Chapter 324 - 323: Cousins
Chapter 324 - 323: Cousins
The female voice was amplified by the microphone, echoing throughout the venue. Everyone looked towards the source and saw the strikingly attractive woman, who had already drawn attention when she entered, now holding the microphone as she spoke. She had a slight smirk at the corner of her mouth, which gave her smile a somewhat sinister charm. Coupled with her professional attire that accentuated her fiery figure, she possessed an alluring aura that naturally drew all eyes to her.
"Who are you?" Li Ying asked, glaring.
Tian Qiu tilted her head and gave a cold smile, "Is the little girl’s hearing bad? I’m the sister of the protagonist you mentioned. Maybe that little head of yours that’s about to burst can’t comprehend it. My name is Tian Qiu, the Deputy General Manager of the Weng Group."
The Weng Group is one of the companies providing military supplies. Although it’s not a state-owned company, it was established in response to national policies and is therefore able to supply certain military needs. It is also a special guest organization of the 119th Division.
For Li Ying, this was too out of place, as she wasn’t in charge of military supplies and had no idea who provided them.
Li Ying didn’t know Tian Qiu, but Yuan Guiling did. Worried that Li Ying might offend more people in her impulsiveness, she quickly took the microphone from her hand.
"Ms. Tian, hello. Your visit is a great honor for our division," Yuan Guiling said, maintaining a dignified tone.
Although she didn’t want to offend Tian Qiu, there was no reason to be overly submissive, as they were, after all, the people’s army.
Li Ying was unhappy with Yuan Guiling for snatching her microphone, but it was inappropriate to reclaim it in public.
"Does Ms. Tian mean that Tian Lei is your brother?" Yuan Guiling asked calmly.
Despite maintaining a calm exterior, Yuan Guiling’s mind was anything but calm. The Weng Group might not have a significant influence on the military, as they could easily switch suppliers. Many such enterprises had sprung up due to the current policies, so they didn’t lack the Weng Group. However, the Tian Family was remarkable.
The concept of the Imperial Physician once existed, and it does even now, albeit less tangible. For instance, military hospitals like the 300 Hospital and the Air Force Hospital in certain forms belong to this category but cater to the general public.
Besides these, there are some specific, private families, or individuals whom the state specially recruits, offering exceptional benefits, providing them with certain materials, and supporting family enterprises, all to engage them for serving important leaders.
Of course, aside from appearing when important leaders need them, they are generally very free. The Tian Family is one among them.
An ancient family of traditional Chinese medicine!
The only traditional Chinese medicine family among the many ’Imperial Physicians’!
Since they hold such a unique position, their presence is immensely important. These matters are generally known to those above the troop level and are not entirely confidential. Therefore, Yuan Guiling was aware.
Do you really think that the Weng Group alone would cause the 119th Division to invite Tian Qiu again and again? Impossible, the main reason is that Tian Qiu is a granddaughter of the Tian Family.
But, since Tian Qiu is Tian Lei’s sister, then Tian Lei must also be a member of the Tian Family. Why, being part of a traditional Chinese medicine family, would he go and study Western medicine?
This question just flashed through Yuan Guiling’s mind and didn’t linger for long. Family matters like these were not something she could explore deeply.
Since Li Ying publicly disclosed the scandal, she obviously cared about nothing now, much less the Tian Family. She snatched the microphone from the Host’s hand and coldly asked Tian Qiu, "What did you mean by what you just said?"
"Didn’t go to school?" Tian Qiu raised an eyebrow in response.
In the infirmary, Tian Lei couldn’t help but hold his forehead. Second Sister, that’s enough, don’t provoke her anger anymore.
Tian Qiu wasn’t about to let it go. She had observed this little brat’s behavior closely, just waiting to strike a heavy blow at this moment.
"Whether I went to school or not is none of your concern." Li Ying suppressed her anger and coldly said.
"You said you have a witness. Did your so-called witness see my brother and Beisitian together or hear them say something improper?" Tian Qiu got to the point.
Li Ying immediately turned to Ding Sisi and said sternly, "You say!"
After a momentary pause, Ding Sisi had calmed down, realizing Li Ying was using her as a tool. Even if Beisitian and Tian Lei were in a relationship, it wasn’t her place to take the lead!
"Didn’t see," Ding Sisi backtracked, outright denying it.
Li Ying’s eyes widened in disbelief as she asked, "What did you say?"
In front of so many people, Ding Sisi wasn’t afraid of her. She raised her chin slightly and said, "I only said that I felt the two of them had a good relationship. You’re the one who insisted they were having an improper relationship!"
With no evidence, who could say for sure? If you claim it’s my words, then I can claim they are yours!
Li Ying had not expected Ding Sisi to backtrack. Her gaze was like a dagger on Ding Sisi, and many were surprised to see Li Ying’s expression. The delicate and playful girl they thought they knew was indeed something else!
"I saw it!" Li Ying immediately snorted coldly, "I saw them getting off work together and disappearing from the station. What else could they possibly do?"
Her words once again turned all eyes to Luo Xudong. Could it be that Deputy Squad Leader Luo truly wore the proverbial green hat?
However, from start to finish, Luo Xudong remained silent, not moving a bit, leaving everyone unable to speculate what he was thinking.
Tian Qiu sneered, "Throwing baseless accusations at my brother and sister, where do you find the nerve to claim you’re a people’s soldier!"
The last line elevated the situation to another level entirely.
Li Ying’s face was dark. She suddenly realized the implications of what she had just said, trembling with uncertainty, "What did you say just now?"
The hall was abuzz with chatter, like watching a dramatic movie full of twists.
Tian Qiu slightly curled her lips, "One is my cousin, the other my cousin. They’re cousins, so what could possibly happen between them? You say they left work together and disappeared from the station, and you haphazardly malign them without proof. Is this how a people’s soldier behaves?"
Li Ying was filled with doubt.
"Or is your mind so filthy that seeing a man and a woman together, you let your thoughts drift that way?" Tian Qiu tilted her head, smirking while scanning Li Ying up and down.
Li Ying’s face alternated between red and pale, left speechless and mortified by Tian Qiu’s sharp retorts. If they truly were cousins, wouldn’t it mean her mind was indeed filthy?
She was no match for Tian Qiu!
"You, you say they’re cousins, but where’s the proof?" A sudden inspiration flashed in Li Ying’s mind; without proof, who was to say otherwise?
"What if it’s I who is saying it?" An elderly voice resounded at the entrance.
