I’m a Rebel in Another World

Chapter 12: Your Path Forward, Walk It Alone!

Chapter 12: Your Path Forward, Walk It Alone!

Unfortunately, because of Kavizé's gray-white hair, he alone attracted seven or eight cavalrymen chasing after him.

However, Kavizé's skills were truly impressive. He grabbed the large bow from his saddle, turned around and leaned back against the horse's head.

Holding the large bow in his left hand with three arrows already nocked along the bow's body, he drew and released one arrow with his right hand.

His left fingers deftly flicked, and the arrow parallel to the bow body was instantly placed on the reset bowstring.

After firing four arrows in rapid succession, four of the pursuing cavalrymen fell from their horses accordingly.

But after this round of rapid shooting, the remaining four cavalrymen were prepared and immediately spurred their horses to spread out while drawing their bows to return fire at Kavizé.

Kavizé's arrows were remarkably steady. Even when enemy arrows grazed his shoulder, he didn't even frown.

However, the warhorse beneath him couldn't handle it. After being hit by two arrows, it reared up in pain.

Kavizé's feet left the stirrups as he nimbly jumped onto the saddle, crouching halfway to fire an arrow that knocked another cavalryman from his horse.

Then, Kavizé pushed off with both feet, using the momentum to leap from the saddle. He reached out to grab a nearby branch, hooked his feet on the fork, and hung upside down to draw and fire another arrow. Now only two cavalrymen remained!

Kavizé flipped down to the ground, dodging the pursuing arrows, circled behind a tree to nock and draw his bow, then leaned out and shot an arrow through one cavalryman's throat.

By now, the last remaining cavalryman had pushed his horse to maximum speed. Instead of shooting another arrow, he drew his longsword and charged straight for Kavizé's neck.

Kavizé advanced instead of retreating, leaping high into the air with both feet pushing off the ground, reaching the same height as the cavalryman.

But his body twisted strangely in mid-air, as if lying flat horizontally.

While dodging the opponent's sword slash, his own blade precisely sliced through the gap in the armor, cutting the other's throat.

Kavizé landed lightly, flourished his sword in an elegant pattern, and flicked the blood from it.

Kavizé looked toward Henwil who had been hiding behind a rock: "Pretty cool, right? If you want to learn, I'll teach you!"

Henwil wasn't in the mood for jokes. He retrieved Kavizé's warhorse, carefully pulled out the arrows from it, and applied medicine to stop the bleeding and pain.

"Let's go quickly! These cavalrymen's comrades will definitely come looking! When they find them dead here, they'll probably send even more people after us!"

Kavizé shrugged: "I thought you might regret that I didn't die!"

Henwil said helplessly: "No time for jokes. I told you, in this chaotic situation, they don't care who I am! They won't rashly take me in either!

Even if they're feeling merciful and don't kill me outright, they won't let me stay in the military camp or city. In this damned weather, I'd die out here. So..."

Before he could finish, Kavizé shoved Henwil aside while simultaneously firing an arrow.

When Henwil got up, he saw an allied cavalryman not far away with an arrow through his throat, kneeling on the ground.

This cavalryman had fallen earlier but surprisingly hadn't died from the fall. He had just recovered enough to shoot an arrow toward them.

Only now did Kavizé's arrow finally kill him.

Henwil turned his head and saw Kavizé sitting slumped on the ground.

At that moment, an arrow was embedded in Kavizé's chest.

Henwil froze for a moment, then hurried over, trying to stop the bleeding.

But penetrating wounds were fatal in feudal times.

The arrow had already pierced through Kavizé's right lung. With each breath, bloody foam kept bubbling from his mouth.

Kavizé coughed up a mouthful of bloody foam: "The Goddess of Misfortune must have bewitched me earlier, making me take that arrow for you!"

Henwil looked at Kavizé with complex emotions: "You can't die! If you die, my life will become much harder!

Do you have any life-saving elixirs? Hurry and take them out, I'll help you use them!"

Kavizé smiled bitterly: "Elixirs?! That's not something a mere mercenary like me could afford! Enough, I know my condition. I won't make it!

You remember my supply point, right? Go! Hurry there! You're a smaller target alone! How to proceed from here is up to you now!"

With that, Kavizé handed his bow and longsword to Henwil: "You're destined for extraordinary things! Keep these as mementos! Consider them proof that I once lived!"

Henwil took the longsword and large bow, hesitating for a moment: "Do you have any unfinished business?

If possible, if I can survive in this hellish world, I'll complete it for you!"

Kavizé's eyes grew somewhat distant: "Unfinished business? There's plenty! But none of it concerns you! Just don't hate me!"

Henwil nodded: "Death settles all debts! You dragged me into this, snatched me from hope of survival, and now you took an arrow for me. We're even!"

Kavizé laughed: "Haha! Death settles all debts! Such practical words! You're quite unusual. Are you really just a child? I hope I..."

Kavizé's voice grew softer and softer until he stopped breathing, his lifeless eyes fixed on the dark night sky.

After a while, Henwil wiped the snowflakes from Kavizé's face and gently closed his eyes.

Then, Henwil found a cavalryman's cloak and covered Kavizé's body with it.

"Although we stood on different sides, you both harmed and saved me, and you taught me many things.

You were half a teacher to me. Given the urgent situation, I can only leave you here.

If opportunity allows, I'll search for your remains to give you proper burial.

If I can't find them, I'll remember this place and come back to pay respects at your grave!"

After speaking, Henwil suddenly cursed: "Damn you, Kavizé! If not for you, would I be suffering like this?"

Then, Henwil's mood turned somber: "Thank you, Kavizé. I was too optimistic before.

If not for you, my family and I would have starved to death in the Hidden Cellar!"

The wind and snow were gradually intensifying. Henwil turned to leave, then seemed to remember something.

After walking a few steps, he turned back and gave a slight bow to Kavizé's body.

This time, the youth walked into the snowstorm, carrying the longsword and large bow on his back...

More than ten minutes later, the spot where Kavizé's body lay was already covered by a thin layer of snow.

Suddenly, the snow stirred as Kavizé sat up, gasping for breath several times.

Looking in the direction Henwil had left: "What a pity! If we'd met under different circumstances, I would have gladly guided you!

Now I can only bid farewell this way! You did say death settles all debts, after all!"

As he spoke, Kavizé pressed his hand against the arrow. A faint white light glowed from his palm, causing the arrow to vanish into nothingness while his wound rapidly healed.

After completing this, Kavizé jumped up: "Tch! Need to change my name now! Let's go with Gru! Little guy, looking forward to meeting you again! Go forge your own legendary path!"

Kavizé turned and walked in another direction, completely disappearing into the snowstorm...
