Chapter 219 : Complete Chaos
Chapter 219 : Complete Chaos
After staying at grandfather's house for several days, Lin Nan gradually began to feel bored with the environment here.
Every day she played games with Wu Guodong's console, occasionally using the unstable WiFi to play on the computer. Other than that, there were no other entertainment options here.
If she were in the county town, she could go out and play with Chen Yao from time to time. But Wu Guodong was a shut-in who wouldn't bother going out unless something forced him to.
The missing Cola was temporarily forgotten in the back of her mind. That cat was quite smart. Logically, if it were being bullied, it would immediately run back home. Since it hadn't returned after so many days, it was probably living well outside.
It was probably freeloading at every household.
Lin Nan picked up her laptop and walked downstairs. After hesitating for a moment, she pushed open Wu Guodong's bedroom door.
Her uncle inside was startled and looked up at Lin Nan, feeling fortunate that he hadn't been doing anything strange.
"Is there room? I want to use my computer here."
"Isn't upstairs the same?"
"It’s too laggy."
The furnishings in the room were almost identical to Lin Nan's room. Except for the television, most of the furniture and appliances in this small villa were probably products from the last century, so they inevitably looked somewhat worn.
Wu Guodong occupied the only desk. Lin Nan simply climbed onto the bed with her computer, casually plugged the charger into the outlet by the headboard, then leaned against the headboard and placed the laptop on her thighs.
"You're really not being polite at all."
He turned his head to glance at Lin Nan's straight, long legs, somewhat suspecting that this niece was deliberately trying to seduce him.
Lin Nan had changed into the hoodie and jeans her mother had bought before. The white, loose hoodie directly covered most of the curves on Lin Nan's chest, but the tight, elastic jeans accentuated the soft and well-proportioned curves of her lower body.
Perhaps because she wasn't quite used to women's clothing, Lin Nan's cheeks always carried a hint of rosy charm, making her particularly eye-catching.
Good thing I'm not into legs, Wu Guodong muttered to himself, but his eyes still uncontrollably swept toward Lin Nan's legs.
Just as he was about to say something, he suddenly heard sounds of someone entering the house downstairs. After a pause, a voice called from below: "Is anyone home?"
"Eldest aunt?"
Lin Nan was stunned and looked up bewildered. "Why did she come?"
"She lives nearby and can come whenever she wants." Wu Guodong stretched lazily, somewhat reluctantly preparing to go out and receive his eldest sister.
"Don't tell her I'm here."
Lin Nan didn't want to meet any more relatives. If some relative couldn't accept her current gender and appearance, it would just be more trouble.
"Alright."
Watching the door close, Lin Nan was surprised to discover that the video she was watching had gotten stuck again. She regretted not keeping the door half-open when she entered earlier.
The soundproofing here wasn't very good. She could clearly hear the conversation in dialect downstairs.
"Where's Lin Nan? I heard she had some problems?"
"She's not here."
"Her mother said she was here. Where did Nan Nan go?"
"She went out to play."
"Nan Nan" was also Lin Nan's pet name. Hearing this form of address from an elder was a nickname, but if it came from someone her age, Lin Nan would feel it was teasing.
She stretched and continued listening to the conversation downstairs, but as she listened, something seemed off. It seemed her mother had told her business to others.
Telling grandfather and grandmother was fine, but telling relatives she didn't have much contact with was a bit too much for Lin Nan to accept.
"I never noticed my mom was such a big mouth before..."
Lin Nan felt that becoming a girl was an embarrassing, shameful thing, yet her mother was telling everyone about it, which made her psychologically uncomfortable.
Although she knew she would eventually have to face all relatives in this female form, she still felt betrayed.
Uncle and eldest aunt started chatting about recent news regarding infectious diseases. From their tone, they were just treating it as gossip, not taking it to heart at all, just like Lin Nan.
After all, it was really too far away, and based on current information, it didn't seem dangerous.
After finishing two episodes of a drama that felt pretty good, Lin Nan simply downloaded it to her computer. Now that she is a girl, she should be more conscious and not always stay in Wu Guodong's bedroom.
Placing the laptop on the bedside table, she tiptoed out to the hallway and carefully peered downstairs, only to discover that eldest aunt happened to be looking up at the same time.
The atmosphere immediately became awkward.
Lin Nan quickly pulled her head back, wishing she could slap herself twice. Why couldn't she resist being curious and have to take a look?
"Whose girl is that?" Eldest aunt had only seen a girl flash by and hadn't gotten a clear look. She teased Wu Guodong: "Don't tell me you brought back a girlfriend? Quickly have her come down to meet me."
Wu Guodong was also bewildered, but he couldn't use the girlfriend excuse to muddle through. Otherwise, when his sister mentioned it during New Year, he'd probably get his legs broken.
"That... you saw wrong, right?"
"Do you think I'm blind?"
He shrugged and could only blame Lin Nan for being careless herself. He told the truth: "Weren't you looking for Lin Nan? Didn't you just see her?"
Eldest aunt was stunned and asked in surprise: "She really is a girl?"
"She's been examined several times. The surgery is all done. I think her boyfriend even paid for it."
"She even has a boyfriend?!"
Lin Nan upstairs wanted to grab a brick and knock Wu Guodong unconscious. This guy not only betrayed her but also made things up out of thin air. Where did she get a boyfriend from?
"Right now she doesn't really want to see you." Wu Guodong held back eldest aunt who was planning to go upstairs. "Come see her in a few days."
When the scene was somewhat chaotic, the front door was pushed open again. Wu Jiaming walked into the house, followed closely by a girl with delicate features but short hair.
"Why did Xinyi come too?" Wu Guodong was even more stunned. It was already chaotic enough, why did another one come?
"Cousin said she arrived, so I drove to pick her up." Wu Jiaming sat on the sofa and casually threw an apple to Liu Xinyi. "What are you doing? Pulling and tugging like that, if people didn't know better, they'd think it was a robbery."
"Where's cousin Lin Nan?" Liu Xinyi caught the apple. Without washing it, she roughly wiped it twice with her sleeve and took a bite directly, then showed an excited smile on her face. "I want him to duo queue with me to climb ranks."
"More like climbing to your grave. He should be upstairs." Wu Jiaming answered. Seeing Liu Xinyi get up to leave, he suddenly remembered Lin Nan's current situation and quickly pulled her back.
Wu Guodong also hurriedly stopped Liu Xinyi, but when he turned around, he saw that eldest aunt had already gone upstairs.
In another moment of inattention, Liu Xinyi had also slipped upstairs, calling out: "Cousin! Let's go to an internet cafe so you can help me climb ranks!"
"No, what do we do now?"
"Does cousin know about her situation?" Wu Jiaming scratched his head. "Does aunt know the situation?"
"You're asking me? Who should I ask?"
