Chapter 741 - 738: Fully Automatic ATM (3)
"Tell me, is your husband delicious or not?""Delicious, delicious, even more delicious than the Roast Deer Tendon from Imperial Cuisine."
"Then do you want to eat?"
"I do, I do, I do! I’m dying to!"
The man pulled her up, smoothed her tousled hair, and gave her a light peck on her lips.
"I’ll go order takeout for you. Once you’re full, you can savour me."
Saying so, he rose to fetch his phone.
"Order from somewhere nearby, or we’ll have to wait ages. I’m already starving." Vera Wave took a card from the table and handed it to him. "Isla Hawskin gave this to me. It’s for the home-style restaurant downstairs."
Kris Cooper frowned, then picked up his phone, dialed the number, and ordered several of her favorite dishes.
"Deliver it within half an hour, and I’ll pay double."
After hanging up, he turned to see Vera Wave eating rice from the box with chopsticks. He quickly walked over to check the temperature. Confirming the rice was still warm, he didn’t stop her.
He sat down beside her and gently caressed her lower belly.
"How are you feeling?"
"Everything is normal except for the ultrasound."
He brushed her hair back behind her ears. "Rest for a while after you eat. We’ll go home for dinner tonight, okay? Mom, Dad, and Grandpa... they’re all very worried about you."
Vera Wave nodded. "Okay."
A short while later, the delivery guy brought the food again. Kris Cooper quickly removed the previous cold rice and arranged the new dishes in front of her. Knowing she was hungry, he found an empty bowl, scooped some rice into it, and carefully blew on it to cool it for her.
Chewing on a piece of vegetable, Vera Wave watched the man’s profile, her nose tingling with emotion. She reached out, hugged his arm, and rested her head on his shoulder.
"Honey, let’s get married?"
"The wedding dress is all ready. We were just waiting for you to say that!" He chuckled, rubbing his cheek against her hair, then offered her a mouthful of rice with his chopsticks. "Eat first."
She took the bowl, ate a mouthful, then quickly put it down again.
She pulled open her collar, unclasped the necklace he had given her from around her neck, took their wedding rings off it, and slipped them back onto her fingers.
After getting out of prison, she had gotten the rings back but hadn’t dared to wear them, afraid of losing them, so she had always kept them close, on her person.
Smiling at him, she picked up her bowl and continued eating.
After the meal, she leaned contentedly against his shoulder on the couch, tucking her legs up.
"Was it Isla who told you I lived here?"
"It was Kate."
"But she didn’t even come upstairs that day, did she?" Vera Wave blinked, puzzled. "How did you know which floor I live on?"
"That was no simple feat!" He chuckled, gently ruffling her hair. "I knocked on doors, floor by floor, all the way up!"
She laughed, then said with playful disdain, "And here I thought you had some clever trick up your sleeve. Turns out... you’re so dense!"
"Of course, I have clever methods too." He gently patted her shoulder. "Otherwise, how would I have tracked you to the hospital?"
Hearing this, she tensed and looked up at him.
"You... what’s wrong? Why did you get an ultrasound?!"
The last time she saw him, it was outside the Ultrasound Room, and she’d thought he was also there for an ultrasound.
"I wasn’t there for a check-up; I was looking for you." Kris Cooper gently pressed her head back against his chest, his fingers idly toying with her necklace. "I have a secret weapon."
"What kind of secret weapon?" she asked, looking up at him with a curious expression.
"Kiss me, and I’ll tell you."
