Chapter 73: Kael’s Fury

Chapter 73: Kael’s Fury

After Raiden kick-started the competition with a bang, the rest of the fights in the tournament started to feel lacklustre to the audience.

No matter how they tried, they weren’t able to forget that first fight in the tournament.

Meanwhile, the other competitors in his bracket were losing some sleep. He was likely to become the winner of Bracket A.

As for other brackets, the audience had already decided their winners by popularity vote.

Marina Valeska was the default winner of Bracket B.

Bracket C was the most contested bracket, with votes divided equally between two competitors, Theodore Stormwind and Morgana Sol.

As for the last one, Bracket D, it was Kael Goldwyn, also considered the overall strongest contestant.

Raiden, on the other hand, sat in the private room that was provided to him with Woolie, both munching on food happily as they looked at the matches going on below.

Just then, his phone started ringing, interrupting his fun.

He pulled it out to see a request for a video call from his dear sister.

"Brother, you are so awesome!! And also Woolie!! You both are so strong!! Aunt Ruby and I are watching all your matches live from here on TV, and it looks like you are the strongest." An animated Sylvia appeared on the screen, waving her hands and moving around excitedly.

"Ahahaha, what did I tell you? Your big brother is the strongest. Just wait and see how your big brother wins this competition." Raiden patted his chest with confidence, boosting naturally.

"Rai Raii~" A serpentine voice sounded from the phone, as the phone was snatched from Sylvia’s hand, with a serpentine head filling up his vision.

"Aunt Ruby!" Raiden straightened up immediately as he looked into those golden serpentine eyes.

"You aree doing a good jobb~ I am proudd of youu~ Win and comee back soonn~ Theree is somee ’trash’ you need to take caree of~" Ruby spoke, her tone taking a sinister turn when she spoke the word trash.

Hearing her words, Raiden had a few guesses in his mind, but he didn’t say anything and just nodded.

"Understood, Aunt! I will be back before you know it."

Before Raiden could say anything else, Woolie jumped up from his spot and looked directly into the phone, talking animatedly.

"Woolie!! Wool Woolie Woolie Woo!!" ✧(≧▽≦)✧

Big sister!! Did you see me win?! I was so dashing on the stage! Don’t worry, I will take care of this useless human for you and win the competition for you! Emperor Woolie is the strongest!

A smile appeared on Ruby’s face as she faced the youngest guy in their household.

"Veryy Goodd. Take caree of Rai Raii for mee, don’t let himm go astaryy by youngg girlss. I will be watching you winn the matchh~!"

"Woolie!!" Woolie tried to pat his chest in full confidence, as if trying to assure her, only to fall short once again.

Raiden’s face was covered in black lines as he heard the conversation between the two. He quickly shoved Woolie downwards, snatching the camera time from him once again.

"Alright, we’ve got to go now, Aunt Ruby. The matches are starting once again. See you, see ya little Sylvi~" Raiden waved his hand at the camera, otherwise who knows what bizarre things Woolie will end up saying on the phone.

"Bye, big brother!! Go and win this!!" Sylvia waved for the one last time, before the phone was disconnected, letting Raiden sigh in relief.

He resumed watching the competition from his personal booth, munching on the food happily.

Meanwhile, on the other end of the stadium, the scene had a completely different atmosphere.

Crash!!

"Useless, a lot of you!! You couldn’t even figure out details about a nobody from a remote location?! And on top of that, he had the nerve to fool me, that bastard Raiden..." After smashing the final glass in his hands, Kael sat alone in his room with a dark look on his face, as his attendants worked in the background to clean the mess he had made.

Taking the new glass of drink his butler handed him, he drank it all in one go and then looked at the old man in front of him.

"Explain. Tell me why you couldn’t even pull the information about a single commoner." Kael asked, his voice dangerously low.

"I am sorry, Master Kael, I tried my best to find information about his family in the records of the Alliance, but..." The butler paused in his words, as if not sure how to continue.

"But what exactly?! Be clear about it!"

"But my access got restricted. I didn’t have high enough authority to check it." The man finished his words, leaving a sense of tension hanging in the air.

"You don’t have access to check the information?! What kind of sick joke is this?!" Kael stood up from his seat in shock.

"That’s not the scary part, Master Kael. The scary part is..." The butler paused again, gesturing to the rest of the people in the room, who got the hint and left the room one after another, leaving two of them alone in the room.

"The scary part is the patriarch himself got a call last night from somewhere, which scared him so much he started trembling and he... he asked me to stop looking into this guy’s background, or our entire family will....cease to exist."

Kael fell back into his seat unbelievably, his face full of disbelief.

"Our family will cease to exist?! What a joke! We are the biggest family in the whole state, the strongest. Who even has enough power to destroy us?!" Kael shouted, clearly in denial.

"They exist. They all exist in one single place. Forget our family, even the third-tier families in that place hold enough power to wipe our whole city off the map. That place, which is crawling with nothing but monsters. I think you know about it."

"Y-You mean..."

"Yes. I am talking about that place—"

"The True Capital."
