Chapter 798 301: Hiding One's Talents, The Correct Use of the Demon King (5k)
On the other side of the rift lay a massive valley, beneath which the earth was torn asunder, revealing a long and colossal fissure.
Above the valley, lush and verdant, filled with a barbaric atmosphere, Different Races of various shapes and sizes gathered there.
The place had actually become rather famous, as over the years a steady stream of Creatures had been drawn to it.
But to be honest, the number of Different Races that died at the hands of the Old Celestial Master over the years paled in comparison to the fraction that perished in skirmishes amongst themselves.
It wasn't as simple as taking one step across the rift to reach the other side, for the Old Celestial Master stood guard over there, and no matter how much He extended His Power, by the time it reached this side, it was greatly diminished.
At first, only a few demons that lived nearby would appear.
As time went on, all kinds of chaotic entities also arrived. There were those who could not keep up with the Spiritual Qi Resurgence here, those fleeing for their lives, and those intending to claim a kingdom for themselves in the mortal world. Some, while hunting, used this place as a hunting ground, preying on other demonic Different Races. Their types were chaotic, and their purposes varied widely.
Now, a Heavenly Hound had found another unstable path, and many Different Races had moved on, attempting to follow it.
There were also some who felt there were too many over there, believing that if so many crossed together, they would surely draw away the Guardian of the great fissure on the other side.
They had been well-behaved for several days, just waiting for the Old Celestial Master to leave and intervene on the other side so they could take their chance to cross over through the great fissure.
After all, this great fissure was the most stable, requiring no need to search for the path while traveling, and the risk of getting lost was very low.
Different Races that had been here for years had become very familiar with the aura of the Old Celestial Master.
In these recent days, all the Different Races were well-behaved. Once the disturbance of their auras stabilized, some began to notice the Old Celestial Master's aura gradually disappearing.
From the Heavenly Hound's group, they also received some news. Under great duress, the Hound started crossing before fully confirming it was safe.
Hundreds of varying Different Races rushed in behind it.
The changes in heaven and earth were too violent; too many Creatures were unable to adapt to such changes.
Some went mad; some became twisted and strange, their consciousness extinguished.
They could only flee to more remote areas, trying to reduce the negative impacts brought about by the changes.
It was said that recently in the Land of Four Wilds, the Night Vigil Deity suffered heavy losses and was nearly exterminated. That place, once blanketed by otherworldly power, turned into a truly barren land after the conflagration ceased.
Yet even for this barren land, many Creatures were recently scrambling.
Because the resurgence there was slow, at least one wouldn't turn into a mindless monster from failing to keep up with the pace.
The once-powerful beings, the incredibly strong ones, weren't greatly affected because either they hadn't awoken yet, or they were able to endure through it.
If they made it through, they might even have undergone a significant trial, advancing further in their journey.
Meanwhile, the weakest ones weren't greatly affected either; they were simply weak, at most passively undergoing the transformations brought by the shift in the era.
It was only those in the middle, the stalwart mainstay, who were numerous and truly suffered.
In the age of The Last Dharma, they suffered the most.
With the Spiritual Qi Resurgence, they also suffered the most.
Their choices were the most numerous and the most confused, almost encompassing all kinds of Creatures and thoughts.
Today, after confirming that many Creatures had departed following the Heavenly Hound, and no longer sensing the Old Celestial Master's unique oppressive aura, the remaining Different Races here could wait no longer.
They started their sprint, rushing into the great fissure like a swarm, moving towards the other side of the rift.
Then, just as the foremost Different Race burst into the rift, gliding along the central Void path and about to break free...
A sudden clap of thunder erupted. The Old Celestial Master enthusiastically welcomed them, even summoning lightning specifically to prevent them from getting lost, paving a pathway for them.
Lightning, like water, converged into streams, writhing downwards, forming the River of Thunderous Light.
The leading Different Race, upon seeing the River of Thunderous Light, was nearly blinded by the brilliance.
It wanted to retreat, but many more Different Races were behind it, including some enormous ones. Packed tightly together like a fleeing herd of beasts, they could only move forward—none could turn back or stop.
Those that retreated or stopped would be trampled to death by the onrushing herd behind them.
The searing River of Thunderous Light flowed past, submerging those at the front, the fastest of the Different Races, in an instant.
Not even a wail could be heard. The sound of lightning piercing the air and shattering the Void roared like a torrent, silencing everything else.
Some Different Races further behind attempted to retreat but found it impossible. The place only appeared to be the Void; one couldn't truly see in every direction at a glance.
By the time they saw the lightning, it was already too late.
A giant beast, dozens of meters tall, was engulfed by the lightning. Its flesh was stripped away layer by layer until only a skeleton remained.
A Demon covered in metallic armor quickly curled up. Its metallic outer layer shone faintly as it attempted to redirect the electric current.
Unfortunately, the Power here was too fierce and chaotic, and its unintended Faraday Cage cosplay proved to be rather ineffective.
