Chapter 1004 528: Even the Ghost Gate Is a Knockoff
But he didn't doubt Gu Shanhai; if he said it was useful, then it definitely was.
"Well, thank you." Gu Shanhai said calmly.
"I've noticed you seem a bit too quiet?" Da Tianwei curiously asked.
The real meaning behind that was: why are you so lazy and unwilling to lift a finger?
Ever since arriving at the Old Mountain Village, Gu Shanhai hadn't left this laboratory at all.
"Well, with you guys helping me, I naturally have to be more restrained." Gu Shanhai expressed that he wasn't lazy, it was just that they were so reliable that he didn't want to move.
You could only say they were good teammates. If they weren't a bit weak, Gu Shanhai even thought of bringing Shura, Guangguaili and others like Da Tianwei into instances together, so he'd have nothing to do and just wait to complete missions.
"You really are..." Da Tianwei was somewhat speechless; what Gu Shanhai said sounded rather euphemistic.
Five minutes later, Shura hurried back. The whole process was actually quite easy since Gu Shanhai made a one-click foolproof version, removing concerns about not knowing how to operate it.
Moreover, even if Shura couldn't operate it, the text prompts could help with reminders and corrections, unlike Da Tianwei who needed a manual.
"How is it, successful?" The first thing Shura asked Gu Shanhai when he returned.
"Not sure yet, we have to wait until you finish installing it before testing." Gu Shanhai hadn't even turned it on yet, so he couldn't know if it was successful.
Then they quickly started testing. The restored Teleportation Array was activated, it should have started operating and transferring normally, but because Gu Shanhai added a plugin, it ultimately became a portal.
The portal began to emit light and stick together.
"Prepare for battle." Shura drew a long knife, growling lowly when he felt a terrifying aura the moment the portal fully stuck together.
Da Tianwei was already prepared too, holding the Heavenly Halberd, and Cui Yingying was floating beside him.
"Roar~"
A strange roar was heard, followed by a zombie leaping out of the portal.
They called it a zombie, but looking closely, it seemed more like a mutated human rather than a corpse.
"Interesting, this time it wasn't concocted using Corpse Birth Magic as a base, instead multiple ghosts were fused."
Gu Shanhai watched Shura slash and kill the zombie with intrigue reflected in his expression.
This was just the first vanguard, followed by a swarm of zombies frantically squeezing through the portal.
"Damn, is your aura upgradeable???" Da Tianwei keenly detected something amiss with himself.
Usually, Shura wouldn't be able to cut down a zombie with a single strike, but now he could.
He also felt the unusual strength boost from the aura enhancement, at first thinking it was an illusion, since Gu Shanhai usually kept his aura off, but now that it was powered up suddenly, he felt it, which was normal.
Upon opening his status panel, he noticed something was off.
"Yeah, if I didn't have a few tricks up my sleeve, how could I dare call myself Master of Aura." Gu Shanhai stated earnestly.
Because of this, the original plan which required two people to plug the gun holes was unnecessary, allowing Shura to single-handedly kill this group of zombies.
"You've got to be kidding me, this is insane."
"How long can this last?"
In Da Tianwei's mind, Gu Shanhai must have used some kind of skill or item, or else the aura effect couldn't possibly have upgraded on its own.
"It's enough, we'll make it through this situation first." Gu Shanhai vaguely said.
He couldn't just reveal the truth, it wouldn't be appropriate.
Seeing this, Da Tianwei also joined the fight with the Heavenly Halberd, as these zombies were all elite monsters, providing experience points, game coins, and other goodies upon being killed.
Fortunately, Gu Shanhai had this trick up his sleeve. Otherwise, directly activating the Teleportation Array, regardless of whether they were transported over or the zombies were sent here, wouldn't have been good for them.
Two fists can't fight four hands, not to mention countless hands.
They used the portal to restrict the number of zombies at every exit, thus maximizing their kill rate.
Gu Shanhai wasn't idle either, he conjured a mass of flesh from thin air, coming alive in an instant and squirming towards the pile of zombie corpses.
Tai Sui Gu, a unique ghost created by Gu Shanhai.
It doesn't belong to the kinds in the Ghost World; it's his creation.
Currently, its main function is to devour these zombies.
"Strange, the numbers don't match." Shura glanced at the Tai Sui Gu but didn't pay much attention, as it was Gu Shanhai's creation, a summon.
"Are you suspecting that these zombies weren't transformed from the Old Mountain Village people but have another origin?"
Da Tianwei also guessed Shura's thoughts.
"Didn't you both understand what I said just now? These zombies are different from the ones we encountered before, they are made from ghost fusion, human parts make up a tiny portion, not just one person, maybe even clones." Gu Shanhai explained.
These two didn't get it.
"So in theory, these things are also ghosts, but they are failures in the Ghost Completion Plan."
"Everyone in the Old Mountain Village should be fused in the BOSS."
"It's even possible that the mother body of these zombies is the BOSS."
Gu Shanhai could discern changes in the Ghost Completion Plan from the zombie variations; starting from needing humans as material to succeed to now not requiring a whole human for synthesis.
Still, it remained a failure. What they wanted was a civilization; hence, these beast-like zombies didn't fit. Using complete humans could have intelligence, but it wasn't ghostly; it was human, going in the wrong direction.
"So, if we don't kill the BOSS, we can't kill off all these zombies?" Da Tianwei asked.
This wasn't trivial; they acted early to reduce difficulty, not to gain some meager rewards, which were tiny compared to the instance rewards.
"That's not it, these zombies are part of the BOSS's power, killing them will reduce it. Plus, based on analysis of the current data, the opponent needs considerable time and resources to produce these zombies, neither of which currently favors them." Gu Shanhai reassured.
"If we rush in and attack the BOSS now, what's the success rate?" Shura cut to the chase.
"I don't know." Gu Shanhai gave a quality answer.
"Won't we be stuck here grinding monsters daily?" Da Tianwei felt despair.
Unlike Shura, he couldn't endure such high-intensity, monotonous combat.
"You hang in there for now. Once my Tai Sui Gu grows up, it can take over." Gu Shanhai didn't manufacture the Tai Sui Gu just to clean up the zombie corpses through devouring, but also to save him work later.
In the next stage, Shura and Da Tianwei would likely be eliminated due to insufficient power, and Gu Shanhai wouldn't want to toil by himself then, he'd need something to assist him.
He wasn't planning on using Heart Demon Dao Soldiers and Little White due to the world's peculiarities.
So he created a tool for utilization right away.
It was perfect timing with so many elite monster zombies, which were ghosts, so it saved expenses.
"You've got good foresight!" Da Tianwei felt more satisfied watching the Tai Sui Gu devouring zombie corpses one by one.
At least it wasn't just a garbage bin. Well, even if it were just a garbage bin, it'd be good since excessive zombie bodies would need to be moved out anyway, otherwise too many would impact their combat efficiency.
