I Save The World In A Doomsday Text Game

Chapter 138-2: The Administrator’s Special Quest – Celestial Prison (2)

Chapter 138-2: The Administrator’s Special Quest – Celestial Prison (2)

He moved on to the next item.

[Key to the Treasure Chest (Key): A key made of refined copper, used to unlock a corresponding treasure chest.]

Lin Xun had already scoured floors one through three of the Astrologer Tower, no treasure chest in sight.

That meant the treasure chest had to be on the fourth floor!

He immediately began digging through every corner…

But after a long search, all he found was another Book Containing Trace Knowledge.

Lin Xun frowned. If there was no chest on the fourth floor, then where was it?

Unwilling to give up, he searched for quite some time, but it was clear, there really was no treasure chest on this floor.

He had no choice but to leave reluctantly.

He took the elevator back to the third floor to meet the Librarian.[Seeing your triumphant return and the fact that you obtained the Key to the Treasure Chest, the Librarian gave a slight nod and told you there is a hidden area within the Astrologer Tower…]

[The Astrologer Grandmaster – Shamara’s treasure chest is concealed there. Once you discover the hidden area and unlock the treasure chest, he will explain how the special quest works.]

So the treasure chest was in a hidden area, that explained why he couldn’t find it on the fourth floor.

Lin Xun furrowed his brow in thought.

He had already cleared all four floors of the Astrologer Tower… so where exactly was this so-called hidden area?

He spoke to the Librarian again.

[The Librarian tilted his chin slightly, indicating you should find the hidden area yourself. He wouldn’t tell you. If you couldn’t locate it, it just meant you were too dumb to take on the special quest.]

Good grief, getting mocked for being stupid by an NPC, this really was a first for Lin Xun.

He returned to the elevator and went back to the first floor of the Astrologer Tower to begin searching again.

From the first floor to the fourth, then from the fourth back to the first, he searched the entire tower twice over and still didn’t find any so-called hidden area.

“Don’t tell me that old bastard Librarian was lying to me? Maybe there’s no hidden area in this tower at all.”

Unable to find anything, Lin Xun started to suspect the Librarian was playing him.

He prepared to head to the third floor and confront the guy.

[You step into the elevator. Battle Angel – Valkyrie follows closely behind.]

[You pull the lever. With the clanking of gears and the turning of hinges, the elevator begins to ascend slowly…]

[The elevator rises past the floor between the first and second levels. With the open car, you can clearly see the gap, each floor’s stonework is as thick as half a shell’s body…]

[The elevator arrives at the second floor and comes to a slow stop…]

Staring at the game text, a flash of inspiration struck Lin Xun.

The elevator car was open. What would happen if he jumped out while it was still rising?

No sooner thought than done. He operated the elevator to return to the first floor.

Then he pulled the lever once more.

[You pull the lever. With the clanking of gears and the turning of hinges, the elevator begins to ascend slowly…]

[The elevator slowly rises…]

Now!

Lin Xun quickly clicked the return option.

[You jump out of the rising elevator and return to the first floor of the Astrologer Tower.]

[Battle Angel – Valkyrie stared at you in a daze, as if she couldn’t believe you would do something so against all logic.]

[The elevator continued upward, soon taking Battle Angel – Valkyrie to the second floor of the tower.]

Valkyrie had reacted half a beat too slow and hadn’t kept up with Lin Xun’s pace.

Not that it mattered, he could just summon her again, and she’d return to his side.

He went to the spot where the elevator had just been.

[The elevator has risen to the second floor, leaving behind an elevator shaft that leads to the Astrologer Tower’s B1 floor.]

[Would you like to jump into the shaft and enter the B1 floor of the Astrologer Tower?]

Just as he thought!

There had been no option to descend to B1 via elevator.

Only by jumping out of the rising elevator mid-ride could one access the hidden shaft leading down.

[With the clanking of gears and the turning of hinges, the elevator begins to descend…]

Would Valkyrie actually operate the elevator herself and come back down to find him?

Seeing the elevator descending and about to block the shaft.

Lin Xun instantly selected the jump-in option.

[You leap forward and dive into the shaft…]

[Your feet hit the ground. A mere five to six meter drop poses no threat to your robust body.]

[You have arrived at the Astrologer Tower’s B1 floor…]

[The glow of kerosene lamps illuminates the hall. Amidst the neatly arranged desks sits a gold, half-man-tall treasure chest.]

[You approach slowly. The surface of the golden chest is engraved with countless shimmering stars. The chest itself looks incredibly valuable, let alone the treasures inside.]

[However, the chest is sealed shut by an extremely sturdy bronze lock. Without the corresponding key, it cannot be opened.]

[Would you like to open the chest?]

Lin Xun pulled out his greatclub and gave the chest a good whack to make sure it wasn’t a mimic. Satisfied, he continued.

[You take out the Key to the Treasure Chest and insert it into the bronze lock. With a slight twist, the lock opens.]

[You open the chest…]

[A burst of grayish-white smoke sprays out. You choke on the cloud and cough violently, dizziness overtakes you, and you collapse to the ground.]

?

A question mark popped up in Lin Xun’s mind.

What the hell was this?

Have treasure mimics gone out of style, and now we’re doing treasure traps instead?

[Just before losing consciousness, you glimpsed strange starlight glimmering within the chest, drawing you into it…]

[…]

The game text froze there.

Lin Xun tried opening his shell panel to switch shells.

[You are currently in a transfer state. Shell possession is not possible!]

???

He slowly typed out three question marks.

Transfer state?

He was sucked into the treasure chest… and transported, transported where?

[A wandering soul awakens in an ancient prison cell…]

[You have entered the Celestial Prison of Captive Stars!]
