He planned to observe the situation and, if one side began to falter, lend his support to ensure that both factions of behemoths perished heroically in the fight.
He had not expected a behemoth to suddenly decide to set its sights on him.
However, he did not choose to meet it head-on, but rather to evade the battle.
The strength of the Veiled Aberration Overlord was beyond doubt. If this behemoth joined the fighting, it could further increase the chances of the overlord’s defeat.
He hoped that his choice to retreat would make this behemoth reconsider and return to join its kin in the heroic struggle.

He had the combat strength to take down behemoths one by one, but whether he could defeat a heavily wounded Veiled Aberration Overlord was still uncertain.

Lin Xun grimaced in pain. He would have preferred the loot to be reversed.

[The four behemoths had the numerical edge but were completely unable to match the overlord’s terrifying strength.]
[You watched as yet another behemoth was caught and crushed in those massive tentacles, on the verge of death…]
[If no other factors intervened, it was only a matter of time before the Veiled Aberration Overlord wiped out all four behemoths.]
[Once they were all slain, it would devour their corpses to grow stronger, and perhaps become a being you would never be able to defeat!]
[Faced with a battle about to become hopelessly one-sided, what will you do?]
[1. Help the Knowledge-Seeking Veiled Aberrations…]
[2. Help the Veiled Aberration Overlord…]
[3. Aid neither side, hoping to reap the spoils…]
Once more, the familiar three options popped up before him.
‘Reap what? Reap a hammer…’
At this point, Lin Xun could only select the first option.
“First knock down the Veiled Aberration Overlord, then clean up the remaining behemoths!”
[You raised your staff and began chanting incantations…]
[The Battle Angel – Valkyrie drew her longbow, closing her eyes as a snow-white vortex gathered on the arrow’s tip…]

[Starlight and arrow struck the hulking creature together. A shrill, ragged howl split the mist as torrents of blood cascaded like waterfalls.]
[Seeing the Veiled Aberration Overlord suffer grievous wounds, the four behemoths charged it again in unison…]
[The Veiled Aberration Overlord ignored the four behemoths’ attacks and charged straight toward you!]
[That suffocating aura bore down on you once more. The titanic form that blotted out the sky hurtled forward, its thunderous steps and the gale of wind screaming at you that your Knowledge Barrier alone could never withstand its assault!]
Lin Xun hadn’t expected the Veiled Aberration Overlord to abandon the four behemoths and rush straight at him.
“Damn it, is this OT (aggro loss)? Those four behemoths are such trash, they can’t even hold it back.”
Lin Xun felt as though a giant red ‘TRASH’ was flashing before his eyes.
[Just as you were at death’s door, the Battle Angel – Valkyrie scooped you up and shot skyward, narrowly evading the charging behemoth.]
[The Veiled Aberration Overlord abruptly accelerated again, its speed surging another notch.]
[Even the Valkyrie’s flight couldn’t shake it off. Perhaps if she abandoned your body’s weight, she could ascend higher and fly faster to evade the pursuit.]
[You looked back to see the monstrous form already looming close behind. You could even make out the dense clusters of enormous black eyes on parts of its body and smell the foul, stinging stench it gave off.]
[Several massive tentacles whipped toward you…]
[The tentacles strained to their limits, taut and just out of reach, but with each thunderous charge, they drew closer and closer…]
[Watching those hideous tentacles and the slimy filth dripping from them inch ever nearer, you realized… you were about to die!]
[O self-sacrificing Apostle, will you command the Battle Angel – Valkyrie to abandon you and escape alone?]
