I Unintentionally Became Her Kitten

Chapter 6: Rescue the Kitty!

Chapter 6: Rescue the Kitty!

I lived my old life for a few days, mostly undisrupted. People were mean to me, and said rude things, but I wasn’t being a burden to Alisha.

It was back in my alley that things went really wrong.

The dumpster sometimes had food in it and being a bit desperate to eat something, I had climbed in through the side door and was pulling at some of the fresher bags of trash hoping to find somebody’s leftovers but so far there hadn’t been much of anything.

The unfortunate thing about being in that dumpster was I couldn’t hear anything going on outside. The metal echoed all of the bag rustling sounds and my own breathing and all of my own noise back at me while the noise from the alley was blocked out. I didn’t hear the men out there having their discussion until I’d poked my head out of the side and stared right into one of their faces.

The other turned to see me and frowned.

Then there was a light of recognition.

“Ei, isn’t that Alisha’s chick?” the first man asked.

The second looked me up and down, mentally taking away all the dirt and messiness from my time on the streets.

“Yeah, I think it is.” The second man had a harsh foreign accent and folded his arms as the two of them shuffled toward me.

The first man grabbed my shirt as I started to pull back into the dumpster, panicking as I had no idea what these men wanted with me, but was sure it wasn’t anything good. He roughly yanked me out and onto the pavement as the other took his position so I had no escape route out to the street.

They examined me.

“Alisha let ya go, huh?” The first observed.

I pulled away from them but the grip was too strong.

“Does that mean she doesn't care about ya?” He was thinking hard. “But the boss doesn't have to know that, if we bring him your head he'll be impressed.”

I wasn't sure if that would work out quite how he was imagining it but in the moment it didn't matter. They could kill me before they had even thought it through.

“Wait,” the second said. “But if we bring her alive, then he has her to hold for ransom.”

“Oh, that’s a better idea. And I don’t suppose we could have some fun first.” His hand slid along my cheek admiringly. I turned my head and bit at him but he pulled away too fast.

“Easy there, you don’t want to piss us off little girl.” This time he grabbed my chin forcefully and made me look at him. “I think you’ll be satisfying to claim.”

“S’pose she’s a virgin?” the other said. They started to pull me toward the road.

I dug my heels in and struggled, trying to thrash my way out but they were too strong. Out on the street, I saw a crappy car parked just outside the alley and connected the dots. If they got me in there I was gone.

I broke my head free of the assholes grip and managed to bite down on his hand.

He yelled as my teeth dug in until my jaw started to hurt.

“You stupid bitch!” he snarled. His other fist came up and I felt the blow to the side of my head.

I yelped as my vision blacked out a second before swimming back blurrily.

With that, they renewed their effort to get me to the car. My struggles were weaker but as the car came into view I started to say, “no,” and tried to run my feet backward but they were carrying my weight anyway so it did nothing.

“I won’t cooperate,” I repeated and tried to yank my arm free.

“You don’t need to,” was a grumble from the one I’d bitten.

At that moment the black SUV rolled up to a stop in the street and there was just a moment before the back door was thrown open and Alisha appeared. She was angry at the sight of me.

I finally managed to pull free and backed up as the men were frozen, staring at her as she strode up.

Her hand dipped into a purse as she came up and came back with her phone.

I’d never seen her so angry as she hit a few keys then dropped it back away. She stopped just two paces from the men.

A gesture with her hand urged me to come back to her so I slid between them.

Her guard in the car drove off, forcing me to wonder what her plan was or if we were both about to get shanked by these men.

“Ms. Takeno,” the one who had first grabbed me started to say. “We found your pet roaming the streets. We were just going to return her to you.”

Alisha glared at him, then at the other who had the bite mark on his hand.

Then she reached into her purse again and drew out a pistol.

The men started to put their hands up but she pulled the trigger, making me flinch and grab the hem of her shirt as my ears rang. When focus cleared, I saw the body falling to the ground and the blood rapidly leaking from the hole. The other ran. Alisha lowered her pistol as he did so and watched as he reached the end of the alley, where Tye came from around the corner and strong armed him into a head lock and began dragging him back as Alisha waited. Her lips were pulled thin and disdainful as she watched him struggle fruitlessly all the way back to where we stood.

He froze as she came into view and stared down at him.

Tye waited patiently as she made her decision.

“Castrate him and throw him back,” she decided, then leaned down to address the man directly. “You deserve far worse but I’ll be merciful.”

“Wait,” he struggled against Tye, who didn’t seem particularly happy, but began dragging him back in the alley. “No!”

With a sharp jerk Tye yanked him closer and then pulled something from his pocket I recognized as a syringe. He pulled the cap off with his teeth and slid it into the man’s skin, despite the struggling.

A few moments later the man stilled and Tye hefted the limp weight over his shoulder.

Alisha then turned to me.

I shrank away. I went to apologize but stopped myself. Her face was stern and unyielding in a way I couldn’t quite read.

Then she slid the gun back into her purse and sighed before reaching over to pet the top of my head.

“Are you alright?” she asked.

There was a fine spray of red across her face she seemed oblivious to.

“Kitty?”

I reached over intending to gently touch her but ended up with my face buried against her chest.

She pulled me closer as I started to shake. My eyes were hot as the tears came and pushed their way out.

Her voice hushed my softly.

“It’s okay,” she said. “You’re safe now.” A hand pet my hair, gently pushing it away from my face.

The tears came faster and I broke into sobs.

She waited as I calmed down.

Through some gasps I managed to get it out. “I’m so sorry.”

“It’s okay,” she repeated. I felt her shift to look around as she held me then started to guide me toward the street.

Her SUV was parked just a short distance down where Tye had obviously been in a hurry and stopped crooked and way too far from the car in front, but it was parked.

She opened the back door and helped me inside. I sat on the seat and felt the juxtaposition of my filth and this clean place.

Alisha pulled me close after she pulled her own door shut.

I sniffled as she stroked my hair a few times.

“It’s okay, let it out.”

I shook my head. “Are you mad?” I asked.

“No,” she answered. “I understand you were afraid. Staying in that big house.”

“No,” I told her.

“No?” she asked. “What was wrong?”

“I didn’t want to be a burden,” I explained. “You deserve so much better than me and I’m just… me, you know.”

I started to sit up but she calmly pulled me back into her embrace. There was still an acrid and bloody smell that clung to her blouse.

“You’re not a burden to me,” she reassured. “And I try not to view people based on their current life situation.”

“But I’m just me,” I repeated and pulled free. “I’m homeless and dirty and— poor.”

She frowned at me. “Those are all situational things,” she explained. “They have nothing to do with who you are as a person.”

“So?” I managed and rubbed at my eyes. They were burning now and surely red and puffy.

“I care about you,” she emphasized. “You, not your money.”

I sniffled again. “Are you sure?”

“Of course I’m sure,” she said. “You’re the most incredibly cute person I’ve met and I can tell you have such a big heart in there, too.” She ran her fingers through my hair. “And you’re suffering so much I just want to make things easier for you.”

“You’re not going to sell me as a sex slave?” I asked. “When you get bored of me.”

The look on her face told me everything I needed to know. She was genuinely angry at the question, but sighed and rubbed the furrow out of her brow. “I would never do that to you. I wouldn’t do that to my worst enemy, even, it’s disgusting.”

My heart slowed a little.

“You promise?” I asked.

“I swear it,” she reassured.

I leaned over into her embrace and did my best to hug her back.

“Now, do you want to come home with me?” she asked. “I will never force you to, but I do like having you around.”

I nodded and pressed against her a little more, wanting to get more of that comfort from her.

A few moments later Tye opened the driver door and climbed in, wiping blood off his hands.

I stared for a long moment, remembering that Alisha had just murdered a man. With a start I looked at her face and saw there was still that fine blood spatter there.

Tye turned to address her.

“We should go,” she explained. “Cleanup will be here shortly so we should clear out.”

“Understood,” he said and started the car.

He then drove us away from the scene.
