I Reincarnated as The Protagonist's Best Friend

Chapter 19: Improving Together

Chapter 19: Improving Together

The next day, everyone was resting after intense calisthenics. It was evening. Around them, few groups were trying to copy them. Few gym bros felt irritated and wanted to drive them away bit Quash had stopped them before they could.

This was a public place, people can do whatever they want. Besides, he never denied them of joining. It was their fault that they think they are neglected and unwanted child for no reason.

This side of the park has started to become increasingly more bustling. The park was very big. But nearly half of the students have gathered around here and were secretly trying to copy what the loner group was doing without understanding much of what was going on.

They have noticed the explosive growth in the group. But they felt an unreasonable loyalty and pride towards their own group, keeping them from actively joining the loner group. There were a matter of social standing and jealousy as well.

The training group people joins in is the one they go to the Academy City with. That’s why joining group is much an improvement matter to them.

Just because they don’t want to be left out. But some now regretted not joining the loner group. Their growth was too obvious. Even though their leaders tried to copy them, without a fundamental understanding of what the exercises were for and what they will result in, it was just like shadow boxing.

They also heard rumours that the loner group leader teaches them many things. They have even heard that he even shared his family secret techniques with the loner group!

Every time they think of such missed opportunity, their hurt churns in pain and they want to do nothing else other then to cry in a corner.

It was the Ogmore family technique for fucks sake! The family of the Grundleas Protector! Why would the loners get such a cool leader while they were stuck with jealous loons who couldn’t even get their shits together!?

Life was unfair. But they can do nothing but swallow the pain in their churning heart. Group dynamics were a terrifying thing. They would be sure to stick to some strong thigh if they managed to get into Academy City.

But at the moment, some brave soul within them snapped and walked out. Cursing the brainless grind. He approached the loner group to join.

But everyone was sure he would be rejected because the group dynamics have already been established. There is no way he would be accepted now. With all the rumours going, it seemed like the Protectors Grandson was forging his own loyal army.

The dude who just walked out of a fairly large group walked towards the loner group with trepidating heart. Sweat forming involuntarily from nervousness. The loner group was looking at him. The invisible pressure from a bunch of guys pressing heavily on him. It was clear that within a short amount of time, the loner group have somehow managed to surpass the average of this city.

He was ready to beg if needed. He arrived near them and stopped. He gulped before starting to speak with a shaky voice.

"H-Hey guys... can I join your group as well? You know I ca-"

"Sure."

Everyone: "Huh?"

When the newcomer had asked to join, they didn’t voice there opinion despite their willingness to tell that person to fuck of.

But before they could finish their thoughts, and the newcomer could finish his speech, Quash agreed.

They turned to look at him with an expression of disbelief because they had thought he would refuse because getting someone new in could ruin the group dynamics.

And he could a spy from other group as well. To learn their secrets.

But when they thought about actions of Quash, it didn’t seem very out of character for him to accept a new person. Just like he did to them. He had no reason to help them but he did, and was still helping them improve.

Never in their life had they improved so fast. And now that they thought about it, their growth was very obvious and people will generally want what’s best for them. So coming to their group wasn’t so out of context. They felt slightly guilty for trying to hord all the benefits for themselves while Quash wanted everyone to improve.

Their respect for him increased even further. And to shake of their slightly guilty feeling, they actively welcomed the newcomer, making him a bit flustered but smile in gratitude.

The other groups looked at this scene. The group leaders panicked a bit internally. Because forming a training group wasn’t just useful here, if they got into Academy City as a group, they would have a massive advantage of numbers and they could collect recourses faster. But it seemed the Protectors Grandson had been cooking some grand plan to destabilise all the groups.

Why? They didn’t know. But he wasn’t a normal person. He had taken in bunch of loners with low talent and humble background and tunred them into a disciplined milita within a matter of days. His plan could be anything but simple.

And as they have expected, the scene of a new member joining the loner group delt a heavy blow to their group members mentality. They were thinking of stepping out as well.

They felt they needed to do something so thy ordered everyone to train even harder. They shouted motivational quotes to boost morals and cement their loyalty ot their group.

Back with the loner group. They are done with greeting the newcomer. And with Quash’s permission, they told about all the things Quash had shared with them. Disbelief was written all over his face. He wondered if they were trolling him but seeing their serious expression, he felt like he could believe them foe now.

Quash on the other hand took out a blind fold and put it on with a smile. His Proprioception activating.

"Alright everyone! Call me Daddy Gojo from now on! Let’s go training!!"

He said excitedly but seeing the blank expression, he felt embarrassed and took the blind fold off and went to train on his own murmuring they no fun. The members of loner group looked at each other and couldn’t help but shake their head.

Elders say geniuses have something wrong with their head, and it seemed like a true thing. But regardless, they, along with the newcomer, stood up and started their evening drill.
