I Transmigrated as a Villainess to Raise Babies, and My Beast Husbands Are Fighting Madly Over Me!

Chapter 135: Don’t Scare Me

Chapter 135: Don’t Scare Me

The patch of Red Heart Fruits was by a creek—the same one that ran through the tribe’s lands.

The moment Qiao Xixi arrived, she saw a large expanse of Red Heart Fruit vines.

"This is the place."

"Everyone, start digging."

The beastmen who had come along all bent their heads and began to dig for Red Heart Fruits.

Qiao Xixi went to the water’s edge and noticed one Red Heart Fruit vine that was much larger than the others. As she crouched down, curious, and prepared to dig, a dark shadow in the water slowly swam over.

While Qiao Xixi was focused on digging up the Red Heart Fruit, the dark shadow suddenly burst from the water, baring its fangs and lunging at her.

Qiao Xixi was startled. Before she could even react, a flash of white shot over and punched the massive Mutated Black Fish Beast right on the head.

The enraged Mutated Black Fish Beast thrashed about, slapping the surface of the water. A huge splash hit Qiao Xixi, and she lost her balance, tumbling into the creek.

"Xixi!"

Feiyan’s expression changed. He leaped in and pulled Qiao Xixi into his arms.

"Young Clan Leader!"

Hearing the commotion, Ma Qing immediately rushed over with several male Three-Star Beast Souls.

The water was the Mutated Black Fish Beast’s domain. It opened its cavernous mouth and bit at Feiyan.

Holding Qiao Xixi, Feiyan swam toward the bank with incredible speed.

Ma Qing and the others reached the bank. Just as they were about to jump in to help, a Mutated Black Bear Beast suddenly charged out of the woods.

The males who had been digging Red Heart Fruits immediately sprang into action and began fighting the Mutated Black Bear Beast.

Underwater, Qiao Xixi held her breath. She opened her eyes to see the Mutated Black Fish Beast swimming toward them.

Feiyan, still holding her, quickly dodged to the side and punched the beast.

The Mutated Black Fish Beast reeled from the pain. It spun around, its massive tail sweeping toward them.

Feiyan turned, shielding Qiao Xixi in his arms. As the Mutated Black Fish Beast attacked again, his hand transformed into sharp claws, and he plunged them into its eye.

With its eye grievously injured, the Mutated Black Fish Beast writhed in agony, turned, and fled.

Feiyan seized the opportunity to bring Qiao Xixi to shore.

"Xixi, how are you? Are you okay?"

At that moment, Qiao Xixi went completely limp in Feiyan’s arms, her eyes shut tight. She had fainted.

An unprecedented panic rose in Feiyan’s heart. This panic terrified him more than facing death itself.

"Xixi, don’t scare me..." Not daring to delay for a second, Feiyan picked up Qiao Xixi and ran toward where Qiaoqiao and the others were.

His movements were swift, yet surprisingly steady.

Jin Ling was digging for Red Heart Fruits with the three cubs, his gaze constantly scanning their surroundings. When he suddenly saw Feiyan running toward them with Qiao Xixi in his arms, he shot to his feet.

"Qiaoqiao, quick, check on your mother! What’s wrong with her?"

Qiao Qiao was struggling to pull a Red Heart Fruit out of the ground. Hearing Feiyan’s words, she plopped right down on her bottom, but she quickly scrambled back up.

"What happened to Mother?"

Jin Ling’s expression changed as well. "Xixi! What happened?"

"I failed to protect Xixi. She fell into the water and was attacked by the Mutated Black Fish Beast. She hasn’t woken up since we got back on shore. Qiaoqiao, hurry and heal your mother."

Qiaoqiao was very calm. She didn’t sense any aura of death on her mother, so she wasn’t afraid.

"There there, Father-beast, don’t be scared. Mother will be fine." She mimicked Qiao Xixi’s way of speaking to comfort her own father, who looked like he was about to cry.

Qiaoqiao’s small hand grasped Qiao Xixi’s. A warm, blue-white light gradually enveloped Qiao Xixi.

A moment later, the halo of light slowly dissipated, and Qiao Xixi groggily came to.

"Xixi, you’re awake."

Qiao Xixi opened her eyes and looked in astonishment at the worried-looking Feiyan. She only remembered falling into the water, being attacked by the Mutated Black Fish Beast, and then Feiyan jumping in to protect her.

’Then... did I hit Feiyan’s shoulder... and pass out?’

Qiao Xixi frowned in self-disgust. ’I actually fainted just like that? If word gets out, I’ll die of embarrassment.’

"I’m fine."

Jin Ling took Qiao Xixi from Feiyan’s arms. "Your clothes are soaked. I’ll take you back to change. It’s cold out, don’t get sick."

Feiyan opened his mouth but said nothing as he watched her.

"Alright, let’s go back first."

Qiao Xixi wanted the cubs to go back with her, but Qiao Ang spoke up first. "Mother, you go back first. We’ll go back with Father-beast later."

Feiyan finally found a chance to speak. "I’ll protect the cubs."

Seeing that the cubs were determined to stay and finish their task, Qiao Xixi didn’t insist. "Okay, but you have to be careful. There are still Mutant Beasts out there."

"Okay, Mother."

Feiyan watched Qiao Xixi leave, his gaze lingering for a long time.

"We’re doomed. Mother isn’t going to be mad at our dumb Father-beast, is she?" Qiao Ang’s little face was clouded with a worry that seemed too mature for him.

Qiaoqiao’s delicate little eyebrows furrowed in consternation. "Of course she’ll be mad. Our dumb Father-beast didn’t protect Mother properly. He made such a huge mistake on his first try."

Qiao Ang shook his head, dejected. "Then forget it. A Father-beast who can’t protect Mother isn’t a good Father-beast."

Feiyan was speechless.

Feiyan crouched down and took Qiao Qiao’s small hand. "Qiaoqiao, you’re the smartest. Quick, tell Father-beast, what can I do to make your mother not angry?"

Qiao Qiao pulled her hand away, cupped Feiyan’s face, and examined it from every angle before sighing helplessly.

This made Feiyan anxious. "What is it, my good cub? Hurry up and tell me."

"Oh, whatever. You’re my dad."

Qiao Qiao leaned close to Feiyan’s ear and whispered a torrent of words, leaving him completely stunned.

「Two days had passed since she fell into the water.」

She hadn’t left the courtyard, staying home to make roasted Red Heart Fruit slices and some roasted fish jerky. She wanted to trade these items in the tribe for some beast hides to make new clothes.

Qiao Qiao and Qiao Ang knew she was going out today, so they were ready early in the morning.

"Father-beast Jin Ling, let’s go too," Qiao Lie said, walking up to Jin Ling.

Jin Ling looked at Qiao Xixi, still worried. "Xixi, are you sure you don’t need me to go with you?"

Qiao Xixi smiled. "Didn’t you promise to take Qiao Lie to catch fish-beasts? Gu Man and her beastman husbands are waiting outside. You don’t need to worry about us."

The tribe was indeed relatively safe now, with two or three patrols on duty every day, so Jin Ling didn’t insist.

"Alright, be careful then. Come back as soon as you’ve traded for the beast hides."

"Okay, no problem."

Jin Ling left with Qiao Lie, heading for the creek. After they were gone, Qiao Xixi packed her things into a bamboo basket and went out.

"Xixi, we’re over here."

Gu Man was waiting not far from the courtyard.

Behind Gu Man were Bu Xi and Lu Lin. They both greeted Qiao Xixi enthusiastically when they saw her.

"The family we’re going to trade hides with today lives a bit far. It’ll take us a while to get there."

Qiao Xixi didn’t mind. "That’s fine. It’ll be good to get some exercise. I’ve been getting cabin fever staying at home these past two days."

Qiao Ang, Qiaoqiao, and Tata followed behind the two women, holding hands.

"Xixi, you’re really amazing," Gu Man said suddenly.

Qiao Xixi was a little curious why she was suddenly praising her again. "Why do you say that?"
