’ll kill him if I have to."
Okay, that didn’t sound like an empty threat.
"You know I could, and you also know that I’ll get away with murder easily. Have you ever heard of a chaebol getting arrested for murder? Yeah, chaebols go to prison for petty crimes like tax evasion or embezzlement. But we only do that to calm the public. And even if we’re in prison, we still get treated like royalty."
Wonyoung didn’t know he could hate Lee Heeju more than he already did, but it just happened.
Tax evasion and embezzlement were just petty crimes to that bastard?
And he dared brag about how chaebols were still treated like royalty in prison?
That bastard even made it sound like the public owed them for ’volunteering’ to serve time for their crimes!
"I’ll give you time to think and prepare what I need, Dujun-ah."
"Why are you assuming that I know what you need?"
"I already told you to stop acting dumb— you have the shaman kid, don’t you?"
Ah, as expected.
Lee Heeju is really after the new shaman.
The one who sent them back in time.
Was that Lee Heeju’s goal?
To have a second chance?
Wonyoung couldn’t help but laugh, and his laughter was loud enough for Lee Heeju to hear.
"Ah, you’re with Bae Wonyoung."
"Heeju Ahjussi, I think I know why you’re desperate to find the kid," Wonyoung said. Since it wouldn’t be easy to send a psycho chaebol to jail, he decided to just piss off Lee Heeju by running his mouth. Hence, he grabbed Yun Dujun’s phone and continued mocking Lee Heeju. "Let me just remind you that even though you managed to kill me in the past, you still weren’t able to win Dujun Hyung’s heart. What makes you think he’ll love in this timeline where Dujun Hyung and I are madly in love with each other?"
Yun Dujun’s face beamed after hearing that, but Wonyoung ignored his husband and just focused on Lee Heeju’s wrath.
"Bae Wonyoung, don’t piss me off—"
"Or what, you’ll kill me? Oh, I’m scared." Wonyoung scoffed. He already died once, so death didn’t scare him anymore. "Hey, Lee Heeju. No matter how many times you turn back time, Dujun Hyung will never fall in love with you. You’ll forever have an unrequited love towards my husband, you pathetic man-child loser."
And then Wonyoung ended the call, not giving Lee Heeju the chance to talk back.
Hah!
That’s refreshing.
Wonyoung extended his hand to Yun Dujun, returning his phone.
But the Alpha simply grabbed his arm and pulled him for a hug.
"Wonyoung-ah, I love you."
Aigoo.
Wonyoung just smiled and patted Yun Dujun’s back. "Yeah, Alphas should at least be this pathetic when in love."
"You just said that out loud, Wonyoung-ah."
"Oops."

"I JUST got a call from the shaman serving Kim Heedo’s family. He sent us an address, telling us to come pick up a wild child he found in a mountain temple."
Wonyoung blinked, processing what Song Sihyuk had just said.
A wild child?
In a mountain temple?
Oh.
He must be talking about the new shaman.
"A child," Wonyoung whispered to himself, and then he turned to An Baekya. "How young are we talking about here?"
"Hyung is probably 12 years old at the moment."
"Around the same age as my son, then," Song Sihyuk said, and then he looked at An Baekya. "So, you know the child you’re looking for?"
An Baekya flinched, and then he nodded meekly.
"You’re scaring the child, Hyung," Lim Garam scolded Song Sihyuk. "From now on, stop talking to kids you just met."
Wonyoung thought An Baekya was acting strange, though.
Baekya isn’t acting— he’s feeling restless for some reason.

IT WAS a distant memory, but An Baekya still remembered it clearly.
The day he met Jeong Semin— the new shaman.
In the original timeline, of course.
"Just to be clear, I didn’t betray the family I’m supposed to serve because I care about you. I actually don’t care whether you live or die, An Baekya."
"Then why are you helping me, Hyung?"
"Because you are related to Bada Hyung," Jeong Semin said, smiling even though his eyes remained cold. "You’ll be more inclined to save your uncle than Bae Wonyoung, and that’s why I’m choosing you over your Omega father-in-law."
That confused An Baekya. "But how are you related to my uncle?"
And that was a question that was left unanswered until the end of the original timeline.
