I Save The World In A Doomsday Text Game

Chapter (1)

Chapter (1)

Three days passed in the blink of an eye, and the coronation ceremony of the First Disciple was held as scheduled.

When the mid level Apostles learned that Eleventh Disciple Amos and Twelfth Disciple Cain were the winners of this Disciple War, they were utterly flabbergasted.

Strictly speaking, it was Lord Cain, the Twelfth Disciple, who had fought his way up from the lowest ranked seat all the way to the position of First Disciple, while Amos was merely a firm supporter following in Lord Cain’s wake.

After the coronation ceremony was held, Lin Xun’s Book of Letters was practically stuffed to bursting.

There were greetings from the Elders Council, flattery brought by Templar Knights, and the active attempts to pledge allegiance from some candidate Disciple seed players. The number of people trying to hug his thigh was simply countless.

Lin Xun could not be bothered to pay attention to these candidate Disciples.

The candidate Disciples wanted Lord Cain to act as an angel investor, pouring Spirit Essence into them as investment.

But what kind of person was Lin Xun? Those who tried to scam Spirit Essence from him had either not yet been born or were already dead.

Even if he spent a massive amount of Spirit Essence to support a few Disciples in rising to high rank, by the time the next Disciple War began, he might already have become a Saint.

Lin Xun had no time to waste on power struggles. Rather than exhausting his time and resources training successor Disciples, it was better to hurry up and increase his own strength. All those seemingly lofty powers were granted by the Master. As long as the Master wished to take them back, he could kick Lin Xun down from the peak of power at any time.

Only the strength in his own hands was truly reliable.

After the coronation ceremony, Lin Xun received a major piece of good news.

“Lin Xun, your legendary divine item has arrived.”

On the other end of the phone, Li Long sounded relieved. This kid Lin Xun had completed most of the plan ahead of schedule and rendered such huge service, yet Li Long had been slow to hand over the divine item he was owed.

It made him feel like he could not hold his head up, as if he owed the great contributor something.

“Wow, Uncle Li, you’ve gone to a lot of trouble. I’m really too grateful.”

When he heard this cheeky youngster’s happy tone, Li Long could not help smiling as well.

“This legendary grade divine item was given to me by Director Wang, one of the nine Directors of the Council. Originally, this divine item was meant for his junior.”

“But right now, your priority comes first. Director Wang is willing to let the divine item be allocated to me for you ahead of time.”

“This is a colossal favor, but you don’t need to worry. I will repay it on your behalf.”

With Li Long’s deliberate concealment, Lin Xun was effectively a transparent person within the organization. Aside from Li Long as his superior, very few knew of his existence.

Lin Xun was deeply moved. “Uncle Li, do you happen to be short of an adopted son? Xun has drifted half his life in desolation, regretting only that he has not met an enlightened lord. If you do not despise me, Xun is willing to take you as foster father…”

“Enough, enough, knock it off.”

Although Li Long said ‘knock it off,’ the corners of his mouth rose unconsciously. He genuinely liked this junior with boundless potential from the bottom of his heart.

Reality had proved that Li Xingyue’s eye for people was indeed unique.

“Uncle Li, I have a question. What is the strength level of our Council’s Directors?”

Li Long pondered for a moment. There was no need to hide it from one of his own. “The strength of the nine Directors is about the same as the Saints of the New World. They are all great figures who have achieved the immortal realm.”

“Although they have not reached the level of top pseudo gods, they are still among the very peak of the countless Apostles.”

Lin Xun immediately understood. If the nine Directors were immortal grade, then Vice-Chairman Li Long should be immortal plus grade.

He had heard there was another Vice-Chairman in the Council, but that Vice-Chairman seemed to have quite a bit of friction with Li Long.

The nine Directors were not as harmonious internally as they appeared on the surface. There were various factions among them, and open and hidden struggles were inevitable.

“Lin Xun, you don’t need to worry about me. Over there in the New World, you already need to keep your nerves taut at every moment. As for the turmoil in the organization… leave all that to me.”

Li Long understood what Lin Xun was thinking. This kid wanted to use his hidden-in-the-dark status to help remove some of the obstacles in Li Long’s path.

“You only need to focus on tackling the game and working to become stronger. Do not let down the hopes I have placed on you.”

“Got it, Uncle Li, don’t worry. If anything comes up, just call on me. Don’t be shy about it. I went to Wen City not long ago and just met Team Leader Li…”

“You brat… remember to go to the Book of Letters and accept the item.”

“Alright.”

As Li Long scolded him with a smile and ended the call, he could not hide the trace of joy on his face. “Young people should indeed be this free and unrestrained.”

“Only young people like this can break free from the shackles of rules and carve out a path different from everyone else’s…”

Knock, knock, knock.

Someone knocked on the office door.

“Come in.”

His secretary walked in with a notice file in hand and spoke softly, “Chairman Li, the Chief Chairman has issued a directive. The battle situation at the Security Council’s Britain branch is urgent. You are requested to dispatch Director Wang abroad to assist in support.”

Without a change in expression, Li Long accepted the red headed document stamped with a seal and read it carefully.

The smile on his face did not fade, but his gaze gradually turned cold.

On the other end, Lin Xun clicked on the Book of Letters to check the attached items sent to him.

[Vulcan’s Abandoned Slag (legendary grade item): Slag scooped out of the great fire god Vulcan’s forge. It is the molten residue that forms on the surface of metal and other liquids during pyrometallurgy.]

[The slag has an irregular, extremely ugly shape, much like Vulcan himself. Years of forging and smelting have caused the furnace slag to be contaminated with the divinity of this god of fire and craftsmen… that incomplete and hideous fragment of divinity.]

[Use this item to gain 1 point of divinity.]

For items like this, the probability of obtaining them from monsters was extremely low.

Aside from that time Lin Xun farmed Veiled Aberrations in the World of Omniscience, most of the remaining divine items he had obtained were not from farming monsters.

For example, the divine item obtained by prying gems off the Corrupting Blood Sun sculptures in the Blood Sun world, the divine item he got in the Evil God world beneath the Idyllic Pleasure Quarter, and the divinity he received in the Firefly Spirit Temple in the Firefly world.

Most of an Apostle’s divine items came from opening chests or obtaining them accidentally, and all of them were random with no fixed pattern.

Take the Blood Sun world he had gone through, for instance. If a different Apostle had been the one to clear it, they might not necessarily encounter the Blood Sun Gem at the top of the initial tower.

The divine item in that chapter might have been hidden somewhere else, or it might not have spawned at all.

Only the World of Omniscience, a place that seemed eccentric even among Hell Chapters, allowed divine items to drop steadily from ordinary monsters.

Lin Xun felt there had to be some secret hidden in this, one he simply did not yet know.

Once he entered the World of Omniscience again, he might be able to solve the mystery and then farm a large number of divine items to once more improve his soul talent.

That was one of his goals in wanting to re-enter the World of Omniscience.

[You used Vulcan’s Abandoned Slag (legendary grade item).]

[You gained 1 point of divinity.]

Lin Xun opened his panel and saw that a long-lost plus sign had finally appeared again behind his soul talent.

“It wasn’t easy, but I finally waited you out…”
