I Can Talk to the Internal Organs

Chapter 363 - 329: Innate Endowments and Acquired Environment

Chapter 363 - 329: Innate Endowments and Acquired Environment

"How old is the child now?"

"Eleven years old."

Four years, not too long of a delay.

But for treatment, we still need to look at the specifics.

"Come, give me the child’s hand." Lu Jiu said as he stood up from his seat, approaching the child.

The child’s mother held him, while his father hurriedly extended the child’s hand.

Lu Jiu placed his hands on the child’s wrist, feeling the pulse while silently listening to the communication between the Five Viscera.

"It’s too hot here, the real organ here, the wind is swirling wildly, what should we do?" said the Liver Wood.

"Fei Jin, can you blow the wind away from Liver Wood’s side?" said the Spleen Earth.

"No, I have too much phlegm, and the wind on that side is carrying the phlegm, which has already reached the brain; it’s completely uncontrollable." said Fei Jin.

"What should we do then?" said the Spleen Earth.

"Heart Fire, try to think of a way." said the Liver Wood.

"Way? What way can I offer!? The five of us are not fully developed, and he’s eating randomly, weakening the Spleen Earth. If it weren’t for the lack of energy and blood, would your real organ’s yin and yang be imbalanced? There’s not enough Liver Yin, nor Kidney Yin, can I supplement this for you?" said Heart Fire.

"..."

With insufficient Liver Yin, yin is damaged where yang flourishes. At this time, if the diet is irregular and long-term consumption of heavy flavors, greasy, or overly sweet foods damages the Spleen and Stomach, it produces phlegm.

Originally, children have ample yang energy. If this state persists, it leads to a mixture of phlegm and heat. Once invaded by pathogenic wind entering the liver, the phlegm-heat will trigger liver wind, causing symptoms like unconsciousness and convulsions in children.

The "Spring and Autumn Annals of the Lu Family" has a saying: "If a room is large, there’s more yin; if a platform is high, there’s more yang; too much yin results in limpness, too much yang results in wilting; this is the calamity of disharmonized yin and yang."

It means, if the room is large, there’s too much Yin Qi; if the platform is high, there’s too much Yang Qi. Excessive Yin Qi leads to limping, and excessive Yang Qi leads to burning heat, which are disasters caused by disharmony of Yin and Yang.

For instance, with today’s high-rise buildings, once the floors are high, the people living above experience a predomination of Yang Qi. Over time, they enter a state of yang hyperactivity.

Some others live in basements where the Yin Qi is dense and humidity is heavy, leading to conditions where their feet are easily incapacitated over time.

This is actually the environmental impact on people.

When the body’s Yin Qi is heavy, it’s easy to develop tumors and similar diseases of insufficient Yin; when Yang Qi is heavy, it results in yang hyperactivity, and even debilitation.

Childhood epilepsy, to some extent, is caused by prolonged yang hyperactivity. Because of congenital deficiencies since birth, the Five Viscera haven’t developed well, which is already a state of more yang than yin.

If the acquired lifestyle doesn’t adjust his body to a state of yin-yang balance, extended periods of yang hyperactivity will lead to seizures, after which the person falls into a prolonged state of debilitation and confusion.

Chest tightness and fatigue, uncontrolled excretion, irritability, restlessness, and so forth.

Each seizure exacerbates the condition!

If the yin-yang balance isn’t adjusted, the body enters a vicious cycle, where, gradually, the person can’t withstand this vicious cycle, leading to death.

The child’s seizures are likely due to unaddressed emotional guidance, coupled with poor dietary habits, which together become the trigger for seizures.

"Dr. Lu, how is it?"

Seeing Lu Jiu quiet for a long time, the child’s father becomes anxious.

He heard that Dr. Lu from Lu Jiu TCM Hospital is particularly skilled, which is why he decided to try his luck when his child had seizures.

Even though the hospital had clearly told him this disease could only be controlled with medications and a cure was absolutely impossible.

But as a father, how could he give up any hope?

Lu Jiu, hearing them, immediately released his hand and asked, "How do you usually manage the child?"

"Or rather, how do you regulate the child’s emotions, and regarding his diet, do you often give him rich and thick foods, like sugar?"

Upon hearing Lu Jiu’s questions, Cai Bozhang immediately responded, "As for emotions, because he’s always prone to tantrums, we initially tried to stop him and taught him to calm down, but after being diagnosed with epilepsy, we dared not let him throw a fit. Each time he got angry, his grandmother would feed him something, sometimes chips, sometimes candy, and cola, just to manage his mood."

"We also know that too much sugar isn’t good for children’s teeth, but compared to his tantrums, which might trigger epilepsy, teeth became less important. After all, we grew up on junk food as well."

Lu Jiu shook his head, "It’s different. Each person’s constitution is different. Just because you were fine with junk food doesn’t mean your child will be. The reason he’s prone to tantrums and often moves around is due to developmental issues. I’m not talking about nutritional deficiencies, but congenital problems from the fetus. The child’s mother wasn’t in great health during pregnancy, right?"

The child’s mother was taken aback, then lowered her head, "Hmm~"

Lu Jiu continued, "The child’s congenital underdevelopment makes the Five Viscera unable to contain a lot of yang energy. It’s like having five containers that should be as big as a football, but your child’s Five Viscera are about the size of a tennis ball. With age, the yang energy in a child’s body fills the Five Viscera, but since your child’s Five Viscera are underdeveloped, there’s excess yang energy."

"This excess yang energy, not being able to enter the Five Viscera, disperses outward. This is when the child shows symptoms of hyperactivity, emotional excitation, agitation, and irritability. In fact, at this time, appropriate guidance can help the child channel his emotions smoothly, avoiding repression within the body, and preventing seizures."

"But you don’t understand, leaving the child to control their emotions. Unbeknownst to you, these emotions stirred from physical discomfort are hard even for adults to relieve, let alone for a child. When emotions can’t be vented, it leads to liver qi depression, internal liver wind, which when met with phlegm heat, rushes directly to the brain orifices, triggering seizures."

"And this phlegm heat is caused by the junk food you give him to stabilize his emotions—whether it’s sugar or cola. They taste sweet but turn sour in the Spleen and Stomach. Damaging the Spleen and Stomach, it disrupts blood and energy production. In this condition, not only do the Five Viscera not receive enough nutritional supply, nurturing the yin part, but it also results in the body generating a large amount of phlegm."

"This phlegm combined with the child’s excess yang energy creates phlegm-heat. Rising with heat, the phlegm carries the heat directly to the forehead. The child is full of yang energy. You must have noticed this, holding the child feels like holding a small furnace. Because he continuously receives external Yang energy, the phlegm reaching his head never descends, even clogging all the Yang energy at the head."

"So, your child’s seizures are due to congenital deficiencies and the poor environment you’ve provided postnatally. Does my explanation make sense?"
