I Was Forced To Marry The Phoenix Empress

Chapter 231: Abyssal Blackglacial Arts

Chapter 231: Abyssal Blackglacial Arts

As the gold characters started taking shape, both Yi Chen and Gao Zhen were expecting them to resemble the ancient language afterwards.

However, to their surprise, it ended up resembling the common language they both were familiar with, and as a result, their gaze involuntarily started going over the set of imposing words that were written on the black tablet.

"M-Master the Art and the Door Shall Open..." Yi Chen muttered with a frown before locking his eyes with Gao Zhen the next instant.

Her face carried an expression of contemplation, but it was apparent that she was unable to come to an answer.

"What art? And which door is this black tablet even talking about?" Yi Chen pursed his lips and stated with a puzzled expression the next second.

Suddenly, thinking of something, Gao Zhen was about to suggest something, but just then the ground trembled strongly, which made the two of them turn around immediately towards the source of the vibration.

The next instant, they saw a tall door emerging from the ground just a few meters away from them.

It was five meters tall and was completely made up of ice, but unlike the stone tablet, it was entirely white in colour and looked like a dense mass of white ice.

In the middle of the door, there were two hand imprints embedded into the surface.

"So that’s the door..."

Yi Chen muttered in realisation as his eyes fell on the hand imprints on it.

From the information he had just read on the black tablet, it was obvious that the hand imprint was there to test one’s mastery of whatever art it was talking about and would likely unlock the door when that goal was achieved.

"But still...we have no clue about that cultivation art the tablet was talking about..." Yi Chen started turning his head all around as if expecting another wall of ice to emerge from the ground.

However, it didn’t.

"About that..." Gao Zhen tugged at his robes, pointing towards the ice tablet, "I think we should take a look at the other side of the black tablet."

’Yea...how did I not think of that...’ Yi Chen almost smacked his forehead in realisation when he heard her and said, "Good idea. Let’s do that."

With that said, the two of them walked around the tablet, and just like Gao Zhen had guessed, there was a completely different set of words written on this side.

’So much...’ Yi Chen couldn’t help but widen his eyes when his eyes fell on the walls of golden characters that had completely filled the enormous tablet from top to bottom.

Gao Zhen’s eyes immediately started analysing what was written on the tablet with great detail.

As for Yi Chen, instead of going through the huge lines of text first, he decided to check what the status panel said first.

=======STATUS========

Name: Abyssal Blackglacial Arts

Type: Qi Absorption Art [Dark Natured]

Remark: This is only one-tenth of the entire art. [Regenerate: 10,000 EXP]

======================

’...Just one-tenth!’ Yi Chen internally exclaimed while once again glancing at the lines of text which had completely enveloped the black tablet.

’If just ten percent of the art is this much...then just how long would the entirety of it be?’ He thought with a speechless expression.

A few moments later, he put away the status panel with the intention of going through what was written on the stone tablet by himself, but just then, a loud gasp of surprise came from Gao Zhen’s side.

"This! How could this be?!" she exclaimed with eyes full of surprise and disbelief.

"Madam Gao? What’s the matter?" Yi Chen asked as a frown formed on his forehead.

Gao Zhen immediately turned towards him and said with a tone that still carried hints of disbelief, "This thing...it’s a dark-natured Qi Absorption Art!"

Already aware of this matter, Yi Chen feigned a similar expression and asked, "A dark-natured Qi Absorption Art? Something like that even exists?"

Gao Zhen nodded with a contemplative expression and continued, "It’s also my first time hearing something like this. Unlike the dark-natured martial techniques, Qi Absorption Arts are totally unheard of!

Since no human possesses the dark Qi like those demonic beasts, such a Qi absorption Art would have been useless until now, but with this..."

As Gao Zhen completed her words, her eyes hovered over the first few lines she had just gone over. A feeling of eagerness and excitement began to well up in her heart as she did so. [A/N: I’ll be using dark instead of darkness from now on]

Meanwhile, Yi Chen’s brows tightly knitted the moment he heard Gao Zhen’s words, and before she could immerse herself in going over what was written on the table, he asked in a baffled tone.

"Wait...there are dark-natured martial techniques?! Moreover, it’s my first time hearing about dark Qi and its use by the demonic beasts??... And weren’t there only five elements?"

He asked all the questions that formed in his mind the very next instant. He was especially curious regarding this because of the dark attribute he had received after acquiring the True Demon Physique.

All this while he had kept the fact that he possessed a dual nature hidden from Gao Zhen and others, as he was unsure about its linkage with the demons.

Although Gao Zhen and others had never heard about the demons until then, Yi Chen couldn’t be sure that it was the same with everyone around the continent.

It was for this reason that he had chosen to hide it from everyone, but now that he had directly heard the mention of dark Qi from Gao Zhen, a glimmer of hope rose in his heart.

’Won’t I be able to get my hands on these martial techniques in the future and openly use them if things are like this?’ he thought while anxiously waiting for Gao Zhen’s answer.

"Ah, yes..." Gao Zhen opened her mouth in realisation when she heard his series of questions and said with a nod, "In shock, I forgot that Young Master Chen won’t be very familiar with these terms and techniques as you’ve not taken part in any Demonic Beast Subjugation missions yet."

Gao Zhen paused for a second, and, thinking that it would be better for Yi Chen to know everything about it in the current situation, began her explanation.

"Let me explain everything in detail then. It’s like this..."
