Chapter 600 Second games

Chapter 600 Second games

He stood in front of her, his arms stiff at his sides, his face redder than his uniform.

"You don’t have to—" Alina started.

Felix stepped forward and hugged her.

It was quick. Brief. Awkward. His arms barely touched her, and he pulled away almost immediately.

"There," he said, stepping back. "Done."

Alina smiled warmly. "Thank you, Felix."

He nodded and looked away, his ears burning bright red.

Boo floated above them all, his arms crossed dramatically.

"I want a hug too!" he announced.

"You are floating," Alina pointed out.

"I can hug from above!"

"That is not how hugs work."

"It is how ghost hugs work!" Boo insisted. "We have different rules!"

Alina sighed, but she couldn’t hide her smile. "Fine. Come here."

Boo floated down and wrapped his translucent arms around her. It felt like being hugged by cool air and gentle pressure, like standing in a warm breeze.

"Very nice," Boo declared, pulling back. "Very warm. Teacher is good at hugs."

"Thank you, Boo."

"Best teacher."

"Thank you."

"Best hugs in the academy."

"Boo."

"Yes?"

"Go help Kelpie with his water. He is splashing everywhere again."

Boo saluted dramatically and zoomed off, his torn banner trailing behind him like a cape.

Alina turned back to the group, brushing off her dress. "Alright," she said, clapping her hands. "Games are about to start. We need to get back to the field."

Luna hopped off the bench carefully, testing her weight on her bandaged knee. She winced slightly but nodded.

"I can walk," she said.

"Slowly," Alina instructed.

"Fast slowly," Luna said proudly.

"That is not a thing," Alina said, looking at her speechlessly.

"It is now," Luna declared.

Drake fell into step beside Luna, his shoulder brushing hers. "I will walk with you."

"I don’t need help," Luna said.

"You have a bandage," Drake said, glancing at her knee.

"I have two legs," Luna retorted.

"One is sad," Drake said.

Luna looked at him. "My leg is not sad."

"Your leg is very sad," Drake insisted. "Look at it. All wrapped up. Very tragic."

Luna’s eye twitched, but she didn’t tell him to go away.

They walked together toward the field, the rest of Class D around them in a loose cluster. Kelpie splashed ahead, Rocky walked beside him, Sable held Lucien’s hand, Vlad Jr. stayed close to Drake, and Boo floated above, his torn banner waving in the breeze.

Meanwhile, Dante watched from his exclusive chair, positioned at the edge of the field where he could see everything. His arms rested on the armrests, his posture relaxed but his eyes sharp, tracking every movement on the playground. The morning sun had climbed higher, warming the grass and making the colorful banners flutter.

He saw them before anyone else did. The cluster of red uniforms moving across the field, making their way back from the nurse’s office. Luna was walking carefully, her bandaged knee visible beneath her shorts, but her head was held high. Drake walked beside her, his shoulder almost touching hers. The others surrounded them like a protective circle.

Dante’s gaze shifted to Alina.

She was walking at the back of the group, her red outfit slightly wrinkled, her hair coming loose from her ponytail. She looked tired. But when she glanced up and caught his eye, she smiled.

He raised one eyebrow.

She nodded reassuringly. Everything is fine.

Dante held her gaze for a moment longer, then looked away, his expression unchanged. But something in his shoulders relaxed.

Nearby, servants moved quietly through the crowd, carrying trays of chilled water and juice. The afternoon was getting warmer, and the children had been running for hours. Small cups were distributed, and the sounds of thirsty children drinking echoed across the field.

When Class D reached their section, a servant appeared immediately, offering cups of cold juice.

"For the runners," the servant said warmly.

Drake’s eyes lit up. "JUICE!"

He grabbed a cup and drank half of it in one gulp. "Cold! Sweet! Amazing!"

Kelpie accepted his cup carefully, trying not to spill water everywhere. "Thank you," he said politely, taking a small sip.

Rocky held his cup with both hands, his stone fingers gentle. "It’s cold," he said, surprised.

"Juice is supposed to be cold," Felix said, taking his own cup.

"Rocks are not cold," Rocky replied. "I forgot juice is cold."

Felix blinked. "That is... a fair point."

Sable drank his juice happily, his shadow form rippling. "This is good juice! Lucien, is your juice good?"

Lucien nodded. "Yes."

"Mine is better," Sable said, taking a small sip, his eyes sparkling.

"It is the same juice," Lucien said, laughing softly.

"Mine tastes better because I am happier," Sable declared, taking another sip.

Lucien considered this. "That is not how taste works."

"It is how my taste works."

Boo floated around his cup, staring at it intensely.

"I cannot hold it," he announced.

"Then how will you drink?" Kelpie asked.

"I will absorb it spiritually," Boo said proudly.

"That is not a thing," Kelpie said, shocked.

"It is a ghost thing," Boo insisted.

Boo stared at the cup with deep concentration. Nothing happened.

"It is not working," he admitted.

Felix sighed. "Someone help him."

Vlad Jr. stepped forward and held the cup up for Boo. Boo leaned down and took a sip, his translucent lips somehow managing to drink.

"Thank you, organizer," Boo said.

"I am not the organizer right now," Vlad Jr. replied. "I am just holding your cup."

"You are always the organizer. It is your essence."

Vlad Jr. did not argue.

Alina accepted a cup of water and drank slowly, her eyes moving across her class, checking on each of her students.

When the drinks were finished, Professor Hobb’s voice carried across the field.

"Next games! Please make your way to your assigned stations. Monster Feed game and Ring Toss game participants, please come toward the assigned stations."

The children perked up immediately.

"What games?" Drake asked, looking around. He hadn’t heard properly because he was busy drinking cold juice.

Boo checked his memory. "Feed the Monster! I registered for Feed the Monster!"

Sable nodded eagerly. "Me too! And Lucien!"

Kelpie bounced on his feet. "Ring Toss! Rocky and I registered for Ring Toss! In water!"

Lucien confirmed calmly, "Yes. Those were the assignments."

Vlad Jr. consulted his notebook, which he had placed on the bench beforehand, even though he already knew. "Feed the Monster participants from Class D: Boo, Sable, and Lucien. Ring Toss participants: Kelpie and Rocky."

Everyone nodded.

"Good luck!" Alina called after them.
