Chapter 258 : Weren't You Before?

Lin Nan had never imagined that one day someone would confess to her.

And the person confessing to her was actually her close friend she'd known since middle school.

"You're back?" His mother turned her head and glared at him. "Three orders are already ten minutes late! Hurry up and deliver them!"

As soon as she finished speaking, she noticed something wrong with Chen Yao's expression. Her brows furrowed as she asked carefully, "What's wrong?"

"Nothing."

Chen Yao expressionlessly picked up the takeout and checked the addresses on them.

"Did something happen with Nan Nan? Did she bully you?"

Chen Yao's mother probed, "Did she make you angry? Should I go back tonight and have a good talk with her?"

"It's nothing. You don't need to worry about it."

Chen Yao looked up. "I'm going to deliver the orders now."

"Put that down! First tell me what happened!" She suddenly raised her voice and said seriously, "Did you two break up?"

"We didn't... we were never together in the first place..."

He turned his head away, not daring to let his mother see his eyes. He picked up those three takeout orders and pretended to be carefree as he turned to leave. "I'm going now. If I don't deliver them, I'll get complaints again." Chen Yao walked straight out the back door, placed the takeout in the foam box to keep warm, got on the electric scooter, and let out a soft sigh.

I was being too self-absorbed, thinking Lin Nan liked me too.
