Chapter 114 - 112: Kissing Her in Front of Him

Chapter 114 - 112: Kissing Her in Front of Him

"..."

Certain it was safe, Mia Grant released Kian Keller’s hand and slowly crouched down. "Go back and tell Simon Adler he’s not a sincere person."

"I won’t believe a word he says."

Simon Adler’s men, not expecting her to be so difficult to handle, quickly called out to stop her:

"Tomorrow is the Hughes Corp’s board meeting. The old master has put Mr. Grant under house arrest, so he won’t be attending. Do you know what that means?"

Mia Grant paused mid-motion as she was getting up.

"Well, look who’s here."

"Quite the lively gathering. What’s all this, then?"

A cocky voice suddenly rang out from behind the crowd. Mia Grant didn’t even need to turn around to know who it was.

She stood up, her expression calm.

Simon Adler’s man was still rambling on, trying to persuade her. "The old master has made it clear: if Mr. Grant doesn’t bow his head and admit his mistake, he won’t be allowed to attend the board meeting."

"The directors of the Hughes Corp are circling like vultures. As long as Mr. Grant doesn’t show up, the Hughes Corp is going to change hands."

Yates Donovan walked over from behind, but Aaron raised a hand to stop him before he could get close.

Yates Donovan glanced sideways, a roguish grin on his face. "Long time no see, Annie."

"Back off." Aaron remembered this punk had reported their boss. He didn’t want to give him the time of day, and frankly, he wanted to punch him.

Yates Donovan pushed his hand down, the smile never leaving his face. "Still so aggressive. I’m friends with your Mr. Keller, you know."

Hearing this, Kian Keller, who was in front, glanced back at him. Their eyes met. A ripple disturbed the calm depths of the man’s gaze, and he frowned in disgust.

Yates Donovan was unfazed, greeting him enthusiastically.

"Throw him out." Kian Keller retracted his gaze. The words were for Aaron.

As for who to throw out...

Aaron reached out to grab Yates Donovan by the collar, and Mia Grant’s eyelids twitched violently.

The scene instantly descended into chaos. She tried to placate both sides. "No, no, no! We can talk this out. Don’t fight!"

She tried to go over, but Kian Keller yanked her back.

Turning her head, she saw the man staring straight ahead. His gaze wasn’t on her at all, but his grip was so strong she couldn’t break free no matter how she struggled.

Yates Donovan took in the scene, the curve of his lips widening. His eyes swept over Aaron’s outstretched hand, and he chuckled. "Sorry ’bout this."

The moment the words left his mouth, he grabbed Aaron’s hand, twisted it viciously, and bent it sharply upward. With his other hand, he produced a knife from god-knows-where and plunged it straight for Aaron’s shoulder.

"Yates Donovan!"

Yates Donovan clicked his tongue. The tip of the knife hovered over Aaron’s shoulder before he finally withdrew it. "What are you yelling for? I’m not deaf."

He straightened up and held a hand out to Mia Grant, his tone casual. "C’mon, let’s go get something to eat."

Beside them, Aaron stared at him, utterly stunned. Just as he was about to lunge forward, he was blocked by Mr. Payne. The man wore the same punchable smirk as Yates Donovan and said:

"You guys are all ex-special forces. On our side, we have some veterans too, but our overall strength definitely can’t match yours. However, our Young Master here was properly trained by the old general himself. You’d better save your energy and step aside."

It wasn’t just Aaron; Mia Grant was stunned too.

’I’d heard Mr. Payne mention it before, but I hadn’t believed him. Now, seeing it with my own eyes, "shocked" doesn’t even begin to cover it.’

’If I hadn’t called out to Yates Donovan in time... forget a knife in the shoulder, he could have killed Aaron with a single, effortless strike if he’d wanted to.’

’This Yates Donovan... the more you dig, the more there is to him. He’s hiding some serious depths.’

"Ethan, please let me go for now. I came with him this time; we have some things to do. I’ll come find you as soon as I’m done and back in the capital."

As she spoke, Mia Grant snuck a peek at the "blackening value" above his head.

Ever since the ’update,’ Kian Keller’s blackening value had dropped to eighty-eight.

’I’m not sure if it’s related to his leg injury. He was probably moved by my unwavering devotion.’

Kian Keller didn’t say anything.

Aaron couldn’t stand it anymore. His voice was cold and hard as he condemned her fickle behavior. "Miss Grant, you are the boss’s fiancée!"

"Hey, I can’t agree with you there. Who says?" Yates Donovan cut in. "Do they have a marriage contract? Or are they legally married?"

"If just saying it makes it true, then I could say she’s my wife."

Turning his head, he called out toward Mia Grant and Kian Keller, "Right, wifey~?"

"..."

Mia Grant’s eyelids twitched violently.

"You!" Aaron was a rough-and-tumble guy; he was definitely no match for Yates Donovan in a war of words.

"Alright, alright," Mia Grant interrupted, afraid they were about to start fighting again.

"My heart has always been with Ethan! That’s never changed!"

’At a time like this, I have to handle Kian Keller first.’

Yates Donovan nodded in cooperation. "I can vouch for that. She definitely doesn’t like Hayes Hughes, you can rest assured."

"..."

The surroundings fell silent.

Mia Grant glared at him, grinding her teeth. ’You just wait!’

Yates Donovan shrugged, the picture of innocence. "Why are you glaring at me? Did I say something wrong? Or should I have said that you *do* like Hayes Hughes?"

"Shut up!" If Kian Keller hadn’t been holding her back, Mia Grant would have slapped that smug mouth of his long ago.

Without even turning her head, she could feel a suffocatingly low pressure emanating from the man beside her.

Mia Grant squeezed Kian Keller’s hand. "Ethan, are you staying at this hotel? I’ll contact you later, but right now I have to talk to him about something. It’s about my brother; he’s not in a good situation right now. The old master is constantly looking for me..."

She trailed off, knowing someone as smart as Kian Keller would understand.

Sure enough, the man’s brow furrowed slightly before quickly smoothing out.

And he let go of her hand.

Mia Grant turned back to meet his gaze.

"I’ll be fine."

Kian Keller lowered his eyes. A few seconds later, his gaze traveled past her to the person standing behind her.

Yates Donovan was still smiling at him. Kian Keller looked away. "Aaron, take some men and go with her."

Aaron froze. "Sir, you..."

"Go with her." The man’s voice was clear and cold, leaving no room for argument.

Aaron swallowed his words and nodded.

The elevator doors opened, and Aaron urged Mia Grant to get in.

Mia Grant kept looking back, finally asking, "Ethan, will you really be okay with just a few people by your side? I’m afraid... I’ll get you into trouble."

Kian Keller turned to the side, staring at her for a long moment before suddenly walking toward her.

Inside the elevator, Yates Donovan leaned against one side with his arms crossed, watching the reluctant couple outside with an expression that said he was totally shipping them.

Aaron stood to the side, staring daggers at him, terrified that this psycho would do something unpredictable if he looked away for a second.

Outside the elevator, Kian Keller stopped in front of Mia Grant.

Under everyone’s gaze, he lifted her chin with one hand and lowered his head to kiss her.

Almost instantly, a soft sound came from inside the elevator.

Like the sound of knuckles cracking.

Aaron glanced sideways and saw Yates Donovan unclenching his fist, his expression as nonchalant as ever.

The touch on her lips was cool. A deep kiss, prying her lips apart.

Mia Grant froze. The next second, she felt something being thrust into her arms—something even colder than the touch of his lips...

’It feels like... a gun?!’
