Chapter 438: The Thunder Release: Rasengan, Rending Sky’s Enchanted Blue Radian
Chapter 438: The Thunder Release: Rasengan, Rending Sky’s Enchanted Blue Radian
After establishing the Trade Alliance, the Five Kage Summit did not continue. They had already met for three days, discussed everything that needed discussion, and the alliance’s formation was decided. The summit officially concluded.
Following the summit, Nagasawa did not let Konoha boast about it across the shinobi world. Instead, they released vague news stating that the Five Great Shinobi Villages had reached a consensus on peace and that the world would soon enter a new era of harmony. It was also hinted that closer cooperation among the villages might occur.
While the Five Great Shinobi Villages are the most potent forces in the shinobi world, they are not in their entirety. There are still smaller villages and various ninja organisations. Even the underground black market paid close attention to this summit, considering it was only the second one in history. The first summit had established Konoha’s dominance, ushering in peace through sheer military might.
Now, with another summit convened, significant changes were expected, potentially reshaping the shinobi world. The smaller villages were particularly puzzled. They had thought the leaders were there for the Chūnin Exams, yet suddenly, the Mizukage was present, and the summit began without warning.
People were naturally curious about the discussions during the summit. Before Konoha released any information, some speculated it might be another peace talk, predicting a new period of tranquillity. However, this notion was not widespread, as many believed Konoha’s current strength did not match its early days when it had outliers like Uchiha Madara and Senju Hashirama. Achieving peace seemed far more challenging now.
However, with Konoha’s announcement, a new name began circulating in the shinobi world: Fujiwara Nagasawa, Konoha’s Assistant Hokage. Those who attended the Chūnin Exams had witnessed Nagasawa’s overwhelming power against the giant summoning beast. His attacks seemed to destroy everything in their path, causing widespread devastation.
These observers included wealthy merchants and nobles from various countries, including minor and significant nations. The nobles often shared information with their respective ninja villages. Seeing such a powerful ninja, they promptly relayed this information. The merchants, too, used the incident as a talking point, inadvertently spreading Nagasawa’s reputation.
Although Nagasawa hadn’t fought any renowned ninjas, his name became well-known. Some sceptics, mainly young ninjas from smaller villages, doubted the accuracy of these exaggerated stories. They believed the reports were embellished and questioned the true strength of the colossal summoning beast.
In Konoha’s Hokage office, Minato sat comfortably, sipping tea, and playfully remarked, "Nagasawa, you’ve become quite famous in the shinobi world. I’ve heard some call you the second God of Shinobi, the strongest in the world, the new God of Shinobi."
"What kind of title is ’second God of Shinobi’? It sounds awful. I’d prefer something like ’the fastest in the shinobi world’ like yours," Nagasawa sighed, standing by the large window.
"How about I come up with a cool title for you and spread it around?" Minato suggested enthusiastically, a thoughtful look on his face.
"The last thing I need is that," Nagasawa said with a deadpan expression.
Minato’s titles were notoriously over-the-top. Imagining himself being called something like "Blade of the Golden Sun Devouring the Heavens" made Nagasawa cringe. He preferred not to draw such attention.
"Don’t you think the names I come up with are cool?" Minato asked, feeling slightly defensive.
Nagasawa imagined Minato’s titles. If Minato named his new technique, it would be something equally absurd.
"I’d bet you’d call it something like ’Ruler of the Golden Sun, Bringer of Light and Destruction’," Nagasawa said coldly.
"How did you know?" Minato looked genuinely surprised. "Though I was thinking of something more like ’Golden Radiance of the Heavens’."
"Do you see the difference? If I were called that, I wouldn’t have the courage to show my face," Nagasawa said, shaking his head.
"I think it sounds really cool," Minato pondered. He genuinely believed his names were significant.
"Thank goodness your title came from the battlefield and not from your own imagination," Nagasawa muttered, thinking of the alternative.
Imagining a war scenario with Minato shouting his self-proclaimed title made Nagasawa cringe. It would ruin the tense atmosphere entirely.
"Minato, just give up. Even though you’re the Hokage, you can’t deny you’re terrible at naming things," Nagasawa advised.
"I disagree. Whether a name is good or bad is subjective," Minato insisted.
Nagasawa sighed, feeling that Minato was beyond help in this regard. With his knack for creating dramatic names, perhaps Minato would make a great teacher for middle schoolers.
"Speaking of jutsu names, I’ve made some progress on the Rasengan nature transformation I mentioned before," Minato said, changing the subject. He formed a Rasengan in his hand.
The pure chakra sphere spun in his hand, glowing with potential.
Rasengan was technically an incomplete jutsu, unlike Chidori, which required the Sharingan’s visual acuity. Rasengan could be developed further through the transformation of nature. If pure chakra could cause such damage, adding elemental nature would devastate it—a potentially forbidden jutsu.
Minato’s eyes focused intently, and blue lightning crackled around his hand, enveloping the Rasengan.
"Is this Rasengan with lightning nature transformation?" Nagasawa asked, impressed.
"Yes, I call it ’Thunder Release: Rasengan, Rending Sky’s Enchanted Blue Radiance!’" Minato announced proudly.
Nagasawa’s expression twitched at the elaborate name. Perhaps Kushina should take over naming things.
"This technique has incredible offensive power and piercing ability due to the lightning nature. It’s the strongest offensive jutsu I have," Minato explained.
"I tested it on a piece of chakra alloy you gave me. It cut through it easily," Minato added.
"Chakra alloy is no joke. Even my Rasengan could only scratch it," Nagasawa noted.
Chakra alloy was notoriously brutal and, heavy and difficult to process. It was used to test the power of various techniques.
Minato nodded. "I can only use this jutsu twice in battle while maintaining my combat effectiveness."
Minato’s chakra reserves were substantial, enough to qualify for Sage Mode training. Even so, this technique’s chakra cost was enormous.
"This jutsu will help against high-level opponents, like the Raikage," Nagasawa praised.
Minato could handle even the most formidable enemies with his mobility, and now he has this powerful jutsu. Compared to most of the other Kage, he was almost unbeatable.
Minato’s combat style was straightforward yet highly effective. He would appear suddenly, strike decisively, and the enemy would fall. During the Third Shinobi World War, he earned his reputation as a relentless reaper.
However, his Rasengan struggled against defenses like the Raikage’s. Now, with the enhanced Thunder Release Rasengan, he had a solution for high-level threats.
"No matter how strong, I still can’t compare to you," Minato said, recalling Nagasawa’s god-like presence.
"But I’ll keep trying. If you stop improving, I might just catch up to you," Minato teased.
"I look forward to that day," Nagasawa replied, gazing out over Konoha with a smile.
He was bound to Konoha’s prosperity and strength. If everyone had Minato’s attitude, Konoha would thrive, as would his system points.
