Chapter 213: Her Safe Place
Chapter 213: Her Safe Place
After her husbands finished massaging her head, hands, and legs, Roxanna finally felt her body relax and little by little, her mind began to clear.
But because of that, she finally realized that she had made a mistake a while ago.
[I was really acting childish earlier!] she scolded herself. [Why did I suddenly bring up the evil Roxanna in our conversation? She forced herself on them... there’s no way they could like her!]
[Stupid...] she lightly tapped her forehead several times. [I’m so stupid for bringing up their worst trauma.]
Just as she was about to hit her head again, Luan gently caught her hand.
"Why do you keep hitting your head?" he asked, pretending not to know what she had been thinking. "Does your head still hurt?"
He slowly massaged her head again, this time also applying light pressure to her temples, hoping it could reduce her migraine.
"No... it’s not like that," Roxanna said in a small voice. She lowered her gaze. "I just feel bad... because I was being mean to all of you for no reason."
Azul, who had been massaging her legs, paused for a moment. "Mean? You were just asking questions."
No matter how tricky her questions had been, they were nothing compared to the cruel things done by the "evil" one.
"Alright, stop thinking about that," Cyrus chimed in. "Your head might hurt even more if you keep thinking about useless things."
He added gently, "As long as you don’t do anything that hurts others, you’re fine, sweety."
Roxanna went rigid the moment she heard the nickname Cyrus used for her. It might have been the first time one of her husbands called her something other than her name or "wife."
[That tone... damn it...] she thought, her heart racing. [At this rate, I might get a heart attack if Cyrus keeps talking like that...]
Azul and Luan slowly turned their heads toward Cyrus, their eyes narrowing. To them, it looked like this little bird had just tried to kill their wife.
Meanwhile, the culprit simply smiled at them, completely unbothered.
"A-Alright..." Roxanna stammered. Her heart was beating so fast that she had to hold her breath for a few seconds just to calm it down.
[But... I kind of like that nickname...] She bit her lower lip, trying to hide her smile. [If he keeps calling me that, I might recover from this headache and nausea instantly.]
Not long after that, Cyrus suddenly leaned toward her and spoke in a soft, low tone. "Your face looks a little red, sweety. Do you have a fever too?"
Before she could say anything, Cyrus had already placed his palm on her forehead, pretending to check her temperature. "Hmm... but your temperature seems fine, sweety."
Roxanna’s face turned even redder as he kept using that nickname. She felt so embarrassed that she almost wanted to dig a hole and bury herself.
"I-I’m fine!" she blurted out, forcing herself to speak. "M-my face is just red because I feel hot!"
"I see..." Cyrus leaned back after checking her temperature. "You might feel hot because the hut is too crowded. How about we leave you alone for a while?"
"No!" Roxanna immediately grabbed Cyrus’s hand, then looked at Azul and Luan in turn. "Don’t go."
The annoyance that had been building up in Azul and Luan slowly faded as they realized how adorable Roxanna looked when she was being teased like this.
Azul then jumped into the conversation. "Why not? Wouldn’t you be able to rest more comfortably if you weren’t surrounded by so many people?"
"But... but I will be lonely," Roxanna said softly. She lowered her head, but her eyes occasionally lifted to look at her husbands. "Besides... we’re used to sleeping together, right? So it’s not a problem if it’s a bit crowded. Please... don’t leave me alone."
She looked at them with glazed eyes, the kind of look that made her husbands regret teasing her earlier.
Cyrus then cleared his throat. "Then, we won’t go anywhere."
Within seconds, Roxanna lifted her head and flashed a bright smile. "Then let’s take a nap together! Zeir and Calen probably won’t be back until later this afternoon, so we can sleep until then."
Azul let out a soft sigh, but there was a faint smile on his lips. "You really don’t know how dangerous that face of yours is," he muttered.
Luan chuckled. "If you keep looking at us like that, we won’t be able to refuse anything you ask."
Cyrus simply shook his head, though his eyes softened as he looked at her. "You already know the answer, and yet you still ask like that..."
Roxanna blinked at them, slightly confused, but she didn’t say anything more. Instead, she softly patted the empty space beside her.
"Come here," she said gently.
The three of them exchanged glances for a brief moment before finally giving in.
Azul lay down beside her first, carefully pulling her into his arms. Cyrus followed soon after, settling close on her other side, while Luan stayed near her head, gently brushing her hair away from her face.
"Close your eyes," Cyrus said in a low voice.
Roxanna nodded slightly, her body already relaxing again.
Azul gently patted her arm, while Cyrus hummed softly right behind her to lull her to sleep.
It didn’t take long before she fell into a deep slumber. She didn’t even dream because her sleep was that peaceful.
The moment she opened her eyes, the sky had already turned red, and she could hear people talking and moving around outside the hut.
She turned her head to the right and left, finally realizing that Cyrus and Azul were no longer there.
"Oh, you’re awake?" Luan’s voice surprised her.
She quickly looked up and saw that he was still lying near her head. His tail swayed lazily as he watched her.
"Where are the others?" Roxanna asked.
"Where else?" Luan tilted his chin toward the outside. "They’re preparing dinner together. Aren’t you supposed to give a speech tonight?"
Roxanna immediately sat up straight as soon as she remembered that. She groaned. "I almost forgot!"
To be honest, she wanted to forget it on purpose. Not because it wasn’t important, but because it was too important.
That speech would decide the future of the Vixeria Tribe and that was exactly why she wanted to run away from it so badly.
"Oh, relax," Luan said in a calm voice, gently taking her slightly cold hands. "Everything will be fine. There’s no way they’ll ignore your request, especially if it can make the tribe better."
Roxanna let out a soft sigh. "We can’t be sure about that."
After all, asking so many people to destroy their own homes and then rebuild them again wasn’t something easy to accept.
She lowered her gaze, her fingers tightening slightly around his hand.
"Not everyone will understand right away," she added softly. "Some of them might feel scared... or even angry."
Luan watched her for a moment before gently squeezing her hand. "That’s normal," he said. "Change is never easy, but that doesn’t mean it’s wrong."
Seeing that Roxanna still didn’t say anything, Luan finally sat up straight as well. His other hand gently stroked her cheek, trying to soothe her heart. "Well, there’s no point in guessing like this. How about we see their reaction after you give your speech to them?"
Roxanna finally nodded. "We should do that."
Luan smiled slightly and patted her cheek. "Before that, I think there’s something more important to talk about," he added. "How are you feeling? Do you still feel nauseous? Dizzy? If your body still doesn’t feel well, then you don’t have to go out now."
[That could be a good excuse to run away—no! Hell, no! I won’t use that excuse.]
[I won’t run away.]
She took a deep breath, then looked back at Luan. "I’m fine," she said, her voice a little firmer this time. "I can do it."
Luan studied her face for a moment, as if trying to see whether she was forcing herself or not.
"Are you sure?" he asked.
Roxanna hesitated for a split second, but then she nodded again. "I am."
There was still a hint of nervousness in her eyes, but it no longer looked like she was about to run away.
Luan let out a small sigh. "Alright," he said. "Then let’s go out together."
Roxanna nodded. After quickly fixing her appearance, the two of them finally stepped out of the hut. Even though it looked crowded outside, not all of the people from the settlement had gathered there yet.
"Oh, Leader! Are you feeling better now?!" Marlow’s loud voice was the first thing she heard.
The former commander was grilling meat together with Cyrus. He waved his hand several times, trying to get Roxanna’s attention.
"Leader, I heard you were sick," Grandma Mia said as well. She slowly walked toward her, then handed her a coconut shell filled with coconut water. "Here, coconut water is very good for maintaining your stamina."
