Chapter 281 : How About... Sleeping Together?

The rain still hadn't stopped even after dinner.

Seeing the rain showing signs of getting heavier, Chen Yao's mind became active.

After all, with a beautiful woman by his side, if he went home, he'd either face his parents or be in the restaurant kitchen learning to cook. Between these two choices, any man would know what to pick.

"With such heavy rain, how about tonight I just..."

Lin Nan's mother glanced at him. "If you want to sleep on the sofa, that's fine." Just as Chen Yao was about to raise his hand in agreement, Lin Nan's mother turned and said goodbye to everyone, then left with Lin Nan's eldest uncle and aunt in Wu Guodong's car.

He stood there dazed, suddenly realizing that if he shamelessly stayed here, it really wouldn't be appropriate.

"Are you seriously planning to sleep on the sofa tonight?" Lin Nan poked his arm and muttered quietly, "How about I make my cousin sleep on the sofa? You can sleep on the floor in my room?"

She continued bashfully in a low voice, "Or... sleeping together would work too."

"Wouldn't that be improper?" He scratched his head awkwardly. Though somewhat excited, he felt it wouldn't be right to take Liu Xinyi's spot.

Besides, there clearly weren't any extra rooms here. Even Lin Nan's mother had to leave, so him staying would obviously be inappropriate.

But after only a few days apart, Lin Nan could no longer endure the longing of this separation, especially since Chen Yao had been idly running off to learn cooking, making even his online chat responses slow, which always made Lin Nan suspect that now that he'd caught her, he was too lazy to maintain the relationship.

However, after that afternoon's experience, Lin Nan could confirm that Chen Yao at least still lusted after her body.

"Liu Xinyi!"

"Hm?" Her cousin, who was watching the news in the hall, looked up at the two people standing by the stairs.

"Tonight you're sleeping on the downstairs sofa."

"Huh?"

"I'll go upstairs and get you a blanket and pillow. Just sleep comfortably downstairs. There's even a big TV to watch." Lin Nan put her hands on her hips, speaking in a matter-of-fact tone. "The floor is so hard, I can't bear to make you sleep there."

"Sis, I suspect you want to do something naughty with brother-in-law tonight." Liu Xinyi rolled her eyes. "Whatever, I don't care either way."

Chen Yao leaned against the stair railing, looking at Lin Nan's face. It was rare to see her being this unreasonable.

Wu Jiaming came down from upstairs, poked his head out to glance at them, and suggested, "How about letting him sleep with me?"

Wu Jiaming had only heard the gist of their conversation, just knowing that Chen Yao was planning to stay overnight.

"No need, thanks cousin." Lin Nan looked up at him, her eyes carrying intense threat.

Although Lin Nan's threatening gaze had no intimidating power and was even a bit adorably fierce, Wu Jiaming still took an awkward step back. "Alright then, if he's sleeping... then Xinyi sleeps on the sofa?"

Wu Jiaming sold out his own cousin without hesitation.

Fortunately, Liu Xinyi didn't care where she slept.

Chen Yao looked left and right, discovering that Lin Nan's grandparents also showed no concern, so he naturally agreed.

Like the previous several nights, Wu Jiaming started setting up the projector, preparing to watch two movies that evening. The grandparents returned to their room early, planning to watch TV in bed, while Lin Nan rushed up and down, and in no time had moved all of Liu Xinyi's bedding down to the first-floor sofa.

Liu Xinyi didn't think sleeping on the sofa was bad at all. She lay comfortably on her side on the sofa, covered with the blanket, propping her head up with one hand while watching the movie.

"Let's go. Are you planning to watch movies here too?" Lin Nan, having arranged everything, grabbed Chen Yao's wrist and dragged him upstairs.

Liu Xinyi and Wu Jiaming exchanged glances, showing the knowing smiles that adults understand, nodding at each other before turning up the movie volume a bit.

Returning to the bedroom, Lin Nan casually locked the door. Chen Yao entered and discovered there was now an extra cotton blanket on the floor bedding.

"Grandfather said there are spare blankets, so you can just sleep on the floor." Lin Nan climbed onto the bed and turned on the old bulky TV.

"So you lured me into staying, then won't give me any benefits."

Chen Yao rolled his eyes at her and lowered his head to send his parents a message on his phone that he wouldn't be coming home tonight.

During the previous half month alone with him at Chen Yao's house, Lin Nan had grown to like the atmosphere when the two of them were together.

She wasn't watching TV either, lying on the bed with both hands propping up her chin, gazing at Chen Yao's profile below the bed. Her emotions inexplicably soared high, her calves unconsciously beginning to swing up and down, her body gently swaying left and right.

"What's wrong? Do I have rice on my face?" After sending his message, Chen Yao looked up to see Lin Nan's big eyes staring straight at him. He couldn't help feeling flustered, touching his cheeks and corners of his mouth, but didn't find anything dirty.

"Nothing, just looking."

"You staring at me like this feels weird." Though Chen Yao's thick skin didn't show any blushing, he felt somewhat uneasy.

He had the distinct feeling that the ambiguous atmosphere in the room was growing visibly thicker. Could it be Lin Nan wanted to continue what happened this afternoon?

He didn't dare speculate about Lin Nan's thoughts, mainly because this girl's thought process was rather unusual.

"Maybe I'm just looking because you're handsome."

"Let's sleep early tonight?" Lin Nan suggested.

"Sounds good, I am a bit tired too." Chen Yao stretched lazily and lay directly on the floor bedding, but kept feeling the bamboo mat was too cold, making his whole body uncomfortable.

The blanket that had previously been placed on the bamboo mat had been given to Liu Xinyi, and grandfather's house had no extra blankets.

He rolled around uncomfortably several times, trying to use the blanket to sandwich himself in the middle.

"How about... together?" He raised his head and asked tentatively.

Lin Nan's big eyes immediately showed guilt, her eyeballs glancing toward the upper left as she mumbled out an "Mm."

Hearing the affirmative answer, Chen Yao immediately brought his blanket and climbed onto the bed. Lin Nan quickly made room for half the bed, lying flat on the other side and covering half her face with the blanket.

Lin Nan's hands gripped the upper edge of the blanket. With Chen Yao beside her, emanating strong male hormones, her body also began unconsciously tensing up.

"Cold?" Chen Yao noticed Lin Nan's body seemed to be trembling slightly.

Hearing no response, he took it as confirmation. He simply spread out his own blanket and divided half to Lin Nan. "One and a half blankets, you shouldn't be cold now, right?"

"Mm..."

Just feeling suffocated.

There was at least a ten-centimeter gap between them. After Chen Yao shared half his blanket, his side couldn't be covered properly.

Lin Nan pulled the blanket up a bit more, only exposing her eyes, cautiously stealing occasional glances at Chen Yao beside her, while quietly, soundlessly wriggling toward him.

Chen Yao sat on the bed, focused on the TV and his phone, but when he looked at Lin Nan again, he discovered this girl was already next to him.
